  8. Frohe Weihnachten

Danke schoen, Jeder!
  9. 98Pt195 Rogue's technique its actually better than what I usually do But just be aware that you might do everything right and still finish the mission with a partial success rating or even a failure. I remember that once during a sweep my flight downed 9 bogies between us and when we RTB'd, mission debriefing rated our mission as poor. It was hella fun thou
  10. Well until you get the jist of navigating, you should keep the 2nd display up (the one w/ the TOS and ETA) only because it tells you the speed and altitude you should be traveling in order to be at the right place at the right time. Don't dwell too much on the display though...you need to keep ur eyes outta the cockpit and maintain a high situational awareness. Your wingman and/or your element lead may ask permission to fire ( ie "let me out" or "request permission to engage") even before you spot the enemy on radar, so also keep that in mind when engaging. You might have some of the sorties confused. Usually when you fly sweep, you are not tied down by the AWACS. They might direct you toward bogies, but you don't have to ask permission from AWACS before returning to base, nor do you have to loiter around a certain steerpoint. Fly towards your waypoints, engage any enemies, and continue following waypoints. The only sorties where you have to remain in the air for a certain time of period and when you have to check-in and check-out with AWACS are in DCA, BARCAP, HAVCAP missions. In those missions, you HAVE TO stay on station for the fragged time (usually 30mins, which you can always change).
  11. The mission is still winnable even though you might run out of missiles and guns. As preacher said, you have to discipline yourself and pick out the targets that are the biggest threat. Sometimes multiple enemy flights will appear, but AWACS does a good job of directing your flight to engage the bogies most threatning to your flight. (Just remember, you aren't the only plane out there, you have 3 others in your flight, plus countless other AI controlled flights in the area that can take care of the other bogies). Once you're winchester, ask permission to RTB (if your doing TARCAPs or HVCAPs) or simply just continue flying to your waypoints until you return home.

Bekam ich das beste Geschenke von meinen Leben...war ich in Med School akzeptiert!!!
  13. Uhh, good question. You can actually do all the navigation/timing successfully using only the cues provided in the HUD. Once you get comfortable and master the current realism settings you are in now, kick it up a notch and I'll tell you how you can navigate by looking at the HUD alone and not worry about your TOS or ETA display. But I'll answer your question fully when I get home and try it out myself. As for your second question, you really can't re-arm in mid-air or anything once you are out of missiles. Once you're out, you're out. Returning to base and successfully landing won't reload you either. You can always select the unlimited ammo function in your settings.
  14. Dogfighting mode

The "dogfight" switch is actually not in the cockpit instrumentation, but on the throttle itself. So unless you have a HOTAS joystick like the one from Thrustmaster, I think you are stuck with pressing "D." As for pressing the "A-A" button, it sorta like the dogfight switch. I think the difference is that when using the "dogfight" option, you have both the AIM-9 recticle and the EEGS gunsight, where as when using the "A-A" feature, only the selected weapon's recticle will show (that is, if you pick an AIM-9, no gunsight will show). I think....lol
  15. Pesky SAMs

    From the album Random Screenshots

Taken from Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. I was flying low trying to avoid detection but apparently these low-altitude SAMS weren't fooled. At this range the PK of the SAMs is near 100%..needless to say there wasn't much left of me to be recovered.

