Well, you know what they say, also friendly fire has right of way... Though, I was kind of seeking knowledge of incidents regarding the eastern front near the end of WW2, between the US and soviet forces... dwcace, would you know anything more specific about them? Being P-38s I could guess they belonged to the US 15th Air Force, stationed in southern Europe, could that be correct?

Always these problems with the 8k series of nvidia... Guess I made a smart choice choosing the 7950 GT... no gfx problems with anything, still runs most stuff in 1920 x 1200...

Israeli doctor, Trained To Heal And Trained To Kill
TX3RN0BILL replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well, in his particular case though I bet he'll try his damnedest to keep collateral damage to a minimum (or at least he should). And he's somewhat more detached from killing by being in a chopper instead of on the ground, holding a rifle in one hand and a medical instrument in the other, so to speak... It's not as if he could land the chopper there to treat a possible pacient of his own doing... -

Russo UK's (fictional) Sukhoi Prototype
TX3RN0BILL replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I know what you mean, Sparkomatic - I'm already amazed at how much time I'm spending just retexturing the AMX with a texture which I also hope to release, if allowed to do so - and that hasn't even gotten layers... Well, I will DEFINITELY wait for both the Su-47 and Russouk's plane simply because they're more than definitely and absolutely worth the wait!!! (The last time I flew a Su-47 was in Operation Flashpoint...) -
You got a chica caliente there, Trooper... A pity her bird is on its way to extinction... Btw, the first pic of the thread - could be Milla Jovovich's sister...

Russo UK's (fictional) Sukhoi Prototype
TX3RN0BILL replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
That actually isn't a fictional plane - it DOES exist as a prototype... But, DANG!! Loox ShexxxY!!! Me wantsit!!! -
Isn't Mr. T still alive? If so, I think nobody could play B.A. better than him - come on, Ving Rhames is just a comedy relief compared to Mr. T. Dunno who should be Hannibal, but definitely not Sean Connery, he's too old - Though if they're gonna do it comedy-style they could pick Steve Martin, LMAO... But Jim Carrey as Murdock would be spot on. Face would also be hard to play, but I think a good bet would be Luke Wilson. Also, besides Mr. T, it would be nice to have Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz appear in the movie, as an homage to those which entertained us with the fantastic show back in the 80's - no matter how bad the movie will turn out to be... Edit: I heard that Hasselhof is going to appear in the Knight Rider remake... could be fun after all...

Better let your R2 droid do the flying then, since a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, you already hated space travel almost as much as C3PO...

Sorry to drag this topic out of the archive, but I was just wondering how long one has to stand by, or if there's nothing else but the intro screen yet... Was kinda hoping to get the original American NW terrain there...

Is it just my impression, or is that quiz the same as column5's, dwcace? Seems column5 got there before u...

I scored F-22 Raptor on both accounts - how un-sexy!! LOL!!! But, I find the second quiz's Raptor description more fitting than the first: "You are an F/A-22. You are technologically inclined, and though you`ve never been tested in combat, your very name is feared. You like noise, but prefer not to pollute any more than you have to. And you can move with the best." Personally though I think I'm a YF-23

That's why I said it needed a new body (something worthy of the 21st century with all that internal payload and stealth that is nowadays expected to be standard), new technology (avionics etc), and a western engine - it would be easier for Yakovlev to implement all that, rather than other companies trying their first hand at STOVL... That's why I thought Yakovlev has merit...
-
Maybe something based on the Yak-141 Freestyle? With a renewed, less-edgy body, and western engine for those who want it... and other western technology... designed to fit the F-35's role... could prove to be a definite seller...

Dunno if this has been posted before, but check it out... http://www.wired.com/software/coolapps/news/2006/09/71779

There will not be any other like him... Sad day a classic passes away...
-
Well, I'm also counting on the new administration of the company being more efficient than the previous, so that such a morosity like the EF-2000 wouldn't happen again... Maybe SAAB could produce such a fighter then? They don't have any STOVL experience yet but who knows, they're competent enough plane builders... Either SAAB or Yakovlev...
-
They don't make ads like that anymore either...

Re-read my above posts again - I stated that EADS should develop something new in the light fighter with stovl capability... I KNOW the Harrier is out of the window... Now it's time for EADS to build a worthy successor - good enough to beat the F-35!
-
If the air force can buy european tankers, why shouldn't the marines be able to buy a good european stovl fighter should it meet all its requirements?
-
That is, if the F-35B is ever going to be... Somehow I think that the F-35B, if not the entire F-35 project, may buy the farm, with all those cost overruns... Heck, if EADS had half a brain they'd come up with something along the light fighter (with stovl possibility) lines and steal the show from the F-35 (especially since it would also mean european jobs with localized production, and lack of barriers concerning technology exportation)...
