PORTUGUESE CORPORATION: You buy two calfs. They're healthy and will produce alot of milk. Unfortunately, the cost of the equipment to milk the cows is so expensive you have to mortgage your house, for which you're still paying till the end of your life, just so you can buy the equipment. The equipment arrives and you milk the now cows, but then the next problem arrives - you want to sell the milk. Nobody buys the milk because it is available, imported, at a third of the price in the supermarket. When the banks threaten to evict you because you can't pay the mortgage, you and other cow farmers protest to the government that national produce isn't consumed internally, although national production of milk is near self-sufficient. The E.U. directives though prohibit self-consumption, rather wanting to pay for farmers to not produce milk so it can (forcibly) be acquired from Germany, France, and other E.U. countries. But the portuguese agricultural ministry takes too long to fill out the papers so when it finally moves a bit the compensation offer from the E.U. has already withdrawn. The bank evicts you from your house, the gypsies steal your cows and having too much pride to end your life a beggar, you throw yourself onto some railroad tracks, ending your misery - thus "your" cows outlive you.

Reminds me of a horror book I read when I was a kid... *shudders* Just to think it was somehow possible IRL... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!? Then again I'm wondering how that happened in the first place - doesn't look like it was badly done in the first place... Nobody knows how the damn dam burst... Could it have been sabotage?

I was at home as I was still on holidays from university and I was sitting in the basement on the computer when I got a text message on my cell phone from a swiss friend of mine, a pilot as well also known for his joking around, the message said: "Go turn on the TV, the Twin Towers have been hit!" I thought to myself, what a joke, he's pulling my leg. I had been on the towers 1 month and 1 day before that day, and was filming the coming of dusk, with daylight vanishing and all the lights of the city turning on, I filmed for more than half an hour and I thought to myself: "Stop filming! When you get back here again the Towers will still be here!"... Needless to say, a few moments after ignoring the message I decided to go upstairs to turn on the TV just to see wether it was true or not, and I put it on CNN just in time to see the second plane hit the tower - and I stuck to it throughout the day, event felt falling all those 400 meters when the towers collapsed... a feeling I hope not to feel again!! I visited NY in 2002 - and stood a good 5 minutes in utter silence staring at Ground Zero...

I'm not a big fish-eater, very picky about the few fishy things I actually do enjoy to eat, but I've always had the philosophy that if it isn't part of our natural habitat, we should leave it alone. Umm, that'd also mean no peking duck or geese, but I'm fine with chicken and turkey for substitutes... I say: leave the fish alone!!

Here in Portugal (the western a$$ end of Europe, also a member of PIGS), it is illegal to drive whilst talking on the cell phone in your hand (hands-free cell phone use whilst driving is allowed). Initially it was only a money fine but since portuguese are cell-phone-fanatics the penalty had to be raised to the level that you'd lose your driver's license because of it (plus a hefty fine). Problem is, the cops don't enforce that law very much but the way people drive around whilst talking on their hand-held phones turns it into my nr1 crime for which I'd like to make citizen arrests for... I myself never answer the phone when it rings whilst driving (I don't have a hands-free set) - or if it rings insistently, I just pull over (if possible) and answer it... otherwise I ignore it and call the person back whenever I've reached my destination.

Well you can go for the Thrustmaster RGT Force-Feedback Pro Clutch Edition - though it's probably the most glorified "plastic" wheel there is... As for the buttons, I don't know, but at least in Test Drive Unlimited 2, there's supposed to even be directional lights and at least two headlight illuminations selectable - so I guess those 11 buttons from the Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience should get some use - and at least they're all on the wheel, unlike those on the shifter from the G25/G27... Let's see... Everything from view controls to opening up the windows and of course the obligatory radio control, not to speak of other driving functions - gotta assign the brake to a button methinks cause it makes more sense to put the handbrake to the braking pedal instead... Yep, I think I'll do fine with the buttons... if the G27 had more accessible buttons I would've gone for the Logitech but as it is, I'll go for the cheaper Thrustmaster, until Logitech gets something more to my liking...

