  1. There's practically no difference in the manner in which folders for default TW aircraft are handled (or how they appear) in the last patch, over how they were handled in the original release. The only change is that the default textures now reside within their respective catalog files. Mods are applied exactly the way one did with the original release (or with subsequent patches).
  2. 9-11 What did you do in the moments of the attack?

In late August of 2001, the agency that I was contracting with, notified me of two projects that were starting in early September. One was with the Port Authority of NY & NJ (working in the WTC), and the other was with a firm in Parsippany, NJ. While the project with the PA was the more convenient of the two (it involved no driving, just a 20 minute train ride from my home), I declined it because it was a just 90-day project, and because I'd be paying taxes to NJ, NY, and NYC at the same time. That decision may have saved my life... I started working in Parsippany on the morning September 10, 2001. My job was to spool printed receipts and invoices from the various hotels and car rental franchises owned by the parent company, to an IBM high-speed printer (which was the size of a small car). One of the franchises was located in the WTC complex, and I was told to expect the print jobs from that location no later than 0900 every morning. My "office" was located in the basement of an office building...and I seldom saw anyone during the course of my day, other than the clerks who came to pick up the boxes of receipts that I printed for their departments. The second day I was there, I noticed that the print job from the WTC had not arrived on time. I tried calling the WTC office, and heard an unexpected message" "All Circuits are currently busy, please try your call again"....what the hell? Just before 0930, I tried calling the office that was expecting those reciepts....no answer. I tried calling my supervisor's office....no answer. I decided to go to the coffee room and make myself a cup of coffee, and try my supervisor again. The coffee room was empty....unusual, as 0930-1000 AM was the normal break time. depending on one's shift (my shift started at 0630). As I was returning to my office, I ran into a co-worker, whom I asked "Where is everyone?" He looked at me as if I'd grown a third-eye on my forehead, and told me that everybody in the building was in the cafetorium, watching CNN on the large projection screen TV...."a plane has hit the World Trade Center!" I walked into the Cafetorium just in time to see the strike on the South Tower.... Needless to say, not much work got done that day...and the roads were eerily empty at 1430 when I left for the evening. As I crested a hill on Rt 24 near Florham Park, NJ...I saw the pillar of smoke from the WTC for the first time. It was clearly visible from 25 miles/40 KM away.
  3. Most third-party models pay more than a modicum of lip-service to realism (wherever possible). That may not be part of (real) the F-18s display, or it may not be represented in exactly that manner. What does the readme for the model say?
  4. Hurricane Irene

No, the water stopped a foot short of my deck, held for eight hours, and then (slowly) began receding. Deja Vu? http://www.nj.com/weather-guy/index.ssf/2011/08/an_earthquake_an_a_hurricane_d.html
  5. The display in the SF2 manual is for the Thirdwire F-15A, and does not necessarily apply to 3rd-party models.
  6. Jonathan, I find your video reviews to be exceptionally well done. You should be getting paid for this
  7. Fast Cargo would be the man to ask about that one...
  8. NWS/AR is a set of indexer lamps that are used during in-flight refueling. The panel should have three lamps, marked RDY, AR/NWS, and DISC. Only thing that comes to mind regarding "BNDT". is that it may be an abreviation for "Bandit"...is the lamp located near the radar display?
  9. Hurricane Irene

Nice aftermath for surfers, though: http://videos.nj.com/star-ledger/2011/08/video_pro_surfers_take_to_wave.html
  10. Hurricane Irene

Holy s**t! This is down in Cape May, NJ, during the height of the storm: "Saturday: Ed Johnston, owner of The Cove Restaurant near Sunset Pavilion, in Cape May, watches as the water pounds against the dunes and jetty next to his business, as the storm becomes more intense. (Saed Hindash/The Star-Ledger)"
  11. Hurricane Irene

The day after Irene: A number of people in my complex awoke to discover that they've received promotions from car owners to U-boat commanders this morning. The forward torpedo, err, laundry room had a bit of water in it. Notice the high tide mark on the outside wall...scary A pair of U-boats that failed the water-tight integrity test. Well, technically the Toyota is an I-boat....both cars were flooded to the tops of their doors.
  12. If some those lights are associated with individual nodes, they can be activated in SF2.
  13. Hurricane Irene

