it's not a bad idea if you think about it. The 'Winders would be out of the way, but I can see the tanks causing some stability problems. -

How do you deal with them? 500 pounder down the throat? -
True. They ring too much. The person below me keeps a picture of the F-35 under their pillow.

I still have a LEGO P-40 and a strange twin-boom, twin-engine attack plane that started out as a water bomber a couple of years ago. And so what if you just take off the wheels and pretend that the gear is up? That's the way I've always done it... Also, since when is the F-15 "Infamous"?

waitaminute... it's probably been tried, but wouldn't this mean that you'd be able to map thrust vectoring to the pitch axis of the joystick while it still controlls pitch? or did I just read this wrong? All you'd have to do is make pitch controll and thrust vector controll both the joystick Y axis? I'd try it, but i really haven't the time. -
A10 -A Air to air combat

I've been responsible for many MiG crashes while in bombers... With the A-10 (or any other slow aircraft) I like to fly as low as possible and when they dive down on you, do a quick S-turn... they'll either auger in or overshoot and try again untill they run outa gas. -
Individual Serial Numbers
Rambler 1-1 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out how to give each individual plane in a squadron it's own serial number on the tail, like the stock planes have. I've positioned the decals, and they fit fine, but I can't get them to change at all, no matter what number plane I pick in the loadout screen. There's nothing on this in this the KB, and the numbers would be the finishing touch on a skin I am modifying. Any input is appreciated! -
Individual Serial Numbers
Rambler 1-1 replied to Rambler 1-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
okay, I already had the decal level at 2, and I'm using the number decals and the numbers.lst file from the F-4E, and the numbers still don't change. I'll try russo's method, see if I can get it to work that way. EDIT: YES! IT WORKS! turns out that it wasn't the decal level that was at 2, it was the "DecalMaxLOD", whatever the heck that does. Anyway, it works now, and even better, it looks good! Thanks for the help, maybe I'll put this in the KB when I have some time. -
reminds me of a Seinfeld episode...

I finally came out victorious in my ongoing battle against the godamnammobunker! After countless missions involving everything from direct hits with 250 pounders to really near misses with 3000 and 4000 pounders, I found the best formula by accident. 6 Mk 82 500 pounders pickled off all at once at nearly 500 knots at a 45 degree dive angle. yeah, shove that in your ammo dump and smoke it! -
Area 88 skins
Rambler 1-1 replied to CrimsonRoamer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I remember re-enacting many scenes from Area-88 with the old F-8 and skin, the F-14A and skin, and a bunch of other aircraft in a huge squadron all with skins. Great fun. It seems that Shin's F-8 was also partially based on the A-7, judging by the loadout and stores. Very nice work with all that, Crimson. Truly worthy of setting everything to "easy" and blasting MiGs like flies. That reminds me, I have an Area-88 campaign for SFP1 based heavily on the stock burning sands. It's pretty much just Burning Sands with a mercenary squadron of F-8s added in, but my friend has been happily blasting MiGs for some time now with it. -
ah yes, my socially challanged flight lead has been "singing" praise for this show for the last week. The title is kinda dumb sounding, but apparently it's a good show.Makes me wish I had cable! :angry2: EDIT: Or internet fast enough to play youtube videos.

MiG-17 gunned down by a B-57... what a way to go. I'll bet he didn't bother ejecting for fear of public ridicule. It actually wasn't that hard. Just firewall it and wait untill he's pretty colse, then pull a fast S-turn on the horizontal. He overshoots after the second turn and then tries to climb away, and you should have enough speed to get behind him and put those 4 Mk. 39 cannon to work. -

Why Being at Wright Patterson AFB is cool.....
Rambler 1-1 replied to Dave's topic in Military and General Aviation
that's what they want you to think... they actually have secret invisible planes in there. They hang them from the ceiling so you don't walk in to them. -

perhaps it was from a freighter or an oil tanker, you show-off. I'm guessing that those bombs didn't drop themselves. -

OOH! OOH! OOH! RELEASE! RELEASE! PLEASE! The -N is my second favorite, (next to the S), and this model looks top-notch! -
I for one wouldn't mind "Bill the dead terrorist". The contrast between the name and the puppet is kinda funny.
-
yeah, the actual planes the 'birs fly were built between 1963 and 67, but the basic design dates back to the BAC Jet Provost of 1955.

D'OH I guess that no matter how good the team is, weather is weather, especially in 50 year old planes.
