OT: Mad Otter Games acquires Red Baron Series
Gremlin_WoH posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Mad Otter Games has acquired the Red Baron Series: More on Wings Of Honor Cheers -
The price is great. That's for sure. But keep in mind if you buy separate USB pedals that the flight sims you want to use those need to allow for a separate setup of stick and pedal. There are older sims (from pre-USB times) that are not prepared for this. Cheers

Speaking of long term: I bought mine in 1995, they are 14 years old now and are still working flawlessly. I started to use them under Windows 95, then Windows 98 and now Windows XP. Never had any issues, never needed any driver. For those with Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar make sure you pick those with the /C denominator in the name. They are specially made for the Cougar.

Gremlin_WoH replied to OvS's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Mark and James, great plane model and great skins (we already saw some more of them). My favourite mount. I hope it will be released very soon James,do you have also an ace skin for Onkel Theo's E.V or D.VIII while flying in MFJ I (Theodor Osterkamp, it has been reported he flew one with black and yellow 'bumble-bee' design)? Cheers -
O.T. Still flying RB3D?

Cameljockey, FCJ should be still available once in a while from Kessler via his eBay site: http://myworld.ebay.com/plgrafix/ If not then you could contact him. Cheers -
My long overdue interview with neoqb is now online. My questions had been sent in to neoqb on 15-May-2009. Due to unforeseen circumstances their answers did not came back until 13-Aug-2009. Therefore some of the answers are outdated by now. But anyway maybe you can find some new information as well for example neoqb's plans for the future: Interview on Wings Of Honor Cheers

Sorry but if you have a closer look and read you will see it is about Grand Prix Legends. Do not let the first couple of pictures fool you. Cheers -
I did not vote yet but if people find numbers disturbing make it medals: say, Iron Cross 2nd class for easiest setting ... Pour Le Merite for hardest settings

A Revisit to 1.32 Superpatch.
Gremlin_WoH replied to Fortiesboy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Oh, forgot about that one though I have it on my website. The JSGME is very useful. It can be downloaded also via Wings Of Honor Downloads under the section 'Utilities'. Cheers -
Is it me or is the Wingman AI level drop down menu in QC gone since SuperPatch 1.32? And why?
-
SUPERPATCH 1.32 is now available!

open letter to OBD
Gremlin_WoH replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
+1 That is Microsoft's joke ... What's this? Never needed it. I usually map the keys on my joystick with my joystick's proprietary software. Again sounds like a Microsoft thingy. Again a Microsoft product. Don't be bitter. All your issues above are caused by Microsoft and hardcoded into the game. Without the source code there is a bandwidth from 'quite a task' to 'impossible'. I am sure if it can be fixed somehow then OBD Software may do it when time permits (also a matter of the priority list) just like they fixed the AI and introduced a dynamic campaign engine. Again: without having the source code it is all guesswork. Not sure if you ever were into programming and if you are able to estimate the hassles of such efforts. Cheers -
SuperPatch 1.32: QC Wing Man AI Level?
Gremlin_WoH replied to Gremlin_WoH's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
So, don't hang me when I am not a 24/7 campaign player as I only have about 2 hours left a week and mostly its not 2 hours successionally. And for that I like to try different scenarios with or without wingmen. And with wingmen I like to play with the AI levels. As they were there since the beginning of Phase 3 I wonder where the wingmen AI levels drop-down box is now? the enemies' drop-down box is still there. Any takers? -

Here is a fairly good article about Grand Prix Legends today and its recommended mods: New Developments In Grand Prix Legends Cheers -
Sorry, I have no idea about the numbers. I only know about Jasta 99 which is the largest and most active W.W.I multi player squad with more than 50 members and all of them speaking German. I noticed some remarks from their members on their forum and also from other people across the various German flight sim forums about what a pity it is with OFF being available in English only. Jasta 99 comes from Red Baron 3D and now will join into RoF. Generally spoken flight simulation software on the German market will always be in German or the market will not accept it. People in Germany learn at least one language in school with the main language being English. Everyone has to do that. But they forget it if they do not make use of it daily. And its true generally you will rather talk about the weather in English than having a conversation about aeroplanes of the Great War. I think the devs will know how sales in the German speaking countries will compare to that in the native English speaking ones. Certainly the interest in W.W.I aviation in German speaking countries is not less than in other countries. Else Red Baron 3D would not have been such a great success here.

Well, I know at least of one German guy who bought Phase 3 but can not speak English and had a hard time to figure out even the menu items in OFF manager let alone the briefings in campaign. I steered him through it. Also I have set up a 'German corner' in my own OFF Forum at Wings Of Honor with Tips and Tricks in German. I presume it is because us German W.W.I sim players being in an average age of 40 to 50 did have English in school way back but never needed it in their life again thus they forgot most of it. They never experienced troubles with PC software (applications and such) as all software has to be translated into German when a company wants to sell it in the shops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with a potential of several million of customers (private and corporate also) or else no one would buy it. Only people like me who have to speak English daily with colleagues and customers around the world do not 'take offense' at an English piece of software. Of course the above does not count for FPS players being much younger of age and having been raised in a time where English gets more and more emphasis by the Internet, TV commercials and such. But I know of several German guys who would have bought OFF Phase 3 if it had been in German also but did not. They are waiting now for the German release of *insert name of recently released W.W.I flightsim here* being planned on end of August. Hope this is some clarification on at least the German side of the matter. But I think similar applies for other European nations. Cheers

Stapme, OFF and CFS 3 are games that can not use more than one CPU core. Have a look at this page to find out if you need one of those patches for applications or games designed for single-core systems but running on multi-core systems. Maybe this helps. Cheers

Hmmm, seems Hawaii is on a ramming course towards the North American continent

What Does Your Cockpit Look Like?

Because of the steering wheel located on the wrong side and no machineguns?
