Anti-ship in WOV;How to?
Fubar512 replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I beg to differ. The "Tonkin Gulf Incident" is a single mission, and it's certainly anti-ship. I also uploaded a misson, "The Higbee Incident", where the player flies a VPAF MiG-17F in an anti-ship mission against an American DD (the USS Higbee). I've also seen screenies of sampan-busting missions, in YAP. -
Very nice, FC. But every man eventually needs a place to relax, and in that vein.... and

Here's the "pristine" bullet, properly known as CE399 (Commission Evidence 399) seen from the butt end. I certainly would not call it pristine, though I'm sure that the great forensics and ballistics expert, Oliver Stone, would beg to differ.

Well, this is sort of my man cave. Consider it a mobile cave with a view. The lower "pit" (yes, it's referred to as the cockpit): The helm station (my "flight" deck): And, my personal "cave" . There's a 23" LCD and DVD player, which you can almost see reflected in the mirror to the right.

The magic bullet was far from pristine, as it was actually deformed in slightly banana-like shape. How interesting that it's almost always photographed while oriented on it's undeformed axis. Similar rounds fired into ballistic gels and animal tissue with the same approximate density as (both) a human thorax and wrist have also emerged sporting similar deformations.

BEAR FM PROBLEM
Fubar512 replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
In the world of TW data.ini files, the first "5.0" value (as you wrote it) would translate to five meters offset to the right, the second would be five meters offset forward, though you got the last one right; a positive figure there would mean 5 meters above the centerline -5.0,-5.0,5.0 is what you meant, Russ -
Two, and possibly three attempts were made. Read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unite...nation_attempts

Well, a lone wacko nut-job managed to get close enough to point a loaded .45 at Gerald Ford, and another managed to shoot Reagan, and yet another managed to bring an SKS literally to the entrance of the White House, and got off 29 rounds at a group of men, one of whom the nut-job thought was Clinton. Yet, there's no conspiracy theories surrounding those three acts.

BEAR FM PROBLEM

Move your CG forward. -
Increasing damper values on any axis (in an FM's flight control section) directly effects the player's FM, by limiting control surface deflection angle, and deflection rate. That would explain why some models may tend to feel less twitchy with increased values. However, you must realize that you may be compromising that FM's performance somewhere else along the curve.

Wings Over Europe Carriers

The aforementioned (mission radius), or limiting the aircraft's fuel load, are the only two methods that come to mind. -

Re-read my first post, and you'll understand why it won't work that way. -

There's an old saying that I often find myself repeating to recreational boaters who ask my advice in equipping a boat for offshore fishing or cruising. And that is: "If given even the slightest opportunity, the sea will always do its damnedest to kill you. Out there, halfassed all but guarantees full-dead "

Who's the unseen guy with the white cat in the first two or three Bond movies? Who's the bald guy with what appears to be the same white cat (but this time, in a wheelchair), that Bond drops down a factory chimney at the beginning of "For Your Eyes Only"? Who's grave was it, that Bond visited at the beginning of the same film? Wait, could there be a storyline here? One that a newcomer to the series may have not picked up, unless they've seen the first seven or so Bond flicks, beforehand?

Ship problem...

What's this "we" stuff? Dave, Crusader, and myself have been getting walloped.... -
From a Bond-centric website "The Bond of Ian Fleming's novels – widely held to be a romanticised projection of Fleming himself – was a violent, sardonic man of a dry humour and formidable appetites. "I hate small portions of anything," he once declared. He particularly likes scrambled eggs, which he will eat at any time of day, and – until recently – he liked smoking. In Ian Fleming's novels, he smokes 60 untipped, oval-profile cigarettes a day – a blend of Balkan and Turkish tobaccos mixed specially for him by Morland's. In recent years, he seems to have given up. He's particular about his drinks – insisting that they be "very large and very strong and very cold, and very well-made". His stipulation that his martinis be "shaken, not stirred" is controversial among connoisseurs of the tipple (it results in a cold, but unacceptably dilute drink). He has been known to drink both gin and vodka martinis – though for reasons of product placement, recent films have seen him favour vodka. Bond's romantic appetites, like those of his creator, are marked by a streak of sexual cruelty. Rosamond Lehman speculated that Fleming "gets off with women because he cannot get on with them"; his fictional alter-ego had a highly questionable attitude to sexual violence, noting of the first ever Bond girl, Vesper Lynd, that "the conquest of her body, because of the central privacy in her, would each time have the sweet tang of rape". Bond's sexual tomcattery didn't preclude more serious attachments, though. In Casino Royale he contemplated leaving the service to be with beautiful, troubled Vesper Lynd; a course of action thwarted by her suicide. "The bitch is dead now," he reports, sentimentally. In On Her Majesty's Secret Service he went as far as to get married to beautiful, troubled Countess Teresa "Tracy" di Vicenzo – a union, again, thwarted by her death, this time in a drive-by shooting."

The first two Moore films were not the out-of-control gadget fests that the next two were, but they did not fare well at the box office. A survey performed by Eon Productions in late 1975, showed that Bond fans wanted to see "more action and gadgets", and "The Spy Who Loved Me" was the result. It did very well, especially when one takes into account that (at the time) it was competing with Star Wars for ticket sales. With MoonRaker, it appeared that Eon adhered to the principle of "If a little action & gadgetry is good, then a lot more of the same must be great!". It tanked....and Eon went back to basics with "For Your Eyes Only", which was probably the best of the Moore films, though Moore seemed a bit out of his element, attempting to portray Bond in a manner that was more suited to Connery, or even Lazenby.

adding sounds to the game

These lines were added with SP5, and you'll find them in the aircraftobject.ini file, which must be extracted from the objectdata.cat: [WindSoundOpen] MinSpeed=25.0 MinVolume=10 MinVolumeSpeed=25.0 MaxVolume=100 MaxVolumeSpeed=100.0 MinFreq=0.8 MinFreqSpeed=25.0 MaxFreq=1.6 MaxFreqSpeed=300.0 [WindSoundClosed] MinSpeed=100.0 MinVolume=0 MinVolumeSpeed=100.0<-----approx 200 kias (change to 295) MaxVolume=80 MaxVolumeSpeed=300.0<----apprx Mach 1 MinFreq=0.8 MinFreqSpeed=100.0 MaxFreq=1.6 MaxFreqSpeed=300.0 Make sure that you edit the windloop so it does not, errrrr...loop You can accomplish that by editing its soundlist.ini entry. You'll find that in the flightdata.cat -
adding sounds to the game
Fubar512 replied to coolpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds for this series must be in a monoaural.wav format, so yes, you'll have to convert your MP3 to a .wav file. Also, sounds are tied to specific events that are hard-coded into the game-engine. As such, there is no event for an external sonic-boom, though you may want to look at the data entries for open-cockpits, specifically (hint), when the windloop begins and ends.... -
A true loss. I've just finished reading 'State of Fear' a few weeks ago.

Personally, I feel that the Brosnan films were quite tacky....not quite as bad as some of the Moore films, but certainly not up to the standards of the first two Connery films. Danial Craig's Bond breathes new life into the series.
