  1. The "_holes" prefix is no longer used. The format now is simply "TextureName_damage.DDS"
  2. Cowboys & Aliens

And you think that's a new & original concept? How about a 39-year old western, starring one of the staples of the genre (Charles Bronson)...teaned up with a Samurai? http://www.fandango.com/redsun_v40749/summary
  3. The worst movie ever

Absolutely! I love the classics; The War of the Worlds, Forbidden Planet, Earth vs the Flying Saucers, The original versions of The Thing, and "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (and many more, of course). Regarding the latter...I had to watch it several times to offset the negative experience of watching the remake.... I mean really.....Keenu Reeves as Klatuu? With his lack of acting ability, they'd have been better off casting him as Gort

  7. Funny

I saw this sign being painted onto the inside face of the glass facade of a local shopping plaza. From the vantage point of the parking lot in front of the building, it proudly proclaimed (in 10 foot tall letters), "NEPO ERA EW SEY"... I do believe that they confused the facing
  8. Funny

Drove by today with my camera, and unfortunately, they'd fixed the sign
  9. no threat to national security?

The sustainer effect is, and always has been, the "inflighteffect". I've no idea why TK even added a sustainer effect line, as it simply confuses people.
  10. You cannot take off from a carrier in either SF series, in a random mission. You have to have a mission specifically written with a carrier lauch and recovery in it. Those are referred to as scripted missions, BTW.....
  11. no threat to national security?

I already linked to this THREE posts above your first one.... http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/11/09/mystery-missle-launch-off-california/
  12. SF2 at the latest patch level runs much faster in DX10 then it ever did under DX9. And DX10-HDR is built in as of the latest patch.
  13. It is possible to effectively impose a G-limit on a given flight model, and thereby simulate FBW controls to a degree. For example, I set up the F-117 FM in the original ODS pack using this method. It involves setting up the XMAC tables for the aircraft's lifting surfaces (and balancing them against the lift values for the stabilators), in such a way as to limit the aircraft's ability to exceed a set G limit at all speeds. It easily accomplished via a bit of trail & error, and (as FastCargo would say) a lot of "skull sweat" One then needs to compare the FMs performance against published performance curves, and adjust as necessary to make the end result seem believable.
  14. SF2 with the new Korean war mod. All I did was to add a bit of faux heat-blur, and play with the contrast and color saturation.
  15. In full AB, or in mil power? In full ab, a Hornet should be able to sustain 9 Gs in a horizontal turn, without bleed off.
  16. Quick n Dirty vid, using Razbam's Banshee, and a few tentative peeks at the upcoming Korea terrain....effects by Stary, Terrain by Wrench.... Banshee!.wmv
  17. no threat to national security?

The madness extends beyond contrails. I once watched a show on UFO hunters, where the self-proclaimed UFO-hunters set up at a location in New Mexico. Once it became dark, they pointed their low-light camera at what they called a "UFO". The footage had a time and date stamp clearly visible. I fired up an appp that I use for star-gazing, set the coordinates to match the date, time, and the general area where these guys were filming...and low and behold, I discovered that they were tracking (and filming) a satellite, and calling it a UFO! You just can't make this s**t up.
  18. Sweet...paper airplane takes photos of space

I'll bet that paper airplane achieved almost Mach 1 not long after its release from that altitude.
  19. no threat to national security?

Yes, it had to be the new "SS E-ICBM" (Super Slow & Extremely - Irritating Contrail Belching Missile), launched by the Togo Imperium.
  20. First off, irregardless what it says in the model's loading screen and drop down menu, it's properly referred to as an "Su-27", not an "SU-27"....just thought you'd like to know Naming conventions and in-service dates would be the first two items I'd check. In regards to naming conventions, keep in mind that AA-8x = R-60x, AA-10x = R-27x, AA-11x = R-73x, etc. See what they're named in your weapons folders. In regards to service dates, There were no Archers (AA-11) commonly available before 1989, and no Adders until after 1990-1993. AA-8 Aphids were available since the mid-1970s, with the all-aspect Aphid-B being used on both MiG-29s and Su-27s from 1984 onwards (the intro date for both airframes).