Lots of flooding in my neck of the woods, seven miles inland, 90 feet ASL. Luckily, the property manager at my complex suggested that we move our vehicles to high ground..those that didn't heed his warning.....well....
  14. Haven't played with either Le Missioneur or Kreelin's Mission Designer in quite some time. This would be of more assistance than myself: http://combatace.com/files/file/5092-le-missionneur-mission-editor-tutorial/
  15. Use these values...they are closer to reality. Sustainer burnout occurs 30 km downrange, at Mach 4-5 (depending on manuevers). 16. SA-10s have no booster.....the .2 sec "booster" entry is there to emulate the launcher's "cold launch" ejection sequence of the missile, which cannot otherwise be modeled in SF1 or SF2. The launch acceleration in RL is about 10Gs, but that's the initial acceleration load, and not a constant value. The missile (again, in RL) is ejected to an altitude of 15-30 meters before ignition. It also has a thrust vectoring nozzle, which is something that cannot be directly modeled in SF

Here's a link to some footage from this morning: http://www.weather.com/weather/videos/news-41/top-stories-169/raw-irene-in-nags-head-nc-21701#loc=41/169/21704

Here's Youtube footage from Friday evening, a good 8-10 hours before Hurricane Irene made landfall near Cape Lookout, North Carolina.

Michael, There are homes right on the New Jersey coast (in a town called Seabright), that are over 160 years old. They have seen quite a few weather events in their lifetimes, where winds (or wind gusts) have exceeded 130 KPH, have been flooded at least once every few years, and they are still standing. This is literally all that separates the town from the fury of the Atlantic Ocean: The bulk of the town sits on a narrow strip of land, that's less than 100 meters wide, that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Navesink River. I understand that it's almost impossible for homeowners there to obtain flood insurance
  20. Yes, it's a metric heading. One must use a metric compass in that situation....one that's been adjusted and precision-tuned by a series of well placed blows delivered by a metric hammer...
  21. Hurricane Irene

Well, so far, my area of central NJ has already received over 14 inches of rainfall for just the month of August (the average is just over 4 inches). The ground is pretty saturated, and we're expecting an additional 4 to 8 inches from Irene. As it is, the parking lot in my complex had almost a foot of water from a series of heavy downpours just this past Sunday.... Most of the projected tracks for Irene have the eye coming either through my town, or a few miles to either side of it (I live 7 miles inland from the coast). So you can say that most people around here are somewhat concerned. Oh, and Mako69, Gloria was in September of 1985...I vividly recall having to secure my (then) brand new boat, in advance of that storm. When I checked it a day after the hurricane passed, one mooring line had almost chafed through, but everything was otherwise ok.
  22. Again, did you download anything for SF2 from another site? PM me if you don't understand the question.
  23. Did you download and install mods from *other* websites?
  24. WHAT the %#$#@!

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/08/two_nuclear_reactors_near_eart.html LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK — Seismic activity resulting from this afternoon's 5.9 magnitude earthquake triggered an "unusual event" at Hope Creek and Salem Nuclear plants, a normal response to such an event, said Lt. Stephen Jones of the New Jersey State Police. There have been no reports of any damage at either facility. The Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Lacey Township, which is run by Exelon, is currently operating at full power, said spokeswoman Suzanne D’Ambrosio. Plant operators are following “seismic procedures,” which include walking throughout the facility to confirm the earthquake did not damage equipment or affect operations. “We will continue to closely monitor plant equipment should there be any additional seismic activity,” D’Ambrosio said. Exelon declared "unusual events" at its Oyster Creek, Limerick, Peach Bottom and Three Mile Island Unit 1 plants, a classification that is the lowest of the four emergency classifications used in the U.S. nuclear power industry, she added. Federal officials say two nuclear reactors at the North Anna Power Station in Louisa County, Va., were automatically taken offline by safety systems around the time of the earthquake. The Dominion-operated power plant is being run off of four emergency diesel generators, which are supplying power for critical safety equipment. Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Roger Hannah says the agency was not immediately aware of any damage at nuclear power plants in the southeast. NRC officials are still assessing the situation. Louisa County is about 40 miles northwest of Richmond.
  25. WHAT the %#$#@!

Same here in Eastern Monmouth County, lasted over 20 seconds. I understand that forest fires and mudslides are next....
