May 2013 patch issue with graphics
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Sorry everybody, my bad. Well I changed ForceDirectX9 from False to True and the debrief screen came up after a mission. However the effects are now all screwed up and look terrible, it's not worth having the effects look so bad so now I'm back to the original issue. Didn't notice this last night because I just started a mission and ended it to see if this fixed the issue. It was today that I noticed the bad effects. Looks like I will just have to go back to the June 2012 patch. -
Display Settings?

Is there a way to prevent these display/graphics settings to stop appearing in all startups for missions and campaigns? Not sure how. -

Thanks guys, sorry for the huge pic. -
Even though the F-22A has limited air to ground capability, it is still the best air to air weapon in the world. The F-15C is also only a single role fighter and getting old very fast. The life support system issues are being fixed according to a friend stationed out at Langley. Even a single F-22 with a external Sniper targeting pod is much stealthier than a F-16 or FA-18, despite only carrying 2,000 lbs of bombs it could do the mission without the support of SEAD or EW aircraft. Carrying GPS weapons doesn't require a targeting pod anyways if the target has already been identified. These capabilities may not be enough to save the F-22's reputayion as a multirole fighter, but as an air superiority fighter it is unmatched. Too much is being expected from the F-35 and tests are showing this, carrying enough weapons as an F-16 or F/A-18 requires it to carry bombs externally which compromises its stealth, and other tests have shown it is inferior to the ancient F-15 and SU-27 in the air to air role. What the U.S. needs are more F-22s and upgraded F-16s and F/A-18s instead of the F-35.

F-15 Eagles temporarily returning to Otis
warthog64 replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Sweet! -
Thank God the pilot is safe. Too bad though another Eagle was lost, the USAF needs those too badly and can't afford a high attrition rate. Maybe more F-22's will be funded in the future but for now the 30 year old F-15C is still very important.

A Civil Aviation History Question
warthog64 replied to KJakker's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think 1914 is correct. The first commercial aircraft were airships, followed a couple years later by seaplanes. The all fixed wing commercial air travel both land and sea based began in the mid 1920's. I took a aerospace history class in college a couple years ago and this is what I'm basing this information on. I'm 99% sure this is correct. -
Just wanted to let people know about one of the best Fighter Pilot memoirs ever, "Viper Pilot" by Lt. Col. Dan Hampton (USAF ret.). I just started reading this book yesterday and am about half way throught it now, but I only had to read the first 10 pages to see what a great book it is. The Author was a Wild Weasel pilot in the F-16 for 20 years and his first hand accounts of flying in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Allied Force, and Operation Iraqi Freedom are some of the most interesting and intense I've ever read about. He adds colorful personal perceptions from different aspects of his military career that are also some of the best I've ever heard. I highly recommend this book to Everyone! You will not be disappointed. Here's a link to info on the book. http://www.harpercol...3=9780062130358

machine gun fire effects
warthog64 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have tried for several months now to get the machine gun fire effects such as the HmgFireEffect and the LmgFireEffect to work. The proper files are in the effects folder but I still can't get them to work. Any Ideas? -

That's where I thought I got them, but I guess I'm just confused. Anyway I tried deleting Flight and Effects folders and reinstalling all stock files with Stary's pack again and this time it worked. Not sure why it worked this time, but it did. Thanks for your help SupGen. -

I only added the files from MKSheppard's pack that weren't included in Stary's pack. I'll delete everything and try it again with only Stary's pack. Thanks again -
machine gun fire effects
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I reinstalled The Unified Effects Pack, and extracted a new BULLETOBJECT, but no Luck! The LMG and HMG fire effects came from the SF2 Combo Effect Pack http://combatace.com/topic/51187-sf2-combo-effect-pack-v100/. So should I delete these? Since the Unified Effects Pack doesn't contain these shouldn't I need them? -

I am using Stary's unified effects pack, I'll reinstall it though and see what happens. It's been a while and I'm also not sure where my current BULLETOBJECT originated, I'll also try deleting it and then reinstalling a new one. Thanks guys -
Tornado Sidewinder pylons
warthog64 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've been having an issue with the Tornado GR4 by Dave. I've had this issue forever but haven't flown this aircraft in a while and I forgot about it until now. The sidewinder pylons on each wing will not show up, and I have no idea how to fix this. (See screenshot) Any Ideas? Thanks -

I can't seem to get the lods to work correctly for the TU-16k-11. What is the proper process to make them work.
