  1. Not really....in fact, not at all. The images posted above are the result of a few environmentsystem.ini tweaks, specifically dealing with ambient light color and sun light intensity.
  2. Likewise, there is no way to change the weather in coop. In other words, what you see in the options and briefing, is what you get. This is by design, and TK has stated numerous times that he has neither the resources, nor the inclination, to make it otherwise. Sorry.
  3. Buildings are not considered ground objects. They're terrain objects, as listed in the terrain_types.ini file, along with trees, fuel & oil tanks, antenna masts, etc.
  4. Lights will not work as such on ground objects, since there is no provision in the game code for them. Any 3rd party ground object model that has lights, is in reality, using a tga that is incorporated into the model's lod file.
  5. Yes, the Mirage 2000 is currently a WIP.
  6. Why are you all putting this guy through the wringer? Duiker, in options, under "simulation difficulty", select "customize". You'll get an etirely new set of options ( sub options? ) to play with. There, you'll find a setting for ammo usage, which can be set to "easy", giving you unlimited gun ammo.
  7. The Cobra is of dubious value in a dogfight. Yeah, stand still so that you make a nice, sitting target for cannon shells, or a non-maneuvering one that exposes both exhaust nozzles and leading edge signatures to an IRM. Trust me, this has been proven to be the case, though I cannot reveal my sources They (the Sukhoi bureau) actually played with rearward facing IRMs because that manuever does not allow enough time for a IRST or missile-mounted seeker to aquire lock. The real advantage of being able to exceed Max Alpha is during a lag pursuit at a speed slow enough to allow one to momentarily pull lead on the target for a cannon shot. Both the Su-27 and the MiG-29 have excellent laser designator/range finders for their cannon.
  8. You have to know about these things when you're king, you know.
  9. Really? Mach 4+ isn't fast enough? Or are we having a bit of a misunderstanding regarding physics, specifically, how air pressure effects air speed readings taken via pitot tubes (IAS), as opposed to true air speed (TAS)? Zur, there are a few issues that we may need to discuss about this puppy. The SF series models the environment quite accurately (hence your model's flaming butt), so you cannot apply any cheats, there. However, I've always had a twisted fascination with physics, and I may have a few screwy solutions for you.

  11. Su-27 Cobra Video: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...si&img=2471 Su-27 Tail Slide Video: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...si&img=2472 'Nuff said. Kreelin, the person whom you should thank for this masterpiece, is a friend of mine, and has done a lot for the community. But in all fairness, here's how you perform a Cobra. Start in straight and level flight below 350 KIAS (ideally, around 250). Pull up abruptly, past Max permissible Alpha (you'll probably hear both the Alpha and the Over G tones as you do so). At the point where airspeed bleeds off enough so that you start experiencing wing rock, push down on the stick and firewall the throttles to regain airspeed. You should be back in a straight and level flight mode. Here's a helpful page if you have further questions regarding flight dynamics : http://www.style.org/unladenswallow/

  13. You're not serious, are you? The Cobra is easy to execute in SF, even on hard flight settings. Just fly exactly as it's done in real life.
  14. I have to disagree with you, my friend. Even when slowed down 370 knots, and in a wide-screen format, it looks pretty much spot-on to me. Perhaps someone with real experience like Zerocinco or Typhoid will chime in and tell us whether they agree with me, or not. Check out this video: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...si&img=2465
  15. Su-27-TVC

LOL...please read the previous posts. We've been talking about that all through this thread. That ability is porked in SF, as the TV axis will not work in negative (pitch up) deflection when linked to the pitch axis.
  16. I do not have the switchblade model, so I can only guess that the behavior in question is due to either (or both) of the following: A) Exceeding inlet, EGT, or oil temp settings b) Operating for an extended time in excess of 105% RPM To illustrate those effects here, I have my own flight model for the MiG-25PD. In real life, the maximum permissible speed with a war load (according to published sources), is Mach 2.83. The aircraft easily attains that velocity at 45,000 feet and 102% RPM: http://forum.combatace.com/uploads/1172413...9_43_107485.jpg At 107% RPM, it is possible to hit Mach 3.2 in clean configuration (or, in this case, Mach 3.07 with a war load), above 50,000 feet. However, as in real life, those engines will only attain that air speed once http://forum.combatace.com/uploads/1172413...9_43_127061.jpg

  18. Su-27-TVC

Well, that's not an entirely accurate statement, either.... Notice the nozzle & tailplane angle, here:
  19. Su-27-TVC

See, pitch-axis based TV is broken. The nozzles should pitch up with the horizontal stabs, to enhance maneuverability in the positive pitch axis. Pitching down is all but useless, unless the nozzles are linked to differential elevons for added roll control. I'll email Marcello for you...but he'd probably rather wait for TV to be fixed before adding TV nozzle animatiom.
  20. Su-27-TVC

I have an idea; Post a screenshot with the nozzles (or effects, in your case), and horizontal stabs pitching up, and I'll get a hold of Marcello for you.
  21. The speeds on all the aircraft you've mentioned are correct, in game. You are confusing indicated air speed with true air speed.
  22. Actually, that wasn't that FM's only issue. The "MaxSpeedSL" value was too low, and that effects Vmax at all altitudes. As a rule, the CDO tables are predicated on the rule that aerodynamic drag increases exponentially as a function of increased indicated air speed.
  23. There is no way to change the 3D model without getting the original source file from the developer. And if you did, you'd still need access to 3DSmax in order to export the model back into the game.
