Personalized Decal
rovert97 replied to Jug's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
ok after reading how to make a decal, how do you know where it will go on a plane, and what size to use? -
tomcats cost too much to maintain, therefore they were retired... just like the F-117's. too much time spent on maintaining them, as compared to flying them. its a shame that they retired the 117's, they have only been around a relatively short time.

WOE: "Desert Storm" mod intro video in the works
rovert97 replied to ShinKazama88's topic in The Pub
technically, the first B-2 was publicly displayed on 22 November 1988, before the F-117 was, however the first operational aircraft wasn't delivered until December 17, 1993. so the F-117 had first chance at combat ops. the F-117 was kept a secret until 1988 also, but they had to reveal it after a picture was made public sometime in that year. i cant remember the date tho. the good news is this.... none of us can wait any longer for this mod. it sounds like it is going to be top notch. here is a preemptive thank you to all the helped make it. -

so far only the air brake thing is the only detail that isnt modeled correctly. maybe an inflight refueling probe, but thats just eyecandy anyway. love the bird, did an armed recon mission with a flight of 4.... loaded out all different munitions, and caused some hell on the highway. with about 4 trucks left, i got jumped by a flight of 4 SU-27's, the chinese models with that crazy flight model that makes them turn on a dime. this bird ate them for dinner without a problem. 2 gun kills and a winder kill by me, the wingman got one winder kill. -
i just retired my Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital, still works too, and ive been heavily using that stick for atleast 8 years. it seems like ive had it forever. i recently picked up a new Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D at a yardsale for $5, the force feedback model, with the twisting stick for rudder controls. its an ok stick, but the rotation for the rudder is loose and sloppy so it disabled that cuz the planes would veer off at the slightest twist. i may go back and take apart the old wingman, clean it out, grease up the joints a little bit, and start using that one again. ive never in my oh, 15 years or so flight sims, used anything by thrustmaster so i cant comment on their quality.

wait until fist of the fleet get their hands on this bird. -
the death of Jane's at the hands of EA was the end on an era.. Jane's had some of the best flight sims ever produced. i wish they could be updated to modern computer specs, but i dont think that will ever happen.

WOE:BC F-16C Block 30

for the CAS i would ditch the CBU-59's and toss on 2 CBU-87's, CBU-89's or CBU-97's instead. thats what i used to send out to the flightline all the time. for strikes, load it up with a few 500 lb GBU's or JDAM's or even dumb bombs. edit: nevermind... im thinking about the timeframe i was working ammo. your looking for a loadout for 1990 not 2000. some other quick info. Specialized F-16A/B aircraft serving with air defense units of the Air National Guard could carry and launch the AIM-7 Sparrow missile from the outermost underwing hardpoints. most likely the M or P version. also the Mk83's werent widely used, so stick the 82's and 84's. -
WOI Mod?
rovert97 replied to eliahu2006's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
i thought it was going to based on Mel Brooks' Jews In Space from the end of History of the World Part 1. -
is there anyone out there that has thought about making an upgraded A-10 to the new C model, allowing the use of the JDAM and a new Pit with the 2 MFD's? also a quick skin change to say the 357th at Davis-Monthan, or for Moody AFB. The A-10C's cockpit will receive 2 5X5 multifunction Color Displays (MFCDs), a Hands On Stick and Throttle (HOTAS) system with a modified F-15E right throttle grip, and a modified F-16 control stick grip. Other cockpit items include an Upfront Controller, new Armament HUD control panel, and a redesigned main instrument panel to hold it all. quick info on whats in the plane Air-to-Air Missiles: AIM-9M Sidewinder (2), Guided Missiles: AGM-65A Maverick, Bombs: GBU-10 Paveway II, GBU-12 Paveway II, GBU-16 Paveway II, GBU-31 JDAM, GBU-32 JDAM, WCMD, Sensors & Communications: AN/ALR-69, LITENING AT, LITENING ER, Sniper XR, Protection Systems: AN/ALQ-131. pics of the new Pit i love moving some mud with this plane, and would really enjoy being able to use new weapons on the bird.

man i wish TW sims were as immersive to show all those details that the VR Sims F/A-18E has. makes me almost want to reinstall FSX again, too bad its too damn big, and runs like hell on my machine -
most german torpedos in ww2 had about 650 lbs of explosive. id assume this one has a hell of a lot more. it about broke the ship in two. and it was a perfectly aimed shot, right at the middle.

man i wish i got stationed there. being stuck in New Mexico for my whole ride sucked. good luck with changing bases.

Most damaged aircraft that remained flyable
rovert97 replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
the f-4 got shot up pretty good on a sead mission a-10 took a sam to the ass. no engines, no left rudder or tail, missing flaps and ailerons on the left, missing left gear. it was a pain but i managed the 50nm journey back to base and kissed the ground when i got out. midair collsion with an F-5 during some maneuvers. damn top gun rookies. the tom made it home tho.
