Thanks for the kudos guys (or gals... I can never tell online) -
Hangar capacity...
Zurawski replied to Piloto's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In the past I experienced the situation your currently noticing... I improved load times by moving the entire thirdwire directory to another drive... running defrag... moving the directory back and running defrag again. I discovered this while up making multiple installs (for different theaters and or time periods)... In a nutshell, I speculate that the game parses all the files while loading... Obviously the more planes... the more files. The methodology mentioned above places all the files in one contiguous block... reducing the seek time for these files. Some may call my hypothesis a bunch of malarky... but proof is in the pudding and I notice a marked improvement in load times... FYI, If you don't have a second disk to move to... one can just archive (zip or otherwise) the directory and proceed as denoted. Obvious this doesn't do as good a job, but it's better than nothing. -
Well... In an effort to reduce my families "carbon foot print" I've enacted the following changes in our life: 1.) As a family unit we are developing our ability to hold our breath for extended periods of time. Obviously with every exhaled breath we are further contributing to the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere... so by reducing our respiratory rate to a absolute necessity, we are doing our part. 2.) I've banned the following foods from our diet: broccoli, oranges, eggs, sauerkraut and certain fermented beverages. By eliminating these foods we are again greatly reducing our carbon foot print by eliminating flatulence. 3.) We allow the local livestock farmers to graze our lawn. This benefits earth two ways... the beasties keep our grass clipped to a putting-green length... there by eliminating our need to run our 2-stroke lawn mover. However the farm beasties themselves are carbon producing flatulence machines... so we have taken the proactive steps of sprinkling "beano" over our yard in effort to curb their carbon-rich butt burps. We've taken these extreme steps to allow me to continue to drive my Chevy Avalanche...

Well after so many seasons of "less-then-stellar" showings the Brewers are holding first place in their division... I'm not holding my breath however... I see them absolutely implode with no explanation. GO PACKERS! (Okay... I'm a bigger Packer fan than Brewer fan)

Yeah... right up to the point where ya catch a chilly draft around ones wee dinky.

LOL! Right you are... Kind of amazing how quickly this forum (or any forum for that matter) becomes "comfortable" and we forget we are carrying on conversations with people across the world...

Eh, I had to do a complete (as complete as I could) genealogy for a high school assignment... and I ended up going a little overboard. Paid some cash to one of those family tree websites so they could go and rifle through Ellis Island records and trace my parents parents back to Poland... In the end all I really learned was that the Zurawski crest is a stork (now that's intimidating eh?) that in the translation of Zurawski it either references "stork" like the crest... or a chimney sweep (Yet another formidable icon...) My grandparents had very broken english... but by'en large my parents spoke with little if any accents.

Need directions

I had an issue similar to yours once... Solved it by using a program that fully removes video drivers and did a re-install. Don't recall the program (I want to say it was something like "drivercleaner" or "driverclean"... something along those lines) Seems something got pooched when I updated the drivers "over" an existing set without uninstalling them first... -
If you intend to use Z-u-r-a-w-s-k-i when your name is Z-u-r-a-w-i-e-c-k-i We really need to sit down and discuss why us Poles are steriotyped... LOL!

Project Update: MV-22 Osprey
Zurawski replied to Zurawski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Progress is "good" albeit "slow"... I've got the majority of basic structures built... now it's down to bits'n pieces... Which typically takes longer to model than the previous work. Hop on over to the website and check the progress pics! Zur-TECH.com -
Zurawski? Well is apparently started a long time ago in the city of Krakow Poland... some Cossack seeded some farm peasant and the lineage of "Zurawski" was born... But I digress. Hell, I choose my last name because: 1.) I can remember it even in a drunken stupor 2.) Unless your reading a soccer (Football for you Europeans) forum... I'm like 99.9% guaranteed that no one else is using the name 3.) My nick in high school was "zoo"... which just doesn't emote any sense of authority. Thus Zurawski and the now infamous Zur-TECH.com was born!

Official Desert Storm Annoucement

Denial is such a cruel affliction... Now USAFMTL "thinks" he's working on a DS mod. ... sad...sad little man. -

I can confirm that USAFMTL is denying the confirmation in regard to his denial... As facts have been presented to me, I can unequivocally confirm that USAFMTL is in denial regarding his recent confirmation. I hope I've made this abundantly clear. .... "In the desert... you can't remember your name..." -

(Read in a horse race announcer style)... "AND here come FastCaro around the 3rd pylon... Followed closely by USAFMTL... USAFMTL apprears to be hugging the pylon to force Fastcargo wide.... OH NO! FastCargo has strayed wide and high on the coarse... Looks like the west SAM battery has him locked up... He's back on coarse but with a missle hot on his arse!" Brings a whole new meaning to "do not deviate from your waypoints"... -

The thought of proper air-racing is giving me a chubby! (yeah... I know..."bad visual") Think of all the airframe possibilites!... Biplane, Formula 1, Sport Class, T-6 Class, Jet Class, Unlimited Class... To me the Sport class is the most "interesting"... some very unique airframes in this class! Sorry PC... looks like your Civilian thread has been hijacked by air-racing hoodlums! (I'm with you on the Civi stuff too though) -

Hmmm... Concidering the MPs limited scope... this is an excellent diversion! New terrain? New (colorful) planes? A reason to go online? Sounds too good to be true! -
one step forward, 3 steps back and fall flat on my ass
Zurawski replied to Bongodriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I've quite literally torn a project to pieces trying to fix something that the true resolution was staring me right in the face... There's almost no pain like banging your head on a virtual wall. -
A civilian idea...
Zurawski replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ya know... I can't even get away with being sarcastic around here! LOL! I agree with you more than you think. This is partly why I choose such obscure and or unique aircraft to model... (save the Sabres of coarse). Now just playing devils advocate... there's nothing stopping us from drumming up a "post apocalyptic" mod... and slap a gun-pod and a Cessna is there? -

Zurawski replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Lexx, Sounds interesting... problem is I'm in the middle of two projects and I quite honestly don't have enough time for even these! I can tell you from experience (Talon) that hypersonic speeds will require someone with oodles (yup, technical term) of FM knowledge... I had to fudge engine stuff just to get the Talon into the Mach 4 range... Also... I concede that we may never "run" out of military planes... but we may run out of "interesting" ones to model... LOL! -
A civilian idea...
Zurawski replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Personally I like the whole civilian idea... For no other reason than to open up the potential scope of modeled aircraft. At some point we are going to run out of military planes to model... I think its only prudent to expand the scope of the game engine. Additionally, this also opens up Pandora's box for the terrain builders. Granted they won't be able model entire continents... but a highly detailed Australia or Grand Canyon would be quit spiffy! I know for a fact we have the talent in our community to build civilian models that would exceed the detail and quality of the MS stuff... -
