Ok you want a AMD and not the Intel i7/15 setup and no CrossfireX or SLI!!!!! What are you want to play here, if it is only OFF then go for a cheap dualcore system, some $300/500,- complete and get a additional ATI57XX serie Vcard or why not updating you old system. Playing games like RoF then get a: quadcore AMD phenomII X4 965-125Watt CPU and not the 955 mobo socketAM3 & DDR3, do not get the one that have a on-board Vcard like 785G because this will be useless here. Vcard: ATI58XX serie Vcard. Why ATI card and not Nvidia: because they can use the DirectX11, Nvidia only the old directX10, yep we are going for the future. Or go to a site like Tomshardware.com and check what you want by selecting the best components and rankings. Keep in you mind that in my country the i5 socket1156 is about the same price as the AMD-am3 setup.

The problem with soccer is that are countries who mostly have success in the national world championship, but there game is boring. If they were trying to play like Brazil, Africa (not the arabic) or the Dutch national team, this game will be more popular in rest of the world. Right now most of the teams are trying to copy this boring way of playing, which will bring them success but it will be the dead of soccer.

OT: Hardware question: Asus P5K with 2x 2Gb Ram ?
Dutch_P47M replied to Wels's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The creative soundcard drivers are causing a lot of problems, that why in RoF many player disable the soundblaster and use the onboard audiocard back again. You could use alternatives drivers like KX or something like that. -
SD, you are running a Vcard that has two Video outputs, like the HD4870, right then you can run two monitors, take a look at youtube for more info??? Fill in "dual monitor" on youtube!!!!!!

OT: Hardware question: Asus P5K with 2x 2Gb Ram ?
Dutch_P47M replied to Wels's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wels I know you are running RoF, so do a search on Simhq and Riseofflight forum before changing to Win7-64. Also track me on these forums because I had more a less the same 64bit question. So I did some research and I did find out that a 64bit OS will bring you no more performance if your games and applications are still 32bit and 99% of the consumer software is only 32bit, remark: some sites even notice a slow down in performance. Read this 64bit Keep in your mind only a 64bit OS can take the full advance of the more then 3Gb RAM, but OFF3 and RoF does not need more. I am not an Intel guy but I think that you should read your mobo manual and check what is the max Gb RAM your mobo can handle (total and max in one row) then take a look in the max RAM mhz that can be handled with your CPU, if it is 1333 then take a 1333Mhz and not a 800mhz. Go for a low RAM timing like CL4 . I had a Intel P4 that had 3rows but could only handle a total of 2Gb, max 1Gb/row and max ???mhz (do not know the figures). I exchanged the RAM by something that was more then ???mhz and my system stopped at the start-up. I know in AMD systems, PC is faster using 2x2Gb then 4x1Gb RAM this can also counting be for an Intel. I know that older 32bit application can be run on Win7-32 if you are running in administrator mode, then these software can be run in XP or Vista compability mode, I do not know for win7-64/32-software. -
Good idea because things have changed. BTW, I made a invitation to a person who knows more about this game, I hope he will explain more about the new FS-WW1 and will give an answer to all our remarks and questions.
-
Maybe the new version is including a decent full campaign mode, but what I could remember, FS-WW1 campaign was nothing more than a few separate single missions. But the new release is free to judge at FS-WW1 and ArgonV is always very helpfull if you are facing problems. Like Wells said we need to support these WW1 flysim makers.

As I said earlier you are lucky, but I would, if you want to buy a new Vcard, never take the risk inhere. If you are doing a search on the RoF forum you will see a lot of dualGPU, SLI or CrossfireX setup problems and even a advice from Neoqb to disable one core on a MSI GTX295 card. Then from my own experience RoF is more CPU demanding then GPU. So I would first spent the $$ on the best quad-CPU and the left-overs to the GPU. And now I'm stopping RoF-ing in this OFF-forum!!! how is the topic starter running with his new game [=OFF], could you tell us more???

Top 5 aircraft for next OFF installment
Dutch_P47M replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Strange that players from a WW1 and a WW2 flysim always (lets say 90%) want to have the plane from the end of that war scene. Mainly I think because thats got the best performance. Why is this, I can imagine that if you are playing a modern jet sim, you want to go for the best performances, faster, higher, armament, all to get you the superior feelings. But not for me in a WW1 fly sim, this means struggling, gun jamming, tactics, f****ing weather, flying skills etc. This is what I like in RB3d-WFP and the main reason why I still play this game, so for me its the planes from the earliest period (and a good campaign like RB3 or OFF3 btw). -
Was summer 2009, so now it is summer 2010, mmm, maybe I should Flybert sent a Email about the CK.

Fokker D VI - Better than the Dr. 1 ?
Dutch_P47M replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
From my old RB3d time, a good site for the airplanes FM NASA -
BTW your Vcard is not the right card for RoF, it is now like running OFF3 on a VooDoo3 card.

