  1. Lynx gets my vote since an agile cat and not the largest - just like the plane itself.
  2. I've never seen the 80's movie but I've seen the TV movie that was made later, as well as the sequel trilogy covering the Dune Messiah and Children of Dune novels, those were nice. I don't think it can be done any better... As for a movie of Half-Life, I would only accept it if it as well would be entirely from the 1st person perspective (now THAT would be inovative), and with Gordon Freeman, as silent as in the games... Basically, putting the audience once again in the skin of the orange-suited crowbar-wielding scientist...
  3. screen shot of the month contest?

Guess that only leaves open the "Member's choice" poll, in two categories (pure and edited)...
  4. Or a fictional campaign covering a fight over the break-up over the USSR - featuring the (then) latest soviet aircraft - TK need not worry about avionics complexity, only alot of dials and analogue stuff in the pits of the russian birds...
  5. Cool, definitely gotta try it out, though it would be perfect if it had multiplayer, since most such games only have single-player (the few that have multiplayer are controlled via mouse and keyboard only - DISGUSTING!!! ) and I was looking for such a game in multiplayer to play in LAN... As for VBS's animalities, I know that Operation Flashpoint has community-made addons where you can be a doberman, a tiger, a cow, a chicken, and a rabbit... and I think they made mule and horse "vehicles"... But the hunting season definitely got on after that... Those addons may work in VBS, but I wouldn't know...
  6. screen shot of the month contest?

Yeah, 'cause it's unfair to have edited screenies contesting with "pure" ones... and add my vote on the voting by the members to elect the best! (preferably to select the best, or just as a "member's choice").
  7. Nice find, thanx! Does it have multiplayer?? Edit: here's the link to Calytrix, the company that brings VBS and Steel Beasts together .
  8. Nice! Brings back memories from the other flight simulator I played before WoE: Jane's Fighters Anthology!
  9. I KNOW what OFP and VBS are and I also KNOW that someone pulled it off to bring one of them to Steel Beasts and actually work together... I'll search the BIS OFP forums for it, will post a link as soon as I find it... As for my choice of Space Simulator it would be the best choice of something different TK stated he wanted to do, since he wouldn't need a terrain (unless he'd go with planets people could travel to, with seamless entry into atmosphere), and he could really meat out the space ship models... And make it as flexible as the SF series so that others can easily add their own spaceships etc... that would be awesome! Maybe enable something like continuous space in which non-combatant missions would also have their space...
  10. Heh, Steel Beasts, that was the same that was "married" to OFP (or was it VBS? ) by some army training IIRC... Never saw them work together but would have loved to see it work... Anyways, I would LOVE to see a space sim by TK!!!
  11. I still have this one to build (1:72) Back on topic, the Cutlass is one of my fav aircraft! Is it available already somewhere? Off to go searching...
  12. Look what came in with the tide...

Will that thing be re-used? If not, sure hope it will pop up on ebay... I have the ideal spot for it on top of my dad's old resting and rusting radio mast...
  13. For a little inspiration... Beta already available for ArmA!!!
  14. twin-engined jet question

Was it the F2H Banshee or was it the P-80 Shooting Star? Good question...
  15. EA Announces Free Battlefield Game

Wait... they're doing this FREE game in 3rd person and with cartoonish design and are expecting that 15-year-old swearing players won't play it?!? Who the heck are they kidding?!? Guess I would be better off reinstalling BF1942...
  16. What was your favorite childhood toy?

For me it was Legos, Transformers and GIJOEs (the 90's and onward lineup). Legos was cool because it let me recreate many things and often I played that with the family (my dad even invented a diode traffic-light system that actually worked, in the time before anything in Lego had a single battery except the ships' engines). Transformers were, well, the beginning of my mecha passion. And GIJOEs because I liked the tv series and they were way cooler than the Playmobil stuff I also had but always looked second-rate compared to the real american heroes (they were the same figure-size so it was possible to play with both, curiously) ...
  17. ARMA Woes

If the 4-legged Wanzer comes as it was in OFP to ArmA, it will also have both - a gatling gun and missiles... Oh and if my memory serves me right, a hefty cannon to boot as well...
  18. ARMA Woes

I agree, it would never be a good-enough sim due to the rather short viewdistance, but I won't mind stomping on you as a grunt me being inside a Wanzer!
  19. Super Tucano da Blackwater

Será que esse calhambeque de Volkswagen Minibus também veio do Brazil?
  20. ARMA Woes

I'll rejoin the ranks of online ArmA players when the patches are satisfiable with regards to stability and definitive plane flight model improvement. And then I'll probably have to wait until Battle of Hokkaido mod comes out with Wanzers - or with other mods or missions that come out with mechs. Until then you can find me on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars servers, with regards to online battlefielding.
  21. how many of you were even born...

Born in '81 so yeah I also got the gust of the Joe vs Cobra 80's wave... Though overall my fav entertainment back then was admittedly Transformers Btw, I think they're making a GI Joe movie, a live action one this time (it was actually scheduled to come out before the Transformers one, then the studios said it would better to make Transformers instead of GI Joe, with the army guys in the movie actually being inspired by GI Joe - those buggies sure look like A.W.E. Strikers now they've planned to do a GI Joe movie - wonder if there's going to be a tie-in with the Transformers universe? If one would remember the 80's cartoon episode "Only Human", such an idea wouldn't be too far-fetched, considering that the comics already had a tie-in as well... Oh well, guess there's nothing left to do but wait and see...
  22. Marcelo Lançou o A-12!

Axo que posso dizer com sinceridade neste fórum que o A-12 irá saír daqui a "2 semanas"!
  23. Women in uniform...

Spectre gunner? Haven't seen a more beautiful "Angel of Death"...
  24. ARMA Woes

Haven't seen any reason to move on from good old WinXP Pro either, Jedi Master... I've read the feedback thread on patch 1.11, seems they got some stuff right but it isn't a definitive patch... I'll reinstall ArmA when the definitive patch comes out... until then I'll keep true to good old Operation Flashpoint
  25. I recently re-read a novel called "The Blond Knight of Germany", about the top-scoring ace of the world Erich Hartmann, and was intrigued by him recalling the fact that, whilst flying in the eastern front in 1945, on more than one occasion, american planes got into dogfights with soviet planes (once because of him because he struck fast and they didn't know what hit them so they blamed their "allies" for it), so I was kinda wonderin', is there any statistic data on how many planes each allied downed of the other during these scraps, which air units were involved etc? It would be curious to know... Also, I know that some US Army ground units pushed farther east than the supposed borderline that would split what after the war would belong to the Soviet Union from what would belong to the western allies, did they fight the soviet ground forces as well? Any data on that?
