  1. Amazing images

    Fabulous pics!
  2. I'm so jazzed! I just finished a mission in the F-4E over Vietnam. There were boatloads of Migs in the air. I was very busy. I don't remember very much. Everything happened so fast. I just tried to stay alive. After the missions end I checked the stats and found I had 7 kills with the gun, landing 111 hits on target! 111 HITS!!! I'm shocked. I don't know about anyone else, but I've never had that many hits before. I've had the same hit percentage or better, but usually against fixed targets. I'll bet a few folks out there have done better, but I'm still super-jazzed at this result. I just had to share it. My whole flight of eight survived as well. Very proud of that. Here's the stat sheet.
  3. I usually fire when the target is at low Energy. They should be around 250 Kts or so. If they are over 300 they will likely have the speed to maneuver quickly and dodge your missile. I like to catch them when they come out of a hard turn. They're energy is low and that gives you a better chance. You should have good overtake speed, at least 50 Kts. Otherwise, you give the target too much time to respond to the missile. You may notice that you get tone when they are in a slight turn in relation to you. Don't fire at this time. The missile will never hit. Wait until the target's tailpipe is clearly visible to you. If the target begins to maneuver in the vertical (the AI sometimes like to "porpoise" to spoil a gunshot) that's when you have him. Sidewinders work very well in the vertical. Using these methods, I'm hitting with the AIM-9B roughly 60% to 70% of the time.
  4. GIANTS WIN!

The San Francisco Giants are World Champions! Woohoo!
  5. HMS Astute or Not so Very...

Seems like the RN should stay the hell away from Skye. The place has a knack for catching ships.
  6. I'm not particularly Christian...but

I'm not especially Christian either, but that really is great. Thanks for sharing.
  7. A Picture paints a thousand words

It's not only the wives that miss soldiers on duty. Great pic!
  8. Looks spectacular, Dave. How's the gameplay? Killed any tanks yet?
  9. Sunset

Great shots. Fates. They're really beautiful.
  10. One Shot one Kill... new scope design for Snipers...

Awesome. Imagine the incredible shots Carlos Hathcock could've made with one of these.
  11. Helicopters vs Jets

How about about if I fly a jet, eat a Helicopter pilot's food at his party, and then pork his wife. I think that'll work out well for me. Oh wait, only a Navy pilot would stoop to that... Best to be a Navy pilot!
  12. Sometimes it's a joy to go to work

Hey Ruggbutt, my wife loves photography too, especially nature photography. She loves your pics and wants to know what camera you're using.
  13. Not bad. It's still got nothing on "The Bridges of Toko'Ri"
  14. File Name: CloudScape v3: Two Skies File Submitter: ShrikeHawk File Submitted: 22 September 2010 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Terrains Cloudscape v3 09/22/2010 by ShrikeHawk Here's two cloud mods for the price of one. You get a cloud mod for Wings over Israel2 and Wings over Vietnam2. Each uses two cloud images: cloud1.tga and cloud2.tga. These images are different in both, but are interchangeable between the two mods. With just a simple file renaming you can try out any of the clouds in CloudSkins 1,2,or 3 in these mods. Experiment, play with it, and see what kind of skies you can build. The WOI2 mod is a variation of the new Widesky. The WoV2 mod is a variation of the default environmentsystem.ini. [CREDITS] Thanks to Cellinski and Insky Group for the original WideSky mod and the updated version for Thirdwire's 2nd Gen Sims. Thanks to Stick for trying it out and for the support. Thanks to TK for a fabulous sim and the wisdom to make it so moddable. Click here to download this file
  15. Procurement Explained

I heard that one from my CO more than 10 years ago. I've been telling it ever since. Still great to hear it again.
  16. Sometimes it's a joy to go to work

    Fabulous! Just beautiful pics!
  17. Now that's a much better way to take out the reactor, rather than an airstrikes. Just fade off into the shadows and nobody knows where to point the finger.
  18. Nieuport16C1 mid 1916 two-tone camo

    Looks gorgeous, Quack. Great job!
  19. No missiles for Iran...

Gosh. Do you think Iran should've played ball when the Russians offered nuclear fuel for Iran's "peaceful energy-producing plants" in return for halting Iran's plutonium enrichment? Russia could've made a lot of money on that deal. I imagine they didn't like having their generous offer turned down. Yeah, it's hardball, but that's they way the big boys play. So sorry, charlie.
  20. What's wrong with this picture...

Isn't that a Nieuport 28 in the foreground?
  21. Show off your Desktop!

ooh, I'm voting for Falcon's desktop (my wife would kill me if I had that). Here's mine...
  22. Surffin the WEB

I remember reading the specs on the F-20 many years ago. I was very impressed. Unbelievable to me that the plane never found success. I don't suppose somebody is still working on a model for Thirdwire is there?
  23. Funny headline goof

Hehe. If someone wrote that as part of a fiction novel, it would sound contrived. As always, truth is stranger than fiction.
  24. Eīd Mubārak!

Never thought that for a moment! I'm expanding on your well-wishes.
