  1. Oh and besides the Battletech realm, in terms of PC games I'd love to see turned into a movie, wouldn't mind seeing the Freespace saga turned into a damn fine movie...
  2. Wings over...

And now for the driest joke of the thread, better do a wing-over than suffer a hang-over!!!
  3. maybe you already had this discussion...

I'd still prefer watching B5 over ST - IMHO ST has just too much cheese to make it digestible!
  4. Oz Defence reviews...

Imagine RAN with a Kitty Hawk carrier... :nyam:
  5. An israeli-cammo-ed NX-01... Back on topic, oh, if only two weeks would be so long in real life... Guess I'll have to keep flying it in my dreams still... But better done right from the start than otherwise...
  6. maybe you already had this discussion...

Thanks FC but I think I'll pass - never was a Trek fan, Star Wars ftw!!!
  7. maybe you already had this discussion...

Looks like they're making a new movie about old Star Trek... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796366/
  8. No catapults?!? If the UK gives up on the acquisition of the F-35s, and no other development of VTOL or STOVL planes occur (somehow I don't think they'll buy Yak-141 Freestyles... ) then they should contemplate adding the ability to launch and recover conventional-flight planes...
  9. I find it strange that the UK doesn't contemplate using a plane with a radar for AEW duty instead of those helicopters with those strange radars hanging out... I mean, the new carriers look like they could manage to launch, land and store E-2 Hawkeyes... The french navy is also after it AFAIK...
  10. HD-Day

Bah, the only new-gen disc player I'm gonna get is either the super-multi-LG drive for PC which can read Blu-Ray AND HD-DVD, as well as normal DVD-/+Rs and -/+RWs as well as CDs -Rs etc... or a multi-disc player for TV which will also be able to play both HD DVD AND Blu-Ray AND DVDs... but both preferably zone-cracked... Cause to have Zones now that the format of HD is the same for all zones (1920 x 1080), there is no reason to keep up with the zone divisions...
  11. Who is actual aircrew?

As a communication scientist I can tell you that it's absolutely normal - no one sounds like one thinks one sounds when recorded - and when recorded one hears the voice the others hear which is different from what you think it is...
  12. Battletech is a great potential, as well other mecha universes, like Macross (live-action though), Heavy Gear, or EarthSiege... Book-wise, wouldn't mind seeing a movie based on Peter F. Hamilton's works Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained... Edit: Oh, and I'm still waiting for someone to make a film of Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash - it will be cheesy for sure, but heck - could even be done as a machinima... just anything!!! It's a classic!
  13. Who is actual aircrew?

I can second that, Kirbykern - although I'm still young, my eyes would already require an operation, since my short-sightedness already made me a no-choice for the armed forces - simply too many dioptries... About my flight time, about 15 mins in a Cessna 152 trainer... Though who knows, might grasp the sky yet...
  14. Inline VS Radial

Tempest II was fitted with a Bristol Centaurus 18-cylinder radial engine which owed much to its installation to the analysis of a stray FW-190 that landed by mistake in England...
  15. I'll download it for sure! Looks great, especially the black-and-red skin with Skull Squadron tails...
  16. Everybody knows it's going to be released in two weeks!
  17. Kosovo

Putin was right though when he said that Europe had double standards: if the EU is going to acknowledge Kosovo, then it establishes a precedent for the independence of, for instance, the Basques in Spain...
  18. Inline VS Radial

I'm partial to the radial engines because radial engines are generally less troublesome than liquid-cooled ones and have been the engines of planes that were suitable for all sorts of tasks. My favourite plane, the FW-190, but also the Jug and the Corsair, are perfect examples of planes with radial engines which fared well both as fighters as well as ground attack. Their only match could be considered the Tiffie and the Tempest, and they weren't as good dogfighters as the Shrike (Würger, the FW-190).
  19. Falling sattelite Uh Oh!

LOL!!! And that squeaky voice also said there was a problem with the vehicle on the pad - as far as I can see it was already flying away from the pad when it blew up - and debris rained all over the entire launch area, not just the pad...
  20. Falling sattelite Uh Oh!

Is there any prediction as to WHERE it will crash should the intercepts fail? (Because as far as I've read they would assess wether to shoot a second after the first had been fired - a total of three SM-3's had been modified to be up to the task and are stationed aboard Aegis cruisers I think)...
  21. The cabbie was impressed with Schumacher's driving, saying that the former F1-pilot never took his pedal from the gas and going through turns with full speed... Supposedly the cabbie then tried to sell the car, driven by Schumacher, on Ebay, or so I heard...
  22. According to the pilot's explanation, it was clearly a "fist sodomisation"...
  23. Falling sattelite Uh Oh!

So, will whatever device that will be used to shoot it down render it harmless or not? What's the SOP and TO&E to be used in this type of situation?
  24. Valentines Day

I've always hated it even when I wasn't alone (which was only the last two years but not this year again) because even when you have company it's not just the fact that everything is over-priced, all the restaurants are booked too! Got turned down this year for a date as well and my backup computer failed to boot as well - all in all a perfect Valentine's Day... NOT!!! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: Edit: Here goes my vote for the Eels to eradicate said date from the memory of all of Mankind forever!!!
