I've been playing this game for 20 years. Yeah 20 years. I was just wondering if there is a way to change what fighter type is the standard type available when you request help. Yeah I've searched around the forum; I've come across answers that aren't really related. These forum discussions are from 2008, If I've missed the topic that answers my question I apologize. I've never really needed this info, but I've since really enjoyed flying bombers (so I get blasted apart by interceptors). Please just asking anyone if there is a way to edit this, I play this game rarely now when I have the time, so I don't really have a lot of time to figure this stuff out. Thank you to all the support I've gotten from this site since I was a teenager. Long live Combatace and all the wonderful founders of this site who have helped me for nearly 20 years.

Hi Everyone
I've been gone from the Thirdwire community for a while. I've recently tried to get ground objects from YAP's old files to work in the game, specifically the SAM systems from the Strait of Hormuz files. In the past I've gotten the files to work, but I can't seem to get them to work this time around. I've forgotten a lot in the past few years obviously. Asking if anyone knows what exact data.ini files need to be changed in order to accomplish this. I'm specifically referring to the SA-5 BTW.
Thanks again as always to the community here!

Thank you for all these weapons over the years Raven. I've been playing this game since I was 14. You've certainly kept this great game up to date!

I recently came back to the Thirdwire community last year. I've been searching for a J-20 and have come up short. Wasn't there a J-20 available in the past?

Just incredible. In less than 22 years, we went from this to walking on the moon.

Got to meet Col. Malachowski in 2009. One of the most professional and intelligent people I'd ever talked to.

Keep up the good work GKABS!

One of my favorites! Along with the 1911

Yep. Ever since the new drivers back in February I've had this problem. I reverted back to the previous driver to fix it.

Thanks for all the info Menrva.

Always been a fan of the Cobra! The longest serving attack helicopter platform. Thanks for the video link Skyviper!
Here is another link to one of the best Cobra documentaries ever for those who are interested.

Just thought I'd update this thread.
The ODS mod would be perfect if it included Menrva's terrain. Everything is great about the latest mod, especially since the latest aircraft and ship updates over the last few years. The newest terrain by Menrva is really all that is still needed. (more Iraqi naval action would be perfect too of course, but that's not too difficult to add by the novice player).
I am no expert but if there's anything I can help with Menrva in order to get your terrain applicable with the latest mod please PM me.
I still love SF2 over all the other sims (DCS has better graphics but that's about the only advantage) and have been playing it since I was 13. An updated ODS campaign would really make this game one of the best, even in 2019!
Thanks everyone!

That plane will out live all of us.

The simplest way to do it is to open the missile's data.ini file and look for "BoosterAccel" and "SustainerAccel" lines. They are near the bottom.
Adjust the speed to a number you think is adequate and test the missile in a single mission scenario.
Hope this helps

@KJakker The larger ships including the Royal navy carriers seem to be more resistant to bomb hits. The destroyers are also slightly more resistant usually taking a few hits with 500 pound bombs to sink. The frigates however seem to sink easily still with one bomb.
The air defenses are also more formidable, nice job!
In regards to Rising Sun I would be most interested in updated data for all carriers as well as heavy cruisers.
Thanks again

Thanks KJakker! I'll give this a try when I get a chance and I'll give you an update.

1 hour ago, KJakker said:@warthog64 I am in the possess of doing a full data file overhaul for the Falklands and the YAP Rising Sun ship data files. Falklands 82 ships should come first.
Also that seems too weak for a US carrier due to US damage control.
That sounds great! Thanks KJakker
As for the structuralfactor, 700 seemed to work fine for the Yorktown, but so far that's the only ship I've tested. What number would you recommend?
-
The "StructuralFactor" really seemed to make a difference. Seems a good number for WWII carriers is 700, certainly makes the task of sinking them much more realistic. Took about three well placed 500kg bombs to destroy the CV-5 USS Yorktown from Rising Sun.
Thanks again everyone

Other ships that are very easy to destroy are most of the ships from the Falklands War mod. Such as the Type 21 frigate and Type 42 destroyer.
Thanks everybody for your help!

YAP Rising Sun Decals
in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Posted
Hello everyone
I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck getting decals for aircraft from the rising sun showing up in SF2? The aircraft work fine for me but decals do not.
Thanks