Fokker D VI - Better than the Dr. 1 ?
Dutch_P47M replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
And the much better campaign mode like in OFF3, so it feels if you are one of the guys. Thats why I did not like WoW and FirstEagles. -
Most efficient way of gaining altitude?
Dutch_P47M replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Never know this, but as a wingman I can tell you, you are right inhere!!!! Uncleal yes that is indeed one of the reason I prefer FF, you will have a better feeling and not only in climbing -
Sapphire HD4890 VaporX here, its running great on OFF3. But keep in your mind if you want to play a DirectX11 game in the future then you will need a HD5XXX or a future GTX3XX card (and Vista/Win7 OS).

Ati settings (yeah,,again)
Dutch_P47M replied to sitting_duck's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I maybe wrong but Lasso sets the processes on priority ranking, right?????? But you can set the CPU priority using your task manager right mouse click on the process to set the priority. So you do not need an extra software that slows-down your PC, you could even set the process to a specific CPUcore. I use this trick to run RoF on my dualcore rig. Please correct me, if I'm wrong inhere to this Lasso software, I'm not a English speaker!!!!! Marc homeboy has a nice tool; alacritypc, to shutdown all the not needed processes/services. Alternative shutdown programs are AMDfusion, Enditall or ISObit software. BTW I never used ISObit program and AMDfusion can only be used on a complete and modern AMD-system CPU/SB/NS=AMD & Vcard=ATI, to take the full advance for this software. -
Then you are lucky. but do a search on Neoqb, rise of flight forum, for the MSI GTX295 card you should even disable one GPU. One guy exchanged his GTX295 for a HD5870 card because of the problems he had [keep in mind RoF is still DirectX9, so no benefit from a DirectX11 OS & Vcard]. I would never take the risk, so my advice for RoF is still the single core GPU.

The Sim I used to play before OFF
Dutch_P47M replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
ArgonV WW1-FS it is still free. Try to fly the Sikorsky bomber. I always was focused on the WW2 period. As a young boy I build a lot off WW2 airplanes kits, like Airfix/Revell etc. WW1 and jetplanes was not my cup of tea. My first was RB mission generator, because it was cheap and a WW2 flysim not. There was a .pdf on that disk, printed it out for a better reading and from that time of, I'm always played WW1 flysims and my focus changed to WW1 period. Besides RoF/OFF3, I'm still playing RB3d on my old Voodoo3 rig. -
Fokker D VI - Better than the Dr. 1 ?
Dutch_P47M replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I still asking myself why did the Germans not recycle these planes. An outdated Fokker Dr1 could be changed to a DVI or DVIII. They were short of supply caused by the British sea blockade, so there must be a reason why not doing this. -
Fokker D VI - Better than the Dr. 1 ?
Dutch_P47M replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Maybe the Germans were wise and did not put all the cards on the D7. So if the D7 had encounterd some problems, Fokker could start directly to the DVI production, like the did with the Roland DVI Fighter as a backup for the D7. I think Unknownpilot has right 1918 tactics for Germans, implicated performance at hight altitude and hang on your prop to get there asap. I can not find it so quickly but I do have a book were they explained that the Fokker DVI was used for home defence, but it was not a succes because of slow climing rate. So it appears that Fokker DVI plane performance is bad when it becomes to altitude. The Dr1 is maybe in flysms a good plane, but aces like Carl Degelow had there complains and did prefer the Albatros or PfalzD3. Carl Degelow: I believe that the Fokker DVII was the best German fighter aeroplane developed during WW1. I could sing endless praises of the Fokker D.VII but, instead, I will simply point out how impressed the victorius Allied powers were by this aeroplane. The Fokker was the only aeroplane that mentioned by type to be forbidden to Germany. etc -
Ati settings (yeah,,again)
Dutch_P47M replied to sitting_duck's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ooo that F%^&ing CFS3config file never in my game life I have ever seen such a garbage to adjust the graphics. Be sure that you did not checked weather in the CFS3config file. -
Ati settings (yeah,,again)
Dutch_P47M replied to sitting_duck's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
SD, this is maybe O.T. but you could try a CCC alternative: ATI tray tool Keep in you mind that there is a for CCC9.12 a hotfix and a CCC beta 10.1 on 3dGuru -
I had OFF3 running on a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ CPU, AM2socket mobo, 2Gb-RAM and some Nvidia 7300-512 Vcard. So this will be not a problem for you. Check first the FAQ at the official OFF-site for all the adjustments, because that CFSconfig file is like garbage .

Here we go again!!!!!!!!! With all respect to you, but do a search on simhq, riseofflightforum and here. There is also some discussion on the aerodromeforum, try Google, only to get the right info for RoF/OFF3. But let me make one thing clear: do you own a Intel i7/i5 CPU and do you have a graphic-card with mem>512 starting from a GTX260, ATI4870 or better. No then forget RoF and get OFF3. To me it appears that only on a i7-CPU and GTX285 or HD58XX serie this game can be played at max settings. No SLI or CrossfireX mode or dual GPU card like the GTX295 or HD4870X2 are supported or are causing troubles in the game. BTW For a free WW1 experience, why not getting the free WW1-FS from ArgonV or if you own IL2-1946 you can always wait for the free release from CanvasKnights, see the AAforum for more details. Good luck!!! and I do run RoF and OFF3!!!!!!

Also in the Norman Franks book "Aircraft vs Aircraft" here it is the well know black Fokker, but no name, so maybe you could ask this at aerodrome
