  1. Let me get this straight...you want the pilot to perform a Linda Blair ala 'The Excorsist"? In the aircraftobject.ini [PilotHeadMovement] PilotPitchUpLimit=30.0 PilotPitchDownLimit=-20.0 PilotYawLimit=90.0<-----change this value PilotPanYawRate=80 PilotPanPitchRate=35 PilotCheckRate=2.5 PilotLookCameraChance=50 PilotLookTargetChance=75 PilotLookDownChance=25 PilotLookScanChance=50 PilotLookTurnMinG=2.0 PilotLookTurnAngle=4.0 PilotLookTurnChance=20 PilotLookGroundMinAlt=1000.0 PilotLookGroundChance=80

  3. What you saw is due to the terrain shader effects, and not a rearragement of the "sand" due to wind effects. That is not modeled. Zoom to full screen in this video and look at the "sand" in the background when the second '117 takes off...that's the shader effect in action. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...si&img=4236
  4. These are based on on actual sounds from a Discovery Wings segment on tests performed on a captured MiG-15's gun pack. Rate of fire sound effects, were adjusted in Sound Forge to match the real-life ROF. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...si&img=4066
  5. Since the multiple guns on a given aircraft fire at once via an electric trigger, the gun fire sounds do not "combine" giving it an effect as one might hear from a weapon with a greater ROF. I had the pleasure of working with several WWII vets in my time. I recall one saying (from the perspective of a ground pounder in New Guinea) that the guns on a Mustang or Corsair making a strafing run sounded like "an old flathead Ford V-8 driving along with open pipes and a misfiring cylinder". The M39, the Mauser revolvers, and the GSH-23s and 30-1s all have a similar rate of fire, and should sound pretty much alike. That's why I use the same sound effect for them, which I mixed in Sound Forge, at 1200-1500 pulses per minute.
  6. It's been in use since the original release of SFP1, so, yes, you can use it across the series.
  7. Go to downloads, select add file, select the category under which you'd like to upload your work, and then follow the prompts. You do not have to create a thumbnail for your file, simply post a regular screen shot (5 mb max size), and the system will automatically resize it to a thumbnail, on the uploaded file's page.

  10. A little story, that's just a bit off topic. Back when we were beta testing the release candidate for WoE, a bunch of us got together for a some really killer online play. After everyone else finished for the evening, Dave (USAFMTL) and I decided to try adding a few third-party aircraft, the uber-AI mod, the RWR symbology mod, the BVR mod distance mod, and the then-current weps pack to to the sim, and then made sure that we both had the same install. We then selected an online strike mission, and decided to fly cover for a strike package (we both selected F-15As). While on the way to the target, I saw the tell-tale bat wing symbols of airborne intercept radars appear at the 12 O'clock position of my RWR. Dave and I commanded our wingmen to engage, which they did with Sparrows. Dave and I followed up with Sparrow shots of our own, and watched as the missiles struck home and killed the majority of what turned out to be a flight of MiG-23s. I then heard my RWR track-warning tone go off, and saw more bat wing symbols appear at my three O'clock. A flight of MiG-29As had snuck in above us while we were occupied with the 23's. Dave dropped his tanks, broke hard right , and engaged as the '29's merged with our flight. I saw a '29 flash across my nose going from 3-9, and I turned after him, smoking him with a '9L. My attention then turned to Dave, who calmly asked if I'd very much mind getting "these effin bandits off my tail". I looked up and saw him in a vicious rolling scissors with a Fulcrum, with two more Fulcrums on his six. I went into burner, pulled up and to the right, and got tone on one of the "specks" in front of me....but, was it Dave, or was it one of the Fulcrums? "Dave, dump flares, now!" I set a '9L loose, and watched it snake it's way into the bandit that was nearest to Dave's six. Dave had by now hosed his bandit with his M61, and was attempting to reverse on the remaining Fulcrum, which was pointless, as I'd already sent two 'limas after him. The first one was fooled by the bandit's countermeasures, the second one blew his enpennage right off. Splash three! Dave and I then flew off for home.... Try getting that level of satisfaction from any other type of game or sim.
  11. All that you need to do is change the height of the sightline relative to the pit. Changing the negative G issue would effect the aircraft's ability to pitch down at all airspeeds, most notably at lower speeds, where you'd need the full range of negative pitch. This series does not model FBW control systems, though you might want to take a stab (pun intended) at creating a Mach table that limits the efficiency of the horizontal stabs in positive deflection.
  12. While flying a recon mission over Syrian airspace in WoI (date set to 1982), I encountered this......
  13. Sparko, the SF engine isn't anywhere near that sophisticated. So, yes, it targeted me. See the point (in the exhuast trail)where booster separation occured? It was nowhere near me....lol
  14. Just for grins (and since you're using them as AI birds), try: PitchDamper=8.0 RollDamper=4.0 YawDamper=1.0 And see what happens.
  15. Short of a complete overhaul of the B-52's flight model, there's no proper fix, although you can try doubling or even quadrupling the pitch damper value in its data.ini file.

  17. The Israeli's also used the M42 "Duster", which I've also added just to keep things "interesting". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M42_Duster
  18. The model used in WoI isn't a real '21bis anyhow. It uses the 21MF's lod. The real '21bis has the dorsal spine extending past the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer. I remember someone was working on an authentic 'bis model a while back, but AFAIK, it was never completed.
  19. Yes Wrench, I've been adding the "missing pieces" to round out my WoI install, and Harold's SA-5 model was one of them. I've also seen more than a few Syrian and Egyptian aircraft fall prey to Israeli Hawk batteries, too
  20. The person who made this available for download has a nasty habit of using either people's work without permission, or without crediting them for it.
  21. Malibu, Google is your friend: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4154 Their conclusions: IMAGE QUALITY I'm sure by now you've noticed an abundant lack of the screenshots which usually accompany my reviews. Simply put, image quality on the X3100 is, much like the framerates often are, erratic. I've played very little on it where there wasn't some kind of artifact that creeped up, be it the odd polygon here, or nasty texture flicker there. About the only game I ran on it that seemed to look right was Far Cry. And then there's the erratic performance to discuss. While a couple of games like Far Cry and F.E.A.R. delivered as well as any competing ATI or nVidia part, the majority of my experiences with the X3100 have been disappointing. In some games, framerate slowdown appears random. In others, it goes to hell in places an ATI or nVidia part wouldn't struggle with.
