  1. Something HAS to be missing, or misnamed for that to happen.
  2. Somethings screwed-up, big time. Looks as if someone's messed with the weapon's call out. In your installs groundobject folder, look for the SA-10L folder, and once inside, look for the SA-10L_data.ini. Now, open the SA10L_data,ini with notepad, scroll down to the Launcher Tube entries. There should be 4 of them, numbered "[LauncherTube01]" through "[LauncherTube04]". Make sure that they all have this line: WeaponTypeName=SA-10 Next, check your weapons folder for the SA-10 folder (these contain the missile files). There has to be one in there in order for this to work. Inside that folder should be four files. 1)5V55K.bmp 2)5V55K.LOD 3)SA-10.ini 4)SA-10_data.ini Let us know if any of them are missing.
  3. It's not any of the aforementioned . It's an issue in the solid object texture entry in the terrain data.ini, caused by how the terrain engine (now) calls out the objects, as opposed to how Stary set them up, originally. And to clarify things, the object in question is a windmill.
  4. Neither series handles blast-effect on terrain objects very well (though ground-objects are easily killed within the blast radius). Terrain objects such as hangers are best taken out with a direct-impact weapon. Lowering any of their damage values or expanding their damage points simply make them susceptible to being destroyed by light machine gun fire, which is much more unrealistic, IMO.
  5. HOLY s**t!

    It's Dave's birthday
  6. Mrs. Crab_02 delivers

Congrats to you and the Missus, Dave
  7. HOLY s**t!

Well, someoine better tell ICQ: USAFMTL has a birthday Today is USAFMTL's birthday! Send USAFMTL a greeting card
  8. Black tracers? What in God's name for? They'll be illuninated grey anway, at night The tracer TGAs can be found in the first object folder, and when you create a new/modded one, you must place them in the objects folder, and if they're unique to a specific weapon (gun), you'll have to make the appropriate changes to that gun's data.ini. KillerBee spelled it out in the knowledge base.
  9. They have little or nothing to do in this series, so I don't use them. In theory, one can extrapolate CL0 from the CL value, but since there's no provision for calculating (or even directly inputting) data for the various airfoil types, I find it a moot point. Creating a precise V-N curve, and applying it to the series, is likewise moot. Try it, and see what happens This should be of help: http://adg.stanford.edu/aa241/structures/vn.html
  10. No offense, but did it ever occur to you that perhaps people have real lives outdside of simming? Number one, percentage of Cla divided among wing panels is arbitrary, in a common-sense sort of way. Inner wing panels generally have a deeper chord than outer panels, and this is where common sense comes in. What do you think creates more lift, an A-4's (or F-4, or MiG-21, or F-15, or an Su-27's) outer wing panel, or the inner wing panels? An Israeli F-15 once landed with a mere stub of a wing remaining....what does that tell you? As for which Mach level to use when calculating CLa, again, that's common sense. TK uses Mach 0.4...or you can use Mach 1.0, or Mach 0.05....remember that there are CLa Mach tables. Common sense at work, yet again.
  11. Just about all combat aircraft have a "gear-down, weapons-safe" feature, so it is realistic. And, gamewise, that feature is hard-coded, so no, you cannot disable it.
  12. helos instead of tankers on reactor

The TMI accident occured on March 28, 1979, not 1987. It was essentially over within a week, although it took them about 1 month to finally shut the reactor down.
  13. Engine sounds do not require a soundlist entry (as it already has one). Neither do afterburner, airbrake, windloop, tire touch, flap, and landing gear sounds.
  14. Ed Rasimus's "Bat Bird" for SF2V

    Version

    335 downloads

Bat Bird Texture pack by: Fubar512 This texture-set represents Ed Rasimus's F-105D, "The Bat Bird", as it would have appeared in its heyday. The USAF had not fully implemented the two-letter tail code in those days, so birds from the 421st TFS flew with their vertical stabs unadorned, save for an abbreviated code. And that code consisted of the last digit of the fiscal year in which a particular bird was ordered, followed by its 4-digit serial number. "Nose Art" was not officially authorized, so the Bat Bird insignia was present for only two weeks during Ed Rasimus's tour with the 421st. I've also taken the liberty of tweaking a few values in the F-105D-66 flight dynamics file, including its power plant's thrust values and altitude tables. The former was corrected to the proper values for a J75-P-19W mill, the latter simply an expanded table to more accurately reflect performance at altitude. Engine, gear, and flap sounds have also been provided. Installation: Simply extract the contents of the zip archive into your SF2V mod folder. It will overwrite only one file (the F-105D_66.ini file), and that will no effect it in any other way, other than changing the displayed model's name to it's correct one, and adding the necessary lines of code for the new texture-set. It will also create sounds folder, if you did not have one, already. If you're unsure of the location of your mod folders (it's location depends on which flavor of Windows you're running), simply go to the SF2 knowledge base at www.combatace.com, where you'll find all the help you need, and then some : ) Enjoy.... fubar512
  15. helos instead of tankers on reactor

The answers pretty obvious. It's a concept known as "precision" Perform the following Google search (parenthesis, commas, and all) "Chernobyl, helicopter, boron", and you'll see why.
  16. I recall watching a documentary on the A-4 Skyhawk, and what I got out of watching it, was a new-found respect for the scooter, namely how incredibly well-built it was. They showed early landing-gear fatigue testing, were an A-4 prototype loaded to simulate max gross weight was dropped onto a concrete pad from some 3 meters height. If my memory serves my right, the test model achieved 24 fps just before the tires hit the concrete, and they repeated this "torture" test several hundred times, in order to simulate a lifetime of carrier landings.

    Please check in....
  18. Calling Sparkomatic

You're right....his reports wouldn't be any more inaccurate than they are with the current crew, and he'd certainly be a lot more entertaining to watch. Hell, CNN would probably gain the lion's share of viewership, with BB on the staff
  19. Calling Sparkomatic

CNN? The "Crappy News Network"? I believe that they hired Baghdad Bob as their "Minister of field operations".
  20. When you go to a pistol range to shoot, should there be "enemy" snipers laying in wait for you? It's a range, not hostile territory.
  21. Averages mean little in this case. For example, one cannot equate an A-4 to an F-105, so the use of averages works against one in that case. Also, how does one compensate for an aircraft with a high-polar moment of inertia versus one that has a low-polar one? What of modern fighters, which almost to the very last, are tail heavy by comparison to their predecessors from 40 years ago? My point is that moments of inertia need to be calculated and tailored for every model.
  22. Yep.... And TK has not added the necessary DX10 parameters to the graphics.dll for neither the pixel, nor the vertex shader. No biggie, as it's mostly for eye-candy, and I'm sure that a proper fresnel shader would take a sizable chunk out of frame rates when flying over water.
  23. Calling Sparkomatic

I wasn't sure if you were in Kadena, or in Misawa. In either case, Dave assured me that all was fine.
  24. Ah sorry, but stereo sound effects do not work in either series. I've just attemprted it, loading a stereo windloop, and it does not work until I reencode it as monoaural.
  25. 30% load is nothing. As to the other issues, it sounds as if something else is attempting to share memory space with whichever TW sim you're running, or some application has a bad memory leak, and parts of its code are still in system memory when you run SF2.