  17. I only own F4AF out of the two, so I can only vouch for that particular game. Graphics: Like others have pointed out, the graphics on this sim aren't exactly top-notch. The terrain looks fuzzy and hazy..almost a generic patch of green/brown/tan with a few mountains here and there. Damage detail on the jet is practically non-existant, with the exception of a weakly-done fire trail that sorta appears once your bird has taken a catastrophic hit. However, the in-cockpit details are pretty good, almost photo realistic, and all consoles are fully clickable. Gameplay: The campaigns are what make this sim fun. You are given choice to participate in campaigns in the Balkans or in the Koreas, and there is also a Panama theater of operations available to download here in C.A. What set these campaigns apart from others is that the campaign adjusts to the human pilot's sucess or failures, which has consequences on the overall theater. For instance, if you fail to sweep an area clean of bogies over a target, the incoming SEAD package might be torn to shreds by the enemy CAP, and the following strike package might get shot outta the sky by the SAMS that should have been destroyed. Even while you are in the hangar messing with your weapons config or looking at the latest recon, AI generated missions are operating nonstop. And don't think you can finish a campaign in one day's sitting...these campaigns take days to finish! Difficulty: This game can be scaled back to have an arcadish feel to it, but it was meant to be flown in full realism. The accompanying 700pg+ PDF manual doesn't seem enough to cover all the game is capable of, what each button is used for, or how to defeat certain threats. But as others have stated, in full realism you are responsible for knowing which avionic configuration works best for a particular mission, how to lock-on to bogies or static objects, and what settings your multi-functional displays work best to give you the information you need to stay alive. The individual enemy varies in difficulty: some you can just blast out of the sky, while some MiG 21s will give you a fight of a lifetime. FLAK and AAA placements are surprisingly accurate, and when sychronized with SAM installments, are darn right deadly! The full clickability of the cockpit and the effective enemy AI make every mission a pleasure to fly. Imagine looking into the tv display on the bottom right side of cockpit, trying to place the target designator box of the LGB over the nuclear reactor while at the same time making sure the knobs and switches, altitude, heading, and speed are correct when all of a sudden warning tones come to life screaming, indicating an imminent threat. You change your gaze up to the Threat Warning Scope in upper left corner of the cockpit to see the radar return of an SA-5 and the MISSILE LAUNCH WARNING display flashing. What do you do? Drop chaff hoping to spook the missile and keep on course until you can pickle the paveway? Or do you jettison stores and go into immediate evasive manuevers? If you can imagine that, that's F4AF.
  18. Good call on the Foxbat. Was not one credited with downing a Hornet during the first night of the Gulf War, or was that just wishful thinking on the part of the Iraqi Airforce? Oh and gotta add the U-2 to the list....flying as close to the heavens as possible.
  19. WWII: P-51, Me-262. The Mustang is probably the best fighter of all time, while the 262 ushered in a new chapter in the book of combat aviation. Cold War: F-8, MiG 21. Fell in love w/ the Crusador after watching a documentary titled "The Last Dogfighter." The Fishbed for it's pure beauty, raw speed, and deadliness in the hands of a skilled pilot. Modern: F-16. A light weight versatile jet that can do it all: SEAD, strike missions, CAP/TARCAP/HAVCAP, can even hold it's own in a dogfight w/ the big boys
  20. UFO's: Have you seen one?

I never was a pilot or anything, but I saw something weird back in 05 while walking to my univ. one morning. I was just about to cross a street near the railroad tracks when up in the early morning sky I saw this really shiny thing "floating" slowly away from me, towards where the sun was rising. It was really shiny..I'm talking about chrome shiny. It almost looked like a floating drop of mercury. It made no sound that I could hear (asides from chirping birds) and it was pretty high up there. I looked at it for a couple of seconds, and then continued on my way. I went to college in Macon, Georgia, which is about 15miles away from Robin's Air Force Base. The city also has a local airport, so this object could have very well be an airplane or anything else. I'm not saying it was an alien space craft, but it's something I didn't know what it was (which isn't a big shock cuz my knowledge of flying things isn't extensive, lol)
  21. Who like soccer?

LMAO!!!! Hilarious stuff! I'm sure Roberto Carlos would still crush the ball though.
  22. A MASSIVE complaint about something...

    Yous ever had Fluffernutters?
  23. 5 Years

Bought SFP1 on Nov 2002 when I was in Alabama for Thanksgiving break. Didn't play much of it though, as all that freedom of freshmint year in college kept life interesting.
  24. Any History about CA?
