  1. OK good! I'll add that to the readme for the final release.
  2. I don't know how it works in SF2(V), but in WOV, you could copy the singlemissionscreen.dll file from the menu folder from WOE and drop it into your menu folder in WOV (replacing the one that's there), then get all the WOE mission type options in the drop down menu (Anti-ship, Intercept, SEAD instead of Iron-Hand). If you have SF2 or SF2E, you could try the same thing with SF2V. Make sure to back up the original SF2V files first in case something goes wrong, though...
  3. Does anyone know if the new titles have different requirements for .wav files? I still haven't been able to get the flak.wav sound to work from Fubar's 57mm effect mod. Added the entries to the .ini in the folder for the gun in the guns folder, etc... The new flak cloud shows up fine, it's just the sound that doesn't. And, yes, the .wav file is in the sounds folder.
  4. Hmmm... I think you could do it either way, although if you're dropping it in the SF2, it would have to be a SF2/SF2V merged install. I haven't messed with merged installs with the new SF2 series much yet, so I don't have the folder structures and relationships down real well. I think the best way to do it would be drop into your SF2V folder, whether it's merged or not. But you could always try it the other way and let us know how it goes!
  5. Just so I have this straight then, where exactly do the files go? In the main game folder (with the .exe), or my "saved games" SF2 folder? And does the .ini go in the main directory or the flight folder?
  6. If you're using the WOx series, I think your only option is to manually edit the type and qty of weapons available in the campaign_Data.ini file. If you're using SF2(x), the weapons are no longer called out in the campaign_data.ini file. The game just pulls from all weapons the way it does for single missions, which is nice and makes campaign editing/creating much easier. I'm not sure how the game determines the qty for each weapon type in this case. Maybe it uses "Base Qty" the way it does for single missions...?
  7. Is it Vista only? I guess I didn't get that part...
  8. "Worked" for me on SF2 XP, but didn't result in a FPS increase at all, and the bloom didn't really work very well. (the shaded side of all the A-4's were nearly black, even when not silouetted directly against the sun). Of course, I'm running a craptastic intal GMA X3100 integrated card...
  9. Like MigBuster said, a comprehensive list of what needs to be done hasn't been created yet. I think a lot of folks are still trying to figure it out for themselves right now, so no one has taken time to set up a "tutorial". Plus, it's going to be different for all different aircraft, so there won't be a list of changes to make that are applicable to all aircraft. There will probably be a general guide of things to look for, but the one doing the conversion will probably have to be pretty experienced under the hood of the TW series and do a few things differently depending on what changes are being made. I'd say at this point you have two options: 1. Sit tight and wait a month or two until all the experienced modders have had their way with the new series. Maybe a list or checklist will show up then. 2. Start digging into aircraft on your own and read all the information you can from the KB and other forums, and see if you can figure it out.
  10. Yup, you need to be able to patch up. I have no idea what a 2004 install looks like.
  11. The delete button should be there. I can't load up my game since I'm at work, but it should be there. You looking at 'Load Campaign' and not 'Create Campaign', right? There might be some single missions that attempt to 'simulate' refueling (ie - you just line up and fly formation with a tanker for a while), but it's not really implemented in this game at all. There is a payware addon (Yankee Air Pirate) that kind of simulates A/A fueling, but you'd have to spend more money than WOV or SF2V costs in the first place, and I've never tried it, so I don't know how fun it is or if it's worth the price. PS - 1,000 posts...
  12. I tired it, and it didn't work for me. I think it did work for some others, but it was more a graphical enhancement and didn't really help with performance. You can try it though... Worst thing that happens is you have to delete two files to get things back to normal.
  13. 1) I think when you're in the "load campaign" tab, there should be a 'delete' button that deletes the currently selected campaign. 2) From the main menu, go to 'single mission' and click on the 'load' tab. 3) Look through the knowledge base section of the fourms for a section on creating/editing campaigns. You'll have to use the .CAT tool extractor and get familiar with what files have to go in what folders and how the files need to be edited (sounds intimidating but is really easy, just be patient). Once you've done that you, can modify the stock LBI campaign to add in the F-105F/G in where it is using the 'D' as a stand in.
  14. The files go in: xxxx/Saved Games/ThirdWire/Strike Fighters2 Vietnam/Campaigns/CampaignV1 You will need to create some of the folders.
  15. WWII gunpods

Are your controls only screwed up with that A/C, or is it others as well?
  16. Amazing video of new sim

There was an interview/article at SimHQ, and it was said that this game would have scalable realism (Arcarde, hard, and sim... or something like that). I'm not saying it will be a great arcade game or great sim because of that, but at least it shows the developers are asking themselves the same questions we're asking here and trying to find ways to make it appeal to a large enough audience. I would love to have something flight sim-ish on my Xbox 360, since it can handle much better graphics than my laptop.
  17. Yep. I already took advantage of that. I started with SF2, did some tweaking and modding, and then went to isntall SF2V. I didn't realize until installation was complete that it automatically merged them for me. Since I'm still exploring the games on their own and trying get a feel for things, I don't want anything merged yet. While I did have to reinstall both titles, my mods were preserved in the separate folders. I haven't utilized that much yet, but once I attempt some merged installs, I'm sure it will come in handy! Yeah right
  18. Commenting out the MiG squadrons was the only way I ever got rid of that bug. I tried spreading units to other bases (and even adding more units at other bases), but none of it worked.
  19. God, that show was so much better than Ice Road Truckers...
  20. That is a known bug with WOV and the Oct 08 patch. There are three options: 1) Extract the campaign data.ini files for the 3 WOV campaigns and comment out all of the MiG units (the knowledge base section of the forum can instruct you on how to do this). 2) Use the 2006 patch 3) Buy SF2V and play that instead.
  21. I was resistant at first, since I had finally gotten my WOV and WOE installs to the point where I didn't need to tweak 'em anymore, but I just backed up WOE, WOV, ODS, LBIII, OTC, Falk.1982, WOI, and WOK to DVD. Like KillerBee, they are for reference only now. All I have installed now is FE, SF2, and SF2V (OK, and Janes F/A-18, IL-2 1926, F4AF, and EECH). I will add SF2E once NF4+ comes out. Hopefully OTC2 and the Falkland Upgrade will follow too.
  22. So I tried to play a few Red Lightning missions in an A-10 just a couple minutes ago (WOE, Oct 08), and the SA-8's were making things damn near impossible. I like the challenge and surprise that the SA-9 and SA-13 have added, but that SA-8 is just about taking the fun out. I'm thinking about removing it. What do you guys think? In a late 70's conflict in Europe, would the SA-8 have played such a huge role? The game engine seems to love to choose it to fill mobile_AAA spots, so they show up everywhere. And they seem to be pretty deadly. I haven't seen much about any combat history with the SA-8. Anyone know how common they would be or how deadly?
  23. Anyone know if Kesselbrut is still around and if the '08 patch or SF2 version of the Falkland 1982 mod is still in the works? It was said in the Falkland 1982 readme that a version was in the works to be compatible with the later patch, but it's been over a year since then and since Kesselbrut posted last. It is probably my favorite TW mod so far, and I'd love to be able to get it into SF2!
  24. Go for it! Let me know if it works. I want to say I tried it before, but I really don't remember...
  25. Well, new tools are required... I think. But, really, you shouldn't be recompiling the .cat files anyway. Simply extract the file you want to modify, make the modification, and place it in the correct folder in your SF2 mods location. Exactly the same as with the older titles, only the modified files go in a mods folder, not the main game folder. Check the knowledgebase forum for more info... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...view=getnewpost
