F-16BM Dutch skin
Kirsten replied to ronan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
OK Gentleman, Let's try it out, something like this ? And Ronan: indeed standard procedure. Add the texture in the .ini and add the skin map to the plane map. I changed the nationality in the data.ini to NETHERLANDS and gave the Dutch skins the first 3 numbers, creating a KLU F16B as the standard. The skins and tails of Hrntfxr work as well.... Good luck, Derk -
F-16BM Dutch skin
Kirsten replied to ronan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Good luck !! Derk -

Yes, you can kill a MiG with a lance...

In the Congo an helicopter was shot down with bow&arrow (hit a fuel line) so why not a lance ?? Aju, Derk -

Same with my F16MLU, never found the answer, no assymetrical values in FM or anything, got used to it... Curious just the same what the cause may be. Aju, Derk -
Bone update
Kirsten replied to bigal1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Missed this one when I came back from holidays..... COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !! Remenber one at Leeuwarden Airshow back in the nineties when it came in low and very fast over the runway with the shockwaves forming on the leding edeges of the wings ...... Looking very much forward to it , Aju, Derk -
Modern UK terrain?
Kirsten replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hey Baltika, For clear pics of the Dutch bases use www.routenet.be , click on the British flag and use the map. Belgium is avalable only as a map but for some reason Holland can be seen in aerial pics. Can be magnified considerably for a very clear look at the airfields. As I said, Holland only..... One litlle suggestion: runway alignment is usually 09-27 or 06-24 or something like it, because of the prevailing westerly or south-westerly winds. Except for Gilze Rijen (a secundary N-S runway) you'll find it everywhere. Would be nice to have a more or less correct alignment. If you need precise info just say so. Looking very much forward to the terrain (and to Scotland for that matter, because we'll be spending the autumn holidays at good old Loch Tay...........) Aju, Derk -
Modern UK terrain?
Kirsten replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Lazboy, basically right positions. If there is room, Soesterberg (52'08" N, 05'16"E) , Twenthe (52'16"N , 6'53"E), Gilze Rijen (51'34"N , 4'56"E) and maybe Eindhoven (51'27"N, 5'22"E) were all fighter / strike fighter bases until quite recently. The rest, Woensdrecht, Ypenburg, Valkenburg (Navy) and de Peel only had combat aircraft for shorter periods or during deployments, though Woensdrecht and De Peel do have shelters. Except for the Peel and Ypenburg, all bases were built during WW II with 2 runways at angles or parallel (Volkel) and they were quite big (though not as HUGE as Karup in Denmark or Ramstein, have a look at them in Google Earth...) The WOE airfields by Gepard are better suited than the big US style standard airfields so if you could use them it would really add quality !! If you have any more questions I'll be glad to help you, Aju, Derk -
Modern UK terrain?
Kirsten replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This would be wonderful !!! Map looks great and I'm very much looking forward to flying in Scotland. If included, bases in Holland are also to be found At Wikipedia (category "Airports in Holland) and at Routenet Satelite Pics. (at Google Earth the bases have been made "invisible" for reasons of security, big deal !!!!!) Aju, Derk  -

Would be great if it would include Scotland too (number of bases and intruding Badgers, Bears, Blinders and Backfires or whatever....) Fantastic landscape too !! Aju, Derk -

Aju, Derk -
ECM Project
Kirsten replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Thanks Column5, extremely usefull !! Interesting thing would be a similar assesment of the WP stuff. AIM 120B & C are almost useless against Fulcrum and Flankers as well against even the old Blinder and I wonder if the AMRAAM is really that ineffective in real life ....... Aju, Derk -

Fine "patrol" interceptor for Bear-, Backfire-, Blinder-, Badger- hunting far out over the sea , good range and armament and that's that. No golden wonder candoeverything allround fighter.... Did good service and helped to win the Cold War (are we heading for a new chapter in that ??) Aju, Derk -

M'n mail doet wat lullig v.w.b. uitgaande mail maar als alles het weer doet zal ik je m'n aangepast data.ini mailen (die van Armourdave is wat te tam in V max etc.) Thx, Derk -
