  1. Gepard, I'm sure you can buy a WV,  Audi or BMW with the same money you bought a Dacia ... At least James May from Top Gear has a far better opinion. :) (And I'm stopping here).

     

    The same goes with the Mig-21 upgrades. If you were watching the thread, the "upgrades" were small overhauls and nothing like the Bison or LanceR standards. And the LanceR with HOTAS, HUD, 2 color MFD, MIL-STD-1533 and DASH III helmet  was a pretty extensive and expensive upgrade made by Elbit Israel with Aerostar, but the aiframe and engines life can't be more prolonged. Who manufactures today R-25 engines/parts ? ...That's why Romania gets second hand F-16s and for 12 planes, upgrades and training it will pay 628 million euros or 52.33 milion euro/plane. Yeah, a small price isn't it ?


  2. Ah, I understand. The digital equipment gave some new life in the old airframe making it more responsive and capable and giving it the abilities to cary western/eastern weapons on a new universal pylon but this can't compensate for the frame's age and engine. The 21's time has passed even with all the new improvements made to it. I made earlier a mistake, wanted to write R-73, and not R-77 as the employed missiles.  And as an intresting fact is that the LanceR was one of the first planes to employ the Israeli made DASH III HMD helmet in the 90's. The upgrade was pretty expensive though.


  3. The Romanian Mig-21 LanceR has an Elta El/M-2032 Radar, datalink, HUD with HOTAS and employs AIM-9, R-77, Python III, LGBs, Lightning LP and is basically a joint upgrade made in Romania with Israel tech. Is this the version Croatia got in 2003 ?

    I've seen them in airshows making a lot more tight maneuvers than an "old" Mig-21 does.

    Hello everybody !!!

     

    This is for the folks who love Macross and miss a swarm of guided missiles swirling through the air.

    Unfortunately the game interprets a missile pod as an air to ground weapon, so the AI doesn't use it in air to air engagements.

    You can still use it and it's devastating in close dogfights but only in pilot controled aircraft.

    There are 3 versions of the launcer and missiles. An IR and AR for air engagments and an IIR guided for air to ground.

    The UUM7 pod holds 15 HMM01 missiles

    IRM range - 8km

    ARM range - 10km

    IIR range - 10km

     

    How it works : Select the UUM7 pod with your air to ground weapons key. Then switch to caged or air to air mode with your Hud mode setings key.

    For the radar version you have to have the radar switched on and have a valid lock.

    For the IR version, you can launch the missiles even if you don't have a lockon tone.BE AWARE that it is a fratricide missile due to the high off-borsight, it will lock on the nearest planes. Very effective on large formations of planes.

     

    All three versions are fire and forget missiles.

     

    The missiles are available from the year 1999 upwards.

    Launchers can be loaded on USAF/USN type pilons that have rocket pod capability.

    What you will need :

     

    Copy of SF2/WOE2/WOV2/WOI2 patched to the latest standard

    Install Instructions:

     

    1. Read this entire readme :)

     

    2. Drop the contents of the archive into your main MODS folder. Allow overwrites.

     

    3. Start the game and blow up some stuff

  5. UUM-7 missile pod (Macross)


    Hello everyone.

     

    This is the UUM-7 micro missile pod from the Macross series used by the Vf-1.

    I made 3 versions : Air to Air (IR and AR guided); Air to Ground (TV guided).

    This is my first build for a game, and I release it as a beta. I'm open for sugestions how to improve this.

    The air to air versions can be used only by pilot controled aircraft as the AI interprets the pod as an AG weapon and doesn't use it in AA engagements.

    Install and use instructions are in the readme file.

  6. Hi all. Just wanted to show some wip. This is my first atempt to model something for game use. So, I present the UUM7 mini missile launcher from he Macross series and the HMM01 mini missile. Each launcher carries 15 missiles and I configured them to be ir homing and can be lauched uncaged. I have tested it ingame and I scored kills against enemys and against my own planes if they are in the way. If any of you is intrested in this I will release it.
