  1. I'm looking forward to combining this with Krizis's Yak-38. Thanks, Stary.
  2. Beach, check your personal messages.
  3. The tripod masts that where fitted to US battleships during the interwar-period where a step up from the cage masts that preceded them. An interesting fact: The cage masts on US warships where designed to withstand a direct hit from the armor piercing shells of enemy battleships. The Navy department actually mounted a cage mast on a target barge and shelled it, to little effect! This occurred just before WW I.
  4. Let me see if I've got this right....you're proposing a jet-powered version of an aircraft that suffered from aerodynamic compressability at relatively low Mach levels?
  5. Як-38 ...был такой самолет

I would very much like to release it, but then there is the matter of getting permission from Krizis to do so. It is his model, and that's why I'm inquiring about him. The detail on this model, is of course, superb.
  6. I must disagree. The Hood was very much state of the art when it was laid down. The raked bow, twin stacks, and armored citadel could have adorned any battle wagon designed or built 20+ years later. What dates the Hood's appearance, are the tripod masts and the wine-glass stern. The tripod masts were, again, pretty much standard fare well into the early 1930s. The stern was meant for sea-keeping in a following sea, and also to help reduce turbulence from her outboard propellers (which the naval architects of the time had known would have reduced the efficiency of her inboard propellers).
  7. Як-38 ...был такой самолет

    Yes, I still have it.
  8. Wrench and I were checking out a fabulously detailed model of the Hood, just the other day..
  9. Need books to read! Know of any good titles?

Here's a sample of Berent's work, a non-fiction short story about a Laotian Kharst Ridge that he christened "Rho Magna", in PDF format. It also includes an excerpt from one of his novels (Phantom Leader), into which he weaves his real-life experiences: rho-magna-the-laotian-war-dragon.pdf
  10. Need books to read! Know of any good titles?

I also recommend any of Mark Berent's "Rolling Thunder" series, which covers the Vietnam war from 1965 through 1972 http://www.markberent.com/
  11. They walk among us

    This is hilarious http://www.viralnova.com/32-dumb-things/
  12. Як-38 ...был такой самолет

Has anyone heard from Krizis since he last posted here?
  13. Sight-seeing off the southern coast of Iceland:
  14. I'm sure that many of you have seen or will recognize a few of these images, the others are quite rare, and provide a rare glimpse into the past. http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/2010/03/18/captured-blog-the-pacific-and-adjacent-theaters/#more-1547

Red Phoenix, by the same author who worked on RSS with Clancy, Larry Bond: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Phoenix-Larry-Bond-ebook/dp/B008LYZQ74/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1383800534&sr=8-2&keywords=Red+Phoenix+larry+bond
  16. The closest thing to a "barf cam view" in this series is a rear chase view, accessible from the F5 key.
  17. They have to be setup specifically for each carrier. There are coordinates to be determined, effects parameters that need tailoring, etc.
  18. Actually, it is exactly that easy. Though you do have to watch what you copy back, as TK & Company often add features that may cause an incompatibility with certain mods (as you may have recently discovered with the Razbam A-6 series). I usually create duplicates of the ini files, and save them as text files to prevent them from being over-written. After I apply a patch or install a DLC, I simply copy them back as .ini files, and I'm good to go. A word of warning, though. Several of us have encountered situations were the series seems to "fix itself" back to a default state, without any prompting, so always have your files backed up.
  19. "Migbuster, SidDogg, and Fubar have something up their collective sleeves" would be a much more accurate statement
  20. The physical model itself has to have those attributes.
  21. No, not using the game engine the way it was intended to, by the developer. But, sometimes, one can create a "cheat", using parameters that were designed into the series for other purposes.
  22. Like my new toy?

    Awesome!
  23. USS Zumwalt

This thing looks as if it should be rechristened as an "Ironclad-ram" instead of a DDG. http://gcaptain.com/ddg-1000-bath-iron-works-zumwalt/ USS Dunderberg, circa 1865:
  24. Perhaps I should have explained it better, installation of a new title, a DLC, or an update (patch) will overwrite the ini files in your saved games folder.
