We are all a bunch of sycophants!
TX3RN0BILL replied to WarlordATF's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
StigIR... heck, I only remember his name from clashing with him in this forum somewhere... well, hope he's gotten the full "Eel, LazerCats & Co " treatment - ending up in him being put in the fishtank perspective... Good riddance I say! And... Dave's Sycophants, HOAH! -
What is this? (a giant russian bomber?)
TX3RN0BILL replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
Oh well. I prefer the K-7 to the ANT-20 anyways -

TX3RN0BILL replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well, guess the russians really couldn't handle gigantism in early aviation just yet... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_ANT-20 Germany's attempt, whilst more modest, was more successful, with the Junkers G.38: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junkers_G.38 -
I'm sure he meant the "two weeks"

This one tastes different because it's more plausible (if you ignore the geography issue). That joke about the ships and the lighthouse - I wonder if that's ever been true for any of the navies of which I've heard the variation from...

Strike Fighters Anime in the Works
TX3RN0BILL replied to ShinKazama88's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I have another one, probably a side-character, but it's up to you even to accept him... Hauptmann Maximilian "Steinhart" von Reichhausen Plane: Mig-23 Coming from a traditional family of pilots that fought in both world wars in the german Luftwaffe, he followed suit joining the East German Air Force. His grandfather survived WWI but was not fit to participate in the second world war, whereas his father was KIA on the russian front. This was probably the origin of the resentment he felt towards the soviets, which later on came to occupy and split his country in two, leaving him in the part controlled by the USSR. He didn't allow his resentment to get in the way of following his family's trait to become a fighter pilot, although under an alias so as to mask his father's past, and he did manage to join the Luftstreitkräfte. But the older he got the less tolerance he could muster for the "comrades", although his extraordinary flying abilities managed to get him promoted to the rank of Hauptmann. His squadron was sent to Parani officially as an "instructor and observer" squadron, and was commanded by Sasha "Hawk" Dragunov. Unofficially, the USSR wanted to use this squadron to gain as much technological and operational knowledge on the Dhimari Air Force, supplanted by mercenary forces, that used NATO aircraft and weaponry. Posted shortly behind the front lines, he fell in love with a nurse working on the front lines, and when she was captured by dhimari forces, he decided to defect to go find her, which eventually he did, and therefore also gained his freedom from the grip of the Soviet Union. Since the Dhimari Air Force did not accept former enemies into their own ranks, he joined the mercenary group, being well accepted, he provides good intel about the PAF. His defection preceded that of "Hawk" Dragunov, which makes it somewhat ironic that in spite of having an inferior rank, when Dragunov joins the mercenaries, he's positioned lower than Max "Steinhart" von Reichhausen. Although both have a grudge against the Soviet Union, "Steinhart" views Dragunov as part of it and doesn't like the cold slav loner one little bit. -
Playing tag with the North Koreans
TX3RN0BILL replied to Typhoid's topic in Military and General Aviation
Those north koreans are nothing if not feisty... reminds me of that video I've seen where a small north korean ship was intercepted by a small japanese coast guard flotilla... it acted in a suicidal manner and paid the ultimate price for it... -
AC-130 replacement
TX3RN0BILL replied to king_kahuka_godobel's topic in Military and General Aviation
What, no more 105mm flying aerial artillary?! No way!!! Whatever replaces the AC-130 must have the same "heavy shell argument" aboard! -
FSW F/A-18 E
TX3RN0BILL replied to blackwasp73's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I think the F/A-18A's round intakes would look better on this plane, would look "cleaner"... and even more secksi!!! -

Wasn't there an issue with addon weaponpacks? That's why I don't have any - haven't tried multiplayer yet but I'm anxious to find out. I have FX addon and aircraft though... I'm thinking of challenging a buddy of mine to a dogfight with WoE, I'll tell you how it went... -

Whoa, perfect timing, Rodent! -
Well, that's anime-style japanese CGI for you... IMHO FF VII Advent Children is so far the best 100% CGI full-length movie made so far, though I sincerely hope more are to come to beat it... I love CGI stuff...

IRL, True, ingame - False. First time I took to the skies in an A-7 was in Jane's Fighter's Anthology. But I was a bit disenchanted with the plane and wherever I've flown it afterwards my opinion hasn't changed... guess I automatically expect more power performance out of a plane which has its engine compartment running the entire fuselage... although I had to test it in the markings of the Portuguese Air Force, just as a matter of national pride... The person below me has nearly missed a take-off-and-landing flight...

Whoa, guess moral of the story is: "When in Vegas, use the bus... forget about cabs!" I bet that taxi driver must've been some sort of alien clone or something. Cause unless Vegas has grown exponentially since I've last been there (back in 2002), it's definitely NOT a place of difficult navigation. And a taxi driver has the obligation to know major destinations in the area... The fact that she said you needed help instead of saying she was lost, should have prompted Las Vegas's finest to make a call to a clinical sanitarium or something like it... as it must've been HER who wasn't ok. Nice showing of the base security that the armed forces personell take care of themselves...

No RHAW Warning....
TX3RN0BILL replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I can concur, whenever I'm in a mud-mover and there are... "unfriendlies" out to get me then I just hit the weeds, anything between 10 and 60 meters AGL and somehow they just don't get me... -
Lucky you! I've got a group of friends, we're 5 total, so the choice for boardgames is sometimes limited, they're not too keen on the overly military stuff so I was thinking on getting Starcraft maybe...

You should try ArmA, the successor to Operation Flashpoint. Should give you a nice feeling of being on a battlefield. You gotta get mods for it though, vanilla ArmA sucks. Charlielima, there's a mod based on the north african conflict zone during WW2 in the works for ArmA.

Due to the probability of that ending in me getting an involuntary bear hug, I'd say false, I'd try to hit it in the back of the neck, hoping for a 1-hit-knockout... The person below me has more than once kept on looking what happened after he/she was shot down, staring at the other planes and such...

October 2008 patches for ALL ThirdWire Sims has been released.
TX3RN0BILL replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm sure I have the AGM-65D too since I had it before without any weaponspack, just that I can't select it as armament for single missions anymore - and before I could... That's what troubles me... oh and the segmentation of the aircraft availability is also annoying!!! This patch goes totally against the logic: "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!".
