  1. The Foxbat (MiG-25PD) model by Tomcat74 and Wpnssgt has been out since the Summer of 2004.
  2. These are updated data and sound files for the WoE A-10A. They will: 1) Add an updated and unique engine sound to your A-10A 2) Add a more realistic "jet cockpit" sound 3) Add a pseudo "heat blur" effect to the exhaust To install, simply extract the contents of this zip archive into your main Wings over Europe folder.
  3. You need to acquire a target with radar before you can launch either a Semi Active Homing Missile (SAHM) such as an AIM-7 Sparrow, or an Active Homing Missile (AHM), such as an AIM-54 Phoenix or AIM-120 AMRAAM. In the AIM-7's case, you also need to maintain target lock while the missile's in flight, or it will not guide. Here's an excellent guide by Streakeagle, that should help you understand the process: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=11165
  4. The Su-24M model, by Tomcat74 and Wpnssgt, is waiting for some minor detail work. Ditto for the Su-27 by MarcFighters. There are two Su-25 variants in the works, one by Wpnssgt, and one by MarcFighters. But, there are Su-9, Su-11, Su-15, and Su-17 models available (the latter with it's own pit, by Armour Dave) , and they have been out for sometime. There are 5 different MiG-23 variants out there. There is a MiG-29A by Wpnssgt available , and a newer, highly detailed MiG-29A by the Mirage Factory is in the pipeline. There are Tu-2 and Tu-16 models out, and they'll soon be a Tu-22M. Of course, don't forget Pasko's excellent MiG-15, or the Mirage Factory's MiG-21F13. Dave, did I leave anything out? Oh yeah , you need to perform a search here, at SimHQ, and at Thirdwire for Model announcements. Some download sites are (here at) CombatAce, Column5's, and ArmourDave's Edit: I knew I forgot something, Tomcat74's MiG-25PD.....
  5. A scenario for you: It was 11:45 AM, the developer responsible for the subtitles had nothing more than a black coffee and one slice of toast for breakfast (almost six hours before), and he was thinking Arby's......
  6. So it had already been up and approved? Then you'd have to ask USAFMTL. Personally, I've never noticed it (and, I may have been the one who approved it's upload )
  7. You must not have uploaded it correctly. I have not been prompted to approve a file for a couple of hours, now.
  8. Eh oh uh ee oh uh? Uh er ck eh oh er it oh!
  9. Make sure that the aircraft folders aren't nested within folders of the same name. That's an issue with WinRAR extractions.
  10. I've covered this same issue less than a week ago. Perform a search here and you'll find the answer...
  11. There may not be any "limits", other than those imposed by real-world data. Most flight models for SF & WoV are based on real world data. We've found that the majority of complaints regarding speed & performance stem from an unfamiliarity with the difference between indicated and true airspeed. In short, the air speed that you read on the game's info display in the lower left side of the screen is indicated airspeed, not true air speed. It's a matter of reduced air density at altitude, which also effects how a given aircraft "feels" at altitude. This aspect of the game is realistic. An aircraft that can sustain 8 g's at 600 knots at or near sea level, cannot achieve that level of performance at 35,000 feet, if it can't hit 600 knots indicated airspeed (which would be close to Mach 2.0 at 35,000 feet).
  12. Me knows that no A-6 had CCIP (or HUD displays, for that matter) during the Vietnam war
  13. MiG-21MF SP4 Flight Model

    Version

    483 downloads

This is a flight model (FM) *ONLY* From the Readme: These are flight models for the existing MiG-21MF, and are tailored to work in conjunction with the initial release of Wings over Europe, and with Strike Fighters and Wings over Vietnam patched to SP4 (patch dated 5-16-06). I suggest you install Mago's latest MiG-21 cockpit package FIRST, and then install this FM file (MiG-21MF_Data.INI), over any previous FMs. I also suggest that you install and use the Mirage Factory's MiG-21F13, as it will contain some of the necessary sound files (MiGEngine being one of them). Besides, it's a great model!! The MiGEngine sound file is also in the Sounds Megapack, located here at CombatAce. Installation: There are two FMs contained within the zip archive, each in their own folder. One is Wings over Vietnam (WoV) specific, and the other can be used in both Strike Fighters and Wings over Europe. Extract the folders to your desktop, and then drag the MiG-21MF_Data.ini files to their corresponding folders in each game. For example, in WoV, one would place the file in the Wings over Vietnam/Objects/Aircraft/MiG-21MF subfolder. Make sure that the file resides in the MiG-21MF folder, and is NOT nested within a subfolder. That?s it! Known Issue: MiG-21MFs used blown flaps in real life. As of this writing (May 26 2006), there seems to be an issue with animations not working in SF/WoV/WoE if the value "Manual_With_Blowback" is applied to the flap variables in the flight model. Credits: Mega Thanks to the members of AIRTEVRON 5 (past and present), particularly to Kreelin and Streakeagle, who were kind enough to share their knowledge of aerodynamics with all of us
  14. Why not simply place it in your Windows/System 32 folder, create a desktop shortcut to it, and use it that way?
  15. AFAIK, the A-7D was the first aircraft that had both a HUD, and CCIP bombing mode for it. It went into service in late 1970, and saw its first action in Vietnam in 1972.
  16. The problem with the MIg-23 series is a typo in it's data.ini file. Under the Flight Control section, edit the following line "MaxSpeedSL=261.10" so it reads "MaxSpeedSL=361.10". This translates to a SL speed of 685 knots, which should be close to its RL speed. As for the MiG-29A, all I can say is that you'll have to wait. Bigger and better things are coming.
  17. 530 knots indicated airspeed? At what altitude? 530 knots indicated airspeed at 20,000 feet is mach 1.25. In RL, most aircraft reach their max air speed (mach level) at between 30,000 and 50,000 feet.
  18. "ArmorValue" is a variable that translates into the thickness of the armor material in question, in millimeters. "ArmorTypes" (materials) in game are: aluminum, steel, titanium, wood, glass, and fiberglass. The "DamagePoint" should be the part or point of the object that's susceptible to damage. "SecondaryChance" should be self explanatory (it's defined as a percentage). As for repair rate, that should be fairly easy, too, but I'll let one of the campaign gurus explain it as I've never monkeyed with that particular variable.
  19. Jets do not "vibrate". The shaking you're describing is trans-sonic buffet. It goes away above Mach 1.
  20. There are buildings, and trees. Their are trees available as third party add-on by Deuces. Regarding buildings; North Vietnam circa 1964-1973 wasn't exactly an urbanized environment by any stretch of the imagination! LOMAC has no MiG-21 addon, and does not allow for third-party models. To the best of my knowledge, the North Vietnamese had mainly (and possibly, only) SA-2-series SAMs, though they were rumored to have deployed SA-3s by the end of 1971. That rumor has not been substantiated. SAM-wise, add on (third party) SA-3/SA-8/SA-9/SA-19 launchers are available, if that's what you're looking for. Also, WoE introduces the SA-6 into the mix, and it's my understanding that the SA-10 is under development. For the NATO side of things, there are Chaparrals, Nike Ajax and Hercules, Terrier, Sea Sparrows, SM-1 & SM-2s, the Roland, Hawks, ad-infinitum. AAA is also quite well covered, with add on 37mm, 85mm, 100mm, 130mm, and M-42 Sky Sweepers (Dusters) available for Vietnam-era ops.
  21. The patch also fixes the AI, making it much more aggressive and effective. It also introduces a considerably simpler ground object format. The mission editor is located here under "SF/WoV utilities".
