  1. The highway airfields weren't that unprepared. At both ends there were turning and refuelling areas and the lenght of the strip was comparable to a normal runway. I remember driving on a newly opened stretch of German Autobahn near Ahlhorn AB south of Oldenburg where the tiremarks of the landing planes were clearly visible. Just a week or so before the opening they had used the strip for just about everything flying around at that time, including F4's, F 16's, NF 5's, A 10's, F 15's, Buccaneers, Mirage's, F 111's F 104's etc. etc. A German F4 was damaged when it touched down a bit short and hit the last few meters of the barrier dividing the two lanes of the highway with it's afterburner cans.... (expensive noises I'm afraid) The Harrier hideouts were quite a different matter, rather more primitive, tucked away in wooded areas, for instance in a corner of the former Luftwaffe airfield at Venlo and at army training areas and just about anywhere where there was tree cover. They could not be used by the conventional fighters, having only a very short stretch of road for short take offs, that could hardly be called a runway. Landing, after expending weapons and light on fuel was often done vertically . There were camouflaged dispersals on steel matting. JSF Aggies work reminds me more of the Swedish type of dispersion, where a simple stretch of public road (not even a motorway)was used, maybe 1000m long with camouflaged dispersals alongside, often connected by road acting as taxiway to the nearby main airfield. (see Google Earth around Satenes Airbase northeast of Trollhättan for instance). Lots of MiG's were prepared for grass runways (E. Germany had a lot of them, up to 3000m. long) and of course they also used highway strips (also in Poland and Checho Slovakia). Preschen AB and Laage AB were even connected by taxiway to nearby highways (see also Google Earth) The highway strips are a great addition !!!! Aju, Derk
  2. What a fantastic response with fantastic skins !!!!!! Aju, Derk
  3. Prize winner at Tiger Meet 2011 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Derk
  4. By the way, I see I made it to "Senior Member". Must start saving for a wheelchair (by Martin Baker......) Aju, Derk
  5. Hey Volker Let's see if this works: this is the camo/low vizz example on the F16 MLU. The high vizz one is in the same position just checkered red/white (they call it Brabants Bont). The low vizz 313Sq badge is correct at Ronan's picture. If you need a high vizz badge just say so and I'll mail you Aju, Derk
  6. Hi Volker, Very pretty, but alas, 315 Sq. and Twenthe Airbase (tailband) are no more...... All that is left is 306 (OCU), 311,312, 313, 322and 323 Sq. and with the current plans for max. 85 F35's and the ongoing operations in Afghanistan, Tsjaad or wherever some a..holes start showing Kalashnikovs, funding will be minimal so probably a couple of extra squadrons will be disbanded and airbases closed. Right now another 18 F16 MLU's will be sold in order to maintain the effort in Afghanistan....... Just the same a fine skin (only point is that the roundel on the air intake is upside down.......) Aju, Derk
  7. What's the dirty exhaust effect ??? As beautifull as the Fulcrum ....... Aju, Derk
  8. Thanks klavs, wonderfull piece of hardware, looking great. As a non patcher (good old SFP1) I have to run it in the normal flight model but it's doing well there !!!! Aju, Derk
  9. Believe it or not, but I'm still running the original version of SFP1 (which I bought twice because of a cracked up CD....). Now WOV, WOI and WOE are patched. Does "... and can be applied to any version of the game " mean that I can use it too , or is good old SFP1 down the drain in the process Aju, Derk
  10. Proficiat, with your degree AND your MiG's !!!!!! Aju, Derk
  11. Agreed, same goes for cobra's and all sorts of tumbling manoeuvers by canard equiped aircraft. Tactics & pilot skills are the dominating factors in the end, but just the same the Mirage 2000 is a more than fair dogfighter i.m.h.o., "a slippery eel" to put in terms of the most popular animal in this forum.. Aju, Derk
  12. Indeed, apart from the fact that no Mirage 2000 D/N driver would probably be looking for a dogfight before or after dropping ornance, the Mirage Deux Mille can perform a couple of manoeuvers thet no F 14, F15, F16, F18 or Fulcrum can follow. The reaxed stability/ fly by wire/ small canard configuration removes most of the traditional disadvantages of the delta wing, while keeping most of the advantages. A well flown demo of a Mirage 2000 is a breathtaking experience !!! (see You Tube) Aju, Derk
  13. As far as I know, it was the only occasion where the Streak was used in anger , Aju, Derk
  14. Any chance for a "long tail" (brake chute/ECM) for the Belgians, Norwegians & Dutch ? Aju, Derk
  15. The more, the merrier !! Goodlooking thing, if we could use the MF F16 Ravenclaw Klu skins or for that matter the Belgian ones for the B model, everything would be possible !!! Aju, Derk
  16. How the was turned into an , fun!!!!!!!!!!!! Aju, Derk
  17. Misschien moet je eens kletsen met Muesli, zit ook niet zo ver weg, in ditzelfde kikkerland.... Aju, Derk
  18. Hi Christian, Great surprise for us Europeans !!! Thank you very much for this long overdue addition, great performer, impressive part of many airshow over the past 25 years or so !!! Just a few remarks: the normal C model is powered by the M53-P2 of 64298 kN dry and 94995kN in full AB, making it a bit less powerfull. On the other hand your total internal fuel is about 3.900 kilos, while in fact it is 3.978 litres, translating into 3.107 kilos. If you change the left and right tanks fuel amounts to 717 kilos and the rear bottom tank to 239 kilos it adds up to about the right total, making the plane quite a bit lighter. Will probably make some difference in the FM. Thanks again for a great job !!!!! Aju, Derk
  19. Gefeliciteerd, welcome to the club !!! Aju, Derk
  20. Herstel/correction: the MF based skins do not work ...... sorry, but the others do  (see attachment last post) Aju, Derk
  21. Thanks a lot Trooper, makes it an effective strike aircraft again with indeed a nice pit !!!!! Aju, Derk
