Any new (or old) SF2 mods in the works?
MaverickMike replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion

Any new (or old) SF2 mods in the works?
MaverickMike replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Its sad that its turned into a job for you guys. Ive seen it before with other modding communities. People are so dedicated to the modding the games that they lose the joy out of playing them... If you guys were to lose all interest in the TW sims does that mean you would not be seen any more on this site? It would be a great loss if we were to lose any of you guys the same way C5 called it a day..... (i dont know the circumstances behind C5's departure and i am not judging it in any way, its just an example) The amount of work that goes into these mods is incredible and I am forever thankful. This place wouldnt be half of what it is without you guys. Mike -
Any new (or old) SF2 mods in the works?
MaverickMike replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I can totally agree with what you guys say on the basis of playing or modding too much. Iv taken a complete break from all TW sims and am currently playing and modding my ArmA2 install (and having some good fun i might add ) . I dont intend on going back to TW sims until a week before the Double D's start their DiD campaign in order to get some training in..... Its important to make sure (in modders case) that they only keep modding as long as they enjoy it. I have seen many people turn modding into a job which then becomes repetitive for them and they lose all enjoyment and end up not even playing the game anymore. Hopefully this will not happen with you guys. So take a break, enjoy the festive season and keep the beer flowing Mike -
Id be more concerned about the two carrier groups. One of the things that make the US such a major peacekeeping force is its ability to react to situations quickly using carrier battle groups. Diminishing this abilty is reducing the US's overall capability to police hotspots and act as a counter-force to certain threats. Lets face it when a carrier battle group is in your neighborhood you aint going to be starting trouble. This force reduction may be the break certain countries or leaders have been waiting for..... The Double D's
MaverickMike replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sorry mate didnt look back through the thread tbh Yeah it would make sense to have an idea of what everyone is flying before getting started. Im all set on the mod front, definately going to be eburger and malibu's SF2:V mod rolling thunder campaign, but im not sure what aircraft to fly, Thud or F-4B/F-4C........ (Not sure whether to go Navy yet either ) Its going to be great and I cant wait to hear the mission reports and see the screenies etc. Mike -

Just a quick question. Do you think it would be a good idea for evryone to say what campaign/aircraft they are flying for the DiD campaign before 1st january? Maybe set an earlier date that people have to choose their campaign by. That way the thread will not be bogged down with posts about what people are flying on the day we begin? Mike -
Incredible. It makes me wonder how these Aholes would have reacted being in some of the combat situations Col. Barfoot had handled. Some people are so dedicated to the rules that they cannot deviate from them whatsoever and use a bit of common sense. Keep fighting Sir Mike

Am I right in thinking that a person can only have one campaign running at any given time? I think this would make sense as you might get people trying to top both the leaderboards if not. Mike -

I agree. Stating the chosen campaign and aircraft including the mods is a must. This will give people an idea as to the difficulty, because as mentioned earlier some campaigns are harder than others. Im leaning towards an F-4C tour in SF2:V with eburgers all inclusive mod. But im also thinking of an RAF .FGR2 campaign in NF4+ too. Or maybe even an FA-18A campaign somewhere. Decisions, decisions Mike -
This is another attempt by scammers to use a situation in an attempt to make money. What a bunch of A**holes. Looks to me like the email has been written by someone that does not use English as their first language. Mike

These rules seem fair enough to me. I guess its going to be a WIP as we will most probably come across issues as we are playing that will need to be decided upon. Guess the next big question is when do we start Mike -
OT - Band of Brothers on Sale!
MaverickMike replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I had the Band of Brothers boxset when it first came out. It was around the £100 mark then. I recently seen it in a local supermarket for £37. Amazing how much prices come down after a while Mike -

If a pilot is wounded and hospitalised the game usually lets you carry on but simulates the time it takes for recovery. If you look at the date you were shot down and the date of the next mission there should be a significant difference. So far ive managed without track IR but its on my xmas list, so I hope Santa will be kind enough to drop one off here this christmas Mike -

Good question about landing. Ive found myself in quite a few situations where, on deep strike missions, I loitered around the target area for too long and not had enough fuel to make it home. In this case I think you should try and get to the nearest airbase or at least ditch in friendly territory. I think this group is going to have to rely on peoples honesty about the pilots statuses, kills etc because there is going to be no way of people proving each others escapedes. Obviously I guess we could all post screenies but thers nothing stopping people from posting two screenies of the same kill and claiming it was 2 etc. Maybe all members of this group will have to 'sign' a truth statement before joining I for one can say I will be 100% completely honest during my posts to the group. Otherwise your only cheating yourself Mike -
