Great insight into a Young Pilot's life
jeanba replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
From what I read, PoW were helped by the red cross who delivered them food from their native countries. Due to the high number of prisonners on both sides, they were usually fairly well treated for fear that if one side mistreated prisonners, the ennemy would retaliate. -
Are Gunners too deadly?
jeanba replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I noticed the same thing but saw 2 problems : 1- gunners are too deadly, but a player can somewhat handle this 2- AI is suicidal against gunners -

Fishbed tactics against fighters?
jeanba replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
For early Atoll, 6 O'clock, 1,5 to 2 km seems to give the best results (around 50% chances of scoring), if the target start maneuvering, give up and look for another target. Obviously, it is not always possible to find yourself in such a situation, so the kill rate is actually 10-20 % -
Fishbed tactics against fighters?

You must limit the use of A/B because of IR missiles and because of your short legs. I found the PFV safer than the F13 because at least your are not tempted into dogfights, which are not a good idea if you are outnumbered. The Mig21 turn radius is a good escape against the F8, F4 .. Against earlier aircraft, think of your max speed. -
Fishbed tactics against fighters?
jeanba replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I am flying a VPAF campaign in Mig-21 PFV (no gun). I usually fly low to avoid being locked by F4 or others. As soon as I am below a potential target, I vertically climb (full AB, then Mil), and try to be in the 6 Oclock of my target. At same altitude or just lower, I try to find an optimal solution during say 30 seconds, and fire my missiles if I am in range, then I go down, back to base, Mil power. I score a kill once every.5-6 missions. -

In France, carelessness in the manipulation of weapons kill more people than their intentionnal use.
-
Actually, it is a more for safety purpose as in France at least, the number of people wounded when they transport an unprotected knife of cutting object is much higher than the number of people wounded in a fight. I have practiced fencing for more than 20 years and all the wounds heavier than a little blood on the nose or finger I saw were due to improper or stupid manipulation of the weapons, never during a "fight". Still, the police have a legal motivation (especially because actually the law saying something like "proper safe packaging" is a little vague) to confiscate them in case of risk of streetfight or similar situation and as such it is very usefull. There is basically 1/3 chance that this law would have avoided such drama.
