SF2 Proper Setup
warthog64 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well after several attempts at setting up SF2V, and finally giving up I'm going to try it again. Anyway I'm wondering what the proper format for setting up a SF2V install is. Last time I tried a full install I modeled SF2V after WOE, and shortly after getting all the files in to their assigned folders, the game crashed, and wouldn't even startup! Is there a certain way to setup all the files in a certain folder, or is the proper way just to leave all the extracted files in their CATPAK folders. Thanks -

Well after reading all the instructions, I tried a reinstall of SF2V, and SF2E just to start everything with a new install. However now in the Users/Saved Games folder there are no files! What should I do? Thanks -

Thanks Guys! I guess I shold have looked there first. -
For some reason targets such as Headquarter Buildings, and comm buildings aren't showing up. I'm assuming it's a LOD file problem, but any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for your help. Yeah a quick reinstall of the terrains fixed it. -
Target Issue
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This mainly happens in the Libya, IsraelME, and Israel 2 terrains. As for the cat file what exactly is the story with fixing that, I'm just not familiar with alot of this "Technical" stuff. Thanks -

Airfields in water

Anyone know why this would happen? I reinstalled the VietnamSEA terrain the same way I did before, and well this is what happened. Thanks -

Airfields in water
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
http://wrench1smog.com/wrench3.html It's from this link. It says that the desert factories will work with Vietnam, I mean it says SEA fixes for desert factories so I'd assume? -
Airfields in water
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's the stock VietnamSEA terrain from WOV. I installed the seamod shore tiles, along with the desert factories download with the Fixes. I'm not sure what exactly is the correct order is for installing these mods, or if this has anything to do with it. Thanks -
Know Your Aircraft...
warthog64 replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've always enjoyed the classic F-100 Super Sabre. It's not as fast as the F-4 or as agile as a Mig-17. But for its time it had a good combination of speed, weapons, and maneuverability to be able to kick the a** out of anything, Air or ground. Especially with the introduction of the early Aim-9's it's air to air capability drastically improved. And despite the weapons, and powerplant problems it had ,in terms of air to ground it was probably one of the best aircraft of all time, most Soldiers,Marines, etc in vietnam knew that they could depend on the Super Sabre to help them out and save their lives whenever they needed it. -
Yeah didn't think about that. Good Point!

Precision of freefall weapons in game
warthog64 replied to Uhu's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
With retarded weapons you basically have to drop them very low, slightly nose down, and at a high (very high) speed approach to the target if you want a direct hit. This is what retarded weapons were designed for, to allow a low flying aircraft to escape a bomb blast from a bomb it just dropped. More of an area bombing tactic, than precision. As for cluster bombs accuracy usually just means how directly you hit the target. But with a cluster bomb accuracy really doesn't matter. As long as the target is within the blast area, it's gone! -
Targets all Friendly?
warthog64 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
For some reason when I started WOE today all the targets were friendly both U.S. and Soviet. Just blue everywhere! If this is a Nations problem is there a fix, because the Nations.ini seems to be fine in my istall. Any suggestions Thanks -
Targets all Friendly?
warthog64 replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well tried it again, all the sudden it works now. Strange? -
Wow I haven't heard this yet. Isn't the Japanese military purely defensive? What use would they have for a stealth fighter? I guess they do need an aircraft though to replace their aging fleet of F-15's, F-4's etc. But I didn't think the F-22 was available for export.

Weapons Release Problem
warthog64 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
On the F-80C whenever I select a weapon to employ and then release it, it realeases every single weapon of that same type I have on the airplane. My ripple quantity is set to 1, and no other aircraft has this problem. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Thanks