Does anybody from here still play the game? I've decided to give it a go since I got a "racing game pang" again after years of absence, basically since I was able to drive real cars, but now somehow I thought it would be nice to grab some asphalt and tear it up... My old Thrustmaster Grand Prix 1 racing wheel is obviously no good anymore (since I don't have an analogue controller port in my PC anyways), and doing a survey of what's out there, I just couldn't find myself to like the Logitech G27 (which is about as much as I'd ever give for racing hardware), so for now I decided to go for a Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience - I know it's a bunch of plastic but I've never seen so many buttons on a wheel itself so I thought it could be the right "budget"-wheel whilst waiting for Logitech to bring out a better one... Also decided to go into this one since I love open-ended environments and the car choices are good (going to get the Megapack addon right away for the extra muscle cars!) - and also as practice for the sequel which should arrive around the beginning of next year...

Yeah, Chris Latta was a great loss indeed... Maybe they could've asked some other voice impersonator to do Chris Latta's voice... oh well... As for british-sounding G1's - you forgot about Perceptor. In any case I think they should have had american-sounding TFs in the movie, since they're american cars as well - if it were to be ironic Bumblebee should be an american car but speaking german-accented english!

Erm, you must be referring to some other version of said major Autobots and Decepticons, because save for Optimus Prime, they hardly "feel like" their G1 (Generation 1) versions. Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee and Starscream speak american english and not british english - and Starscream's the one most missing his characteristic voice. Voice goes a long way to bring them into character. And I'd much have preferred seeing a robot gestalt Devastator rather than that giant quadruped vacuum-cleaner. Oh well. But rest assured, I'll watch the third one anyways. As for the GIJOE movie, I think although the characters weren't exactly like the originals (as much as the original Joes were mostly american whilst this is a multi-national force), it gives an overall better portrayal of a serious super fighting team, unlike the Transformers movie, which looses all the "coolness" due to the moronic humor Bay brings to the Witwicky character - the only improvement over G1 Bay did was probably the Wheelie character, but then again, for me G1 stops at the animation movie - it and what came after it is just puke material...

It gets better - Bay stated that the third movie will have 3D Having grown up in the 80's I'm a fan of the 1st gen and just have to accept that except for Peter Cullen's voice, the movies have nothing to do with anything that came before except some names. They're ridiculous movies at that but for all the transforming madness, I still go see them. Can't wait for the new GIJOE movie though...

I just saw this movie last night at home, and I must say... AWESOME!!! It's so good that I think it really will have a sequel featuring all three remaining characters - in fact, according to the usual fad, I'm even thinking trilogy. But I think the next one would probably be about Red Mist - since it's normal for trilogies to be made these days and since there are three characters, the bad guy would have to be the focus of the second movie (as pretty much indicated by the movie's finishing line). The last of the three movies would ofc be mostly about Hit Girl, where the thesis (Kick-Ass) meets anti-thesis in round two (Red Mist) and forms the synthesis - Good finally prevailing over Evil in the third movie, about the last character needed to be focused on - Hit Girl.

I thought that it was the extremely worrying and sad but real fact that intelligence agencies and analysts all around the world had reached a consensus that it is a matter of "when", not "if", that the world will see a nuclear explosion caused by a nuclear device set off by a "non-state-entity". The nr 1 timeline date to that seems to be the date by which Iran can produce a nuclear weapon - but recent evidence revealing concerns of cooperation between famous "non-state-entities" and the government of Pakistan makes me wonder why that country is still allowed to have nukes. I sincerely hope that the allies in the war against terror keep a sharp eye on those as well as Iran - and act before the time comes so that disaster can be prevented... Putting things in perspective, there was this movie called "The Peacemaker" with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. I never forgot the best phrase from that movie: Kidman: "I'm not afraid of the man who wants ten nuclear weapons, Colonel. I'm terrified of the man who only wants one."

That normally happens elsewhere though normally on longer flights since everybody will be relieved to be off the plane. No offense, but my guess as to why it's a common practice in Russia is that Aeroflot isn't exactly famous for it's lack of airline crashes, so all passengers are normally happy to have survived the flight...
