  1. Nice pics, SoulFreak! So what the heck is that funny-looking missile launcher on your "Tonka" screenie?
  2. Timor Campaign

I just discovered it last night and am anxious to give it a try.

  4. Saabs Cobra

I just love Drakkens! But maybe I'm just biased because I'm part Swedish. Still, it's a blast to fly in WoE. I, for one, am not much impressed by the Cobra Maneuver. It looks impressive, the way trick shots in billiards look cool. But just like trick shots, you need a perfect setup for it to work. The opportunities to use such a tactic in real combat would be so rare that the cobra maneuver is a non-factor. If an Su-27 is flying so slow in combat that it "could" do this, then the Flanker becomes easy meat for missiles and roving Eagles. A good pilot wouldn't let that happen.
  5. Hey All, Lately, I've been trying out much newer fighters than I'm used. 90% of all my sim time has been in props, so I'm not so familiar with combat tactics with an enemy I can't even see. This is BVR stuff is just killing me! I've tried: - Opening up my radar range so I can detect enemies sooner - Firing off a sparrow or AIM-120 as soon as I have a lock - Remembering to activate jamming if available - Employing liberal amounts of flares and chaff - Dodging a lot Once in a while, I actually manage to survive these engagements, but not many. I've been getting kills but they're often ending in mutual destruction. Questions: -Are some tactics to use that give you even a 50% chance of survivability? These Su-27s are just murdering me! -When launching a sparrow from an F-15 or SkyFlash from a Tornado, do you need to keep the target in the aiming reticle as with the F-4? -Is it possible to see these missiles coming or am I just blind? -How do you evade an enemy you can't even see? -During these fights, I rarely have any targets on radar once maneuvering begins. How can I track the enemy with my nose going all over the place? Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated. Cheers!
  6. Yup! Counting leaves at the start of the engagement is working out just fine. Works over water too. I got good kills in the F-15, F-16, and F-18 and...actually survived! Thanks much for the assist, all!
  7. Thanks, guys. I'll give that a try. And Brain, I've counted around 20 missiles fired at me alone when I checked the log. So I know how that feels. I guess as the player, you're a high value target! I generally prefer flying the 50s to 70s too. At least in that time, a dogfight was still a dogfight.
  8. Great-looking plane, Spinners. It looks like a plausible planform. I almost expect to see its like someday.
  9. cheered me up

Whew! Good thing they weren't hollow points...
  10. cheered me up

haha! Saw this one before and it's still good. I wonder if she had any trouble opeing the orange "concentrate" juice container...
  11. Patrick Swayze Dead st 57

RIP Patrick. You'll be sorely missed.
  12. Ooh! Okay, I gotta try that now... Is that Turkish terrain?
  13. File Name: CloudScape v2 File Submitter: ShrikeHawk File Submitted: 06 Sep 2009 File Category: Environmental Mods CloudScape V2 09/03/2009 by ShrikeHawk This has been successfully tested in WoV, WoE, WoI and also limited testing in the SFP2 sims (thanks to silverbolt). Framerates were minimally affected by this mod during testing. Since clouds vary widely in their appearance from day to day, it seems to me that the WoX games should have a greater variety in the appearance of their clouds. I notice the clouds a lot and after a while I begin to see too much repetition in the cloud patterns. So I frequently wish for more variety. As it turns out, you "can" have greater variation. It is possible to use as many as four different clouds in a single installation - one each for scattered, broken, overcast, and inclement clouds. I have capitalized on this to create a wider array of cloud images. In this mod, I have created two sets of four clouds. Each set of four comprises a single install. Cheers and Happy Flying! 14. Hallo! I am trying to install a new PTO installation with SF Gold. I've installed the 06 update, Nations.ini, formations, and the midway terrain. Every time I start it up and get to the loading page I get the "this application has issues do you want to send a report..." yadda yadda. What am I doing wrong?
  15. Got it working! Thanks for all the encouragement and help.
  16. I'll give this a try tonight. Thanks for the support!
  17. World Cup Warming

No France, Germany, Italy? Are they still qualifying too?
  18. Okay - I'm clearly missing something for the "FLA-MG". I didn't see anything like that in Capun's site. So where would I get it?
  19. Hey Kevin, Here's the display from the error. Looks like there's a ground object problem after all. I did install the ground objects that the readme calls for from Capun's site. I just hope I got the right AAA gunner. The only one I found was for First Eagles, but the object call looked the same. Should I have installed ALL the gunners in the package? Did I goof?
  20. Funny

There must be a certain "pucker factor" in working on that ship...
  21. Found the problem! I needed to update Java...Duh!
  22. Thanks, Oswald. It's an nVidia GTX 260 896Mb. After drooling over the great shots of some other people I cranked up my AA and AF to 16X (forced)
  23. Hey Kevin, The error is the far less useful "SFG has experienced an error and needs to close..." blahblahblah. So I guess this means do it over again with WoE?
  24. *sigh* I've checked my midway.ini file and it's correctly pointing at the desert.cat file. I edited the options.ini and singlemission.ini with the different startyear and endyear I updated the flightengine.ini with the new graphics settings. I can fly the corsair over the regular desert terrain in SFG with no problem. Still crashing at the loading screen... What now?
