  3. Afghanistan

This story is exactly the point I ws trying to raise in the first place. This lady is obviously highly influenced by the press. I bet that she has no idea of the good things that soldiers do. Indeed if it wasnt for past soldiers then maybe she would'nt have the freedom of speech to be able to call a member of the armed services a murderer. I just hope that the majority of other people do not begin to come around to this persons way of thinking. Mike
  4. F4J Heading out to kick some vietnamese warehouse workers ass!
  5. Nice flying mate . Ive been trying to do the same with the f-35B in sf2. its tricky to say the least Mike
  6. As the topic name suggests im wondering if there are any mods that give aircraft carrier lights. Im finding it quite a pain in the rear end to land on a carrier at night as they are quite difficult to spot from far enough away to begin a proper approach (SF2:V). If such a mod exists could someone point me in the right direction? Cheers Mike
  7. B52H. Gotta love the hardcore mud movers!!!!
  8. Do you think UAV's should replace pilots?

I think a quote from the Matrix is relevant here. "They are governed by rules, because of that they can never be as strong or as fast as you can be". (cant remember it word for word lol) In other words untill (as mentioned earlier) we have true AI that can react to different situations as they arise, instead of reacting in a pre-programmed way based on the programming that was inserted into it at creation, pilots will always be better to have in the thick of the action. Remote controlled on the other hand is very useful. But this still has its limitations. If im correct I believe there is a slight delay in the transmission of directions to a uav as the data is sent to a satellite and then beamed to the UAV. This could cause problems when using the UAV to attack targets in a civilian area. Mike

  11. Some Fairford pics from today

Ok will do. Ill try and get some of them up here 2moro as im off work. Gotta say though its the first big airshow I have been to and personally, i thought it was truly amazing. I went along with my father, two brothers and uncle and we have all said that we will be going to RIAT 10 next year without a doubt. Highlight of the show for me was definately the vulcan. It was just awe-inspiring watching that graceful bird in the air. Fu***ng BRILLIANT!!!!!!! Mike
  12. Some Fairford pics from today

Yeah the orange f-16 was awesome. According to the commentary he pulled a few 9g turns during the show. I have pics of the Vulcan taxiing and the b-52 with the drag chute deployed on landing but I can't upload them cos they are too big. Even tried it one by one and I can't even upload a single pic. 16. Afghanistan

All UK servicemen/women that are KIA are brought back to RAF lyneham. The funeral precession then drives through the small town of Wootton Bassett. Every time a soldier is brought home the people of this small town line the streets and pay their respects to the fallen. It is truly moving to see all the people of this town standing on the streets and giving the soldiers the respect they deserve. Mike
  17. Afghanistan

I remember seeing a news broadcast at the beginning of the current operation where a journalist was standing next to an armoured vehicle and he blatantly said which FOB they were at and that the troops behind him where getting ready to move out to this particular area to clear out the suspected taliban stronghold. (sorry guys can't remember the exact details) I sat there stunned, WHAT MORE OF A WARNING DO THE TALIBAN NEED!!!!!!!! Mike
  18. Afghanistan

Thats exactly my point. Given that the troops have been given shoddy equipment the death toll should be much higher, the reason that it isnt the case is because of the training, discipline and hard work of the troops, yet the media are more concerned with the negative aspects than publicly praising the troops, typical example is the 15 killed this week. this sounds bad when said this way, yet if the media gave a counterbalance to this statement saying how many taliban were killed or captured it would make it that much better. I think if the general public are not aware of the situation and are only watching or reading what the media are saying then they will begin to turn against the war. I really hope this does not happen. Mike
  19. Afghanistan

I just can't understand why attempt to turn people against the military. Personally i think it should'nt be allowed. They always seem to show the negative part of the war i.e. how many soldiers have been killed today, and not the positive thing they are doing. Mike

  21. "the only thing that is stopping me, is my parents. I dont want to let them down. " Though your parents do not like the thought of you joining the marines, im sure they will support your decision. Eventually they will be proud of what you have achieved. I can't imagine any parents not being proud watching their son/daughter passing out . Mike
