what if planes
TX3RN0BILL replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Oh, what fun I had in Jane's Fighter's Anthology with that beauty... with the J-10 looking like the X-31, the X-29 really is amiss... :nyam: -
Some news about Chinese birds.
TX3RN0BILL replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The J-10... ZOMG!!! Looks like an X-31 without the thrust-vectoring rear end... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockwell-MBB_X-31 http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/x-31.htm -
Imagine, everything being controlled by computer aboard an aircraft, terrorists won't even need to get near the cockpit, they could take over the plane just by hacking it... Gives "cyber-terrorism" yet another plane (pun intended) to act on...

Hmmm, it's already 2008, any news on the english version of this one?

Seems like in the first time in 30 years there won't be a Rally to Dakar, due to the organisation not being able to guarantee the safety of the participants during their passage through Mauritania... Allegedly terrorism threats made the french government warn ASO, the lead rally organisation, wave off this year's edition... Damn...
-
Well, ASO, the organiser of the race, cited that the french government had reasons to believe that the Maghreb division of Al-Qaeda threats mentioning the Dakar race directly as target were credible enough as to pose a real threat, which did not specify where it would be striking the race, hence it wouldn't be something that could be "circumvented" in any way. In the end, everybody is frustrated but also understanding that it's better for all to come back home safely than seeing the race in the news not only because of it's obvious notoriety, but also because of a terrorist attack that had claimed lives... And whilst most entities have already stated their support for the next edition of the race (to be held in 2009), some pilots have claimed that it may be the end of the Dakar race as it is known so far, a race through the Sahara desert, ending at Dakar...

Yes, apparently they're hoping for next year the situation to be better... I just wonder what they're thinking will get better... Well, sending in the French Foreign Legion surely could help... Perhaps...

WOE...anti-ship missions
TX3RN0BILL replied to sparkomatic's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'll see if I can make them work this weekend... As for the ground targets not being visible, I never had that problem with Danger: Bering Straits, probably because it was done from the get-go to work with WoE instead of using other pointers? I dunno - and I never put any other tile set on it to change it in any way, it works just fine for me - hope the upcoming Iraq-Iran (one of my favourite flying terrains because it's so familiar, simulator-wise) as well as the Desert Storm terrain will be non-troublesome in these aspects with WoE... -
WOE...anti-ship missions
TX3RN0BILL replied to sparkomatic's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'll have to look into it but I remember having done something similar for the Israel terrain and two things happened many times- I crashed when I used alt-n, and ground targets weren't visible (part of the terrain instead of a destructable object). The only other terrain I tried was Lybia, with the same effects, plus the bonus that I started off from nowhere - was supposed to be an airport but none was visible... Kinda funny starting off from dirt and having to do so at full AB just to avoid smacking into the mountains that stare you in the face whilst you're getting ready to take off... -
Bem, mais fácil seria arranjar uns AH-6 dos EUA, já que é 1 helicóptero que já deu provas de combate...

Lockheed to supply 18 F-16s to Pakistan
TX3RN0BILL replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Ghostrider, for the US to sell Pakistan conventional weapons is one thing, but as for the nuclear arsenal, I bet the US already has some sort of plan to get hold of those and get them out of the country or neutralise them in some way or the other before any radical islamic nuthead gets anywhere near them... -
The Nighthawks are going to be retired? There goes the last of the "century" aircraft... (unless you decide to call the Phantom F-110 - and of course the RAAF F-111s) - If there ever was an aircraft in U.S. inventory by the end of the 20th century that was uglier than the Warthog, then it must've been the Nighthawk...

Lockheed to supply 18 F-16s to Pakistan
TX3RN0BILL replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Selling F-14's to the Shah (well, taking a good look at the F-14 history, it wouldn't have existed for anybody if it weren't for the Shah's interest and support) was a mistake, but F-16s are wide-spread around the world, don't think they hold any secrets anymore (plus, the F-16 is an OLD aircraft). If it were F-15s of course it would be something else, but F-16s are lightweight fighters... -
WOE...anti-ship missions
TX3RN0BILL replied to sparkomatic's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You're right, Gocad, it's called Bering Straight... it's my fav, too! (Although probably because I haven't found any other that would work right with WOE since WOE is all I got...) sparkomatic, you can get it right here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3150 -
WOE...anti-ship missions
TX3RN0BILL replied to sparkomatic's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's already happened to me that ships were actually floating on land etc, but the few times where I was thrown into nowhere already heading back to base was when I was flying planes whose max speed was way too much anyway (like the MiG-31 Firefox), but randomly that may occur... though, most of the times I use the Alaska map on WoE. Try flying through all waypoints, sometimes when you're approaching the target you have to search for it (it won't always pop up as target for you right away - do some searching, fly over the ships, then you should be able to get them) - and if it comes to worst, fly the waypoints through with autopilot on normal and max time compression, should at least point you in the right direction... -
Anyone interested in Yukikaze aircraft?
TX3RN0BILL replied to Shin_kazama's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Well, in a sense, Battletech is already in OFP, if you count the Macross as Battletech as well (Land-Air Mech anyone? )... - Then of course what would be missing is a Jetfire skin Other than that, I can't say that any Battletech-based mech design was in any way successful or convincing in OFP - the best were still the Wanzer series, with the odd other success also around... -

ZA-9 Kestrel Beta 1.0
TX3RN0BILL replied to Julhelm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Solved the above-posted weaponry problem... wow, what wonders can be achieved with adding stuff to the weapons pylons and adding another type of weaponry (NATO) that the plane would be able to carry... -

Rafale M will operate in USS Eisenhower
TX3RN0BILL replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
Isn't the Rafale more maneuverable than the Super Hornet due to Canards? And forget about the rest, I was stating something about planes flying from US Navy CARRIERS - so don't mix up the rest when it don't belong to the discussion... (AFAIK there will be no Navy F-22s anyway, and the rest of the planes you mentioned weren't meant to be flown from carriers either, except for the Super Hornet and navalized version of the Su-27. The JSF would be the only plane you'd be able to point out as 5th-gen fighter, but it's a little... "meagre" compared to even the Super Bug...) -
This is how I look in the Santa Thread...

Macross Project - Small Update sv-51
TX3RN0BILL replied to foxmonter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Yeah in terms of Mechgames I'm still stuck with Age of Armor and MW3Gold, but I've yet to see something that surpasses Freespace 2 itself... That one was so epic nothing came close since... -
ZA-9 Kestrel Beta 1.0
TX3RN0BILL replied to Julhelm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Congratz, Julhelm, you made a very nice plane! Though I must say that having more than 2 in the air makes my WOE a bit laggy, dunno why that happens but still is a lot of fun. By the way, I have a question, when I'm ingame and try to setup a quick single player mission, no air-to-ground weaponry is available to me (I only have the default WOE weaponry installed so far) - is there anything special I have to do in any of the files to be able to use WOE's default air-to-ground weaponry? I already edited the data to be able to carry sidewinders on all pilons, but air-to-mud weaponry doesn't show, most strangely... Any ideas?
