I am not talking of the military blunder, but about Napoleaon's decision to return to France. Even if he had won : the other Coallition army would have pressed on, southern france was not under Napoleaon's control ... And unlike what is often said, Napoleon's army was only the shadow of what it was in 1814 (let alone 1805 !).

Napoleaon would have been stopped, anyway 100 days was one of the most stupid blunder in french history

11 Ways WWI Could have Turned Out Differently...

Point 8 needs a lot of study : The german were well aware of the french army mutiny : actually, the french hq realized the extent of mutinies by intercepting GERMAN communications !!! Indeed, the extension of the mutinies was due to the french HQ and officers inability to deal properly with them at the start. There was also at the same time the begining of troubles in the German army, but the German authorities reacted promptly and efficiently at this time and troubles did not extend. The point is that few frontline units left their post. For instance, lot of mutinies occured when a frontline unit was ordered to go back for rest and this order was cancelled in the middle of their way for no apparent reason. This happened fairly often in the french army (due to poor planning), but as far as I know, the other armies took into account the fact that this cancellation was disastrous for the moral and had to be avoided at all cost unless the cancellation was obvious for the soldiers (ennemy offensive ...) As to the ability of the french army to defend : most frecnh soldiers clearly stated that they were ok to defend, but they did not want to be butchered in a bloody badly planned offensive : obviously, what would have happened in reality is totally unknown. Also, at about the same time, the British were also about to lose the war, but for economical reasons : Britain was about to go bankrupt. This is the main reason why the US entered the war, their economy could not have afforded a bankrupt from GB -
