  1. Since this is my own thread, I don't feel bad about de-railing it. Does anyone know if it's possible to: 1) Make the turret on a chopper in the TW series moveable, so it will automatically slave to the selected visual target? 2) Somehow slave the turret to the pilots view, so that we could have sort of a HIDSS type thing? I know this is asking a lot for the TW engine, but I was just curious...
  2. I already posted some suggestions/my feedback on the KB (or Knowledge Base, if some would prefer ) in the thread that was for KB feedback. But in addition to what I already posted, maybe it would be a good idea to have the first thread in the knowledge base be a Table of Contents (sort of a tree structure, so you could see what's going on), maybe with links as well so you could go straight to the topic from the ToC. And I fully second (or third or whatever) the suggestion that the search funtion be looked at/investigated/improved. It is one of the worst I've ever used. Not that it can't be used, but it can be very difficult to find what you're looking for. My 2 cents.
  3. I tired on my original laptop after you posted that, and I didn't really see any change. You could always just try it and see how it works, right?
  4. Got everything going on my MacBook on Saturday. Same graphics settings that gave me ~10-17 fps before now give me a steady 27-30 fps! Also got Free-track going on Friday. The unfortunate result of all this is that I did not enjoy much of the beautiful weather on Sunday... ;)
  5. There's an F-15E in the downloads section, but it seems pretty out of date, especially when compared to the F-15A's from WOE and WOI. No HUD, a weird cockpit, the lantirn seems to be built into the model, but is not functional... Is there a more up to date one out there (up to WOE/WOI standards)? I've searched but couldn't find one... Or is there one in the works maybe? Thanks!
  6. What!?!? The MFD doesn't work? Come on... Just kidding. Seriously, I cannot believe that I made this request, leave my computer for 13 hours, come back, and you have miraculously whipped one up. Outstanding! Thanks!.
  7. Install trouble

I would look in the location that the error message says it searching... C:/Archivos de programa/Lead Pursuit/Battlefield Operations/terrdata/Korea/texture/texture.zip.
  8. Maybe someone here can enlighten me. I have a Dell laptop that has a 1.4ghz processor. That is where I currently run WOV. I have another laptop that has an Intel Duo Core 2.2 ghz processor, and I'm hoping it will give better performance. So if WOV doesn't take advantage of the Duo Core, is the 2.2 Duo Core any better, worse, or the same as the regular 1.4? Is there a "conversion"?
  9. Well, I'm going to try something a little new. Maybe I'm even the first one, who knows... Since there seems to be no hope for upgrading my current Dell laptop, and buying a new one is out of the question, I was trying to think of another way to get some better performance. And then it hit me... I have another laptop with a 2.2 ghz dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a GMA X3100 integrated card. All of these are at least slightly better than what I have on my Dell, and RAM is PC5300, which means I can easily and cheaply upgrade to 4GB if I want to. The only catch... it's my MacBook. But then I started looking into Boot Camp some more, which I had glossed over initially and then forgotten about. Boot Camp will allow me to partition the hard drive on my mac book, put windows on part of it, and then run the laptop using either OS. Windows will have full access to all the hardware. So, anyway, once I can get my hands on a non-branded copy of XP SP2, I'm going to give this a try and see if I can get WOE/WOV up and running on my MacBook - hopefully with better performance than what was seen on my Dell...
  10. I've been using the "Going Downtown" single mission from WOV to just that. It's got a decent amount of things going on, and gets us somewhat close to that Frame-Rate-Killer that goes by the name of Hanoi. Although I've found that I usually get lower fps in campaign missions over Hanoi than I do in "Going Downtown". It's close though. And, FYI, after paying closer attention to my fps last night, I noticed that I may have been getting a 2-5 fps improvement with the RAM added after all, but even if I did, it was very inconsistent, and not worth the $60 in my opinion.
  11. Well, I obviously have no idea at this point. I can tell you what won't work though...
  12. No, I didn't try to turn up the graphics at all. I guess that would have been worth trying. But like you said, all that money just to stay at 15-20 fps isn't really worth it. I'm just going to be happy with what I have for now and worry about better performance when it's time for a new laptop in a few years.
  13. Wow. So I picked up 1GB ram from Fry's on my lunch break. Went home and installed it... 0, zero, nada, nothing as far as FPS improvement goes. I saw absolutely no difference in the performance of my laptop. Not during start-up, game loading, anything. The extra RAM was detected on startup and showed a total of 1280MB RAM. But absolutely nothing as far as performance goes. Luckily, I was able to return it.
  14. Which sim for a Laptop ?

Our laptops are somewhat similar: 1.4 ghz processor 768 MB RAM GMA 950 integrated card I run WOE/WOV on medium settings with no real issues. With your extra RAM, I would guess that yours will be able to do better. I also run F4:AF (Falcon 4: Allied Forces) on high settings with no issues, IL-2: 1946 on high with no issues. So out of those three, you should be able to pick whatever suits your playing style.
  15. Did you try this fix? The stock model is all jacked up with the gear down. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26289
  16. Thanks. I checked that out. The prices looked pretty similar to what I saw at Fry's... unless I missed something...? XP.
  17. Yeah, yeah. I know. That's why I put this disclaimer in my original post: "I know there are graphics options I can adjust to improve performance and I've experimented with all those. That's not the info I'm looking for right now." I don't use shadows at all. Turning off mirrors does give a 4-5 fps improvement. My thing, though, is I want the "from the cockpit" experience to be "neat" (for lack of a much better word) as possible. I've sacrificed some other things (object detail, object texture, horizon distance) which results in external shots looking like crap, but keeps things moving when in a crowded airspace/groundspace. Yeah, I found 1GB at Fry's fro ~$50, so I figure its worth a shot. I'm not expecting to turn everything up to unlimited. Just set things up to medium at least, mirrors on, and not have it turn into a slide show around Hanoi.
  18. It took me a while to understand that that was an incorrect tile. I actually think it looks really good that way!
  19. Good news! I think I may go for some more RAM then... My settings are similar to yours right now (everything medium, mirrors on, horizon near, object texture and detail low) Regarding installation, I upgraded when I first got my laptop from 256 to 768, and it took about 5 mins. Open one screw, out with one card, slide in the new.
  20. I was never able to find an Su-27 cockpit to go with my SU-27 downloaded from Marcfighters, so I didn't think one existed. But then I just noticed that the new Mig-29 pits are based off of a supposed SU-27 pit. So where can I find the SU-27 pit? Thanks!
  21. Oh, my mistake. I must have missed that. Thanks!
  22. Try installing both Brain's tiles and then the green hell mod. Then look at the data.ini file in Brain's zip file (since you over wrote it with the green hell one). Find the section call Water Texture or whatever it is. Copy that whole section and paste it in over the one in Green Hell. That fixed it for me.
  23. I've found that I have problems with the stock A-6 Intruder from WOV when I lower the landing gear in attempt to land on a carrier after completing a campaign mission. After slowing to the appropriate speed, I drop the gear and prepare to land. As expected, the nose drops a little, but then the aircraft seems to become incredibly unstable pitch wise. I wants to only fly with either a nose up, or nose down attitude, and always wants to swing past nose level. This is very difficult to explain, but hopefully someone gets what I'm talking about. It seems to be worse after completing a campaign mission, vs. the single carrier landing mission. Changing loadouts/jettisoning stores seems to have no effect. Has anyone seen this before? Any fixes out there? Thanks!
  24. Thanks. I knew it was probably out there somewhere, but I couldn't find it. !!! PS - I've also seen the fix for the field of view in the intruder to give some more visibility out the right side. And once again, I can't find it for the life of me. Can someone point me to it?
