  1. Interesting Interview with Ex-Taliban Fighter

You hit the nail on the head there. Like Widowmaker said; Britain has had it's fair share already with the IRA. For the most part today, the British government and Sinn Fein are now on first name terms with each other, but in the background you've got these splinter group f**kwits who want to continue the fight their way. In otherwords, by force of arms. Those people are nothing more than a bloody nuisance who can't accept change. Continuity IRA ....... the Real IRA (c'mon! ). I think the same will apply to the Taliban et al. No matter how much you buy these people there'll always be someone in the background that's never satisfied
  2. Coronation Street - Madagascar style Hey up, Betty love; what's all t' commotion about? I thought we came here for a bit o' peace and quiet, like!! Shut up, Mavis!! Just keep your 'ead down and your mouth shut - otherwise you'll end up on local garrison commander's plate for supper!!
  3. I'm totally baffled with this developement as it's never before happened to me. I had a slight problem earlier this evening with a modded terrain folder that suddenly wouldn't let me play single missions in SF2. So I took the mod folder out of the 'TERRAINS' folder. I then start SF2 to go and see if my single missions problem has been started. My woes are fully realised when the game music is playing, the control settings have been reset to default and none of my modded terrains, aircraft, groundobjects, etc. are available to use. It's like as if I re-installed the game. I then go to look in my 'Saved games' folder but I then notice something VERY odd. Inside my Username folder theres TWO Saved Games folders: I then figure if I just delete the 'New' Saved Games folder then things should go back to normal ................................ nope. Theres another one created again. Does anyone know why my original Saved Games folder is being bypassed and a new one created? More to the point; can this rather large problem be fixed? Update: Just checked my SF2:V SF2:E AND SF2:I installs - same story.
  4. Right. Things are definitely back to normal. I checked the exact location of the original Saved Games folder and discovered that it was in my 'UserName\Searches folder. I must have accidentally moved it there at some stage yesterday. Anyway, I opened the folder's 'Properties\Location' tab and renamed where the location of the folder should be. Started SF2, noticed that all was back to the way I had it, flew a quick single mission and then check my UserName folder. No second Saved Games folder this time thank f**k Guys; thanks again for your advice and assistance. Let the good times roll!
  5. Good point, but what I can't understand is that the original Saved Games folder has the exact same filepath structure as the new one, yet if I delete the new one the old one is still ignored and another new one created BTW, I tried putting in the exact filepath on the options line in the main folder, but it still ignores it Here's what it says in the main folder: [Options] OptionsFile=Options.ini And that's in my re-installed SF2
  6. Just reinstalled SF2 and SF2V. The 'new' Saved Games folder has been created again. I popped my Desert3 terrain into that mod folder and it seems to work properly there. Just wondering if the original Saved Games folder might be corrupted in some fashion - even though the contents of it seem to be fine, judging by the Desert3 performance in the new mod folder. I suppose I'll content myself with the fact that at least I can use my mods, but the reason as to HOW this could have happened in the first place - I would LOVE to know
  7. Hi Gunrunner, Yeah tried that already. No joy. At least I've properly saved the Mod folders this time so I'm going to do a re-install of all my SF2 titles
  8. Followed your instructions to the letter. No joy. This is starting to look more and more like a re-install
  9. Still recovering from a near disaster a few minutes ago. I got a bit impatient and did a complete system restore. The folders and ini structures were returned but every JPG and BMP from every folder in every title was gone - modded or otherwise. Eighteen months of work was (I thought) gone down the crapper, until I reversed the restore. I've got everything back but still have the same problem of the real Saved Games folder being bypassed. Anyway, sorry FC, I'm still in shock from that fright. Are these the INIs you're referring to? If so, this is what they all read in the options lines: [Options] OptionsFile=Options.ini
  10. Well at least I did a complete system backup yesterday as I do every Monday. But as I said I'd rather not do that if it's not necessary. Hopefully it won't be. I'll let this discussion run for a bit first
  11. No. This kind of thing shouldn't be happening in the first place. There's obviously something gone wrong with the original one. I'd rather not go messing about by dragging files from one folder to the other if this problem can be easily fixed.
  12. I'll second that. Very tasty. I'll have that with plenty of tabasco sauce please! Just one to sneak in before I retire for the night:
  13. I feel like a total greenback asking this; but ........... how and where do I install the Terrain Editor? I've just downloaded the newer version and I'd like to try out some terrain editing with the Madagascar terrain I have in SF2
  14. Been doing some work on the Madagascar terrain and I just couldn't resist doing a little editing to paulopanz's new MiG-21bis skin
  15. Great stuff. Will be looking forward to this as well. I might also let Dave know about this. It was him that approached me on facelifting AE in the first place.
  16. Sea level transition? Alpha channels? TFDs? HFDs? I'm lost already!! If you have anything that might be of value to my forthcoming (and now much dreaded) quest, I'd be grateful. Send me a PM on that It's just that I'm finding all the glitches on AE a little too distracting at this stage. It's making the job of object placement very difficult for me in certain areas and if there can be anything done about it, I'd like to at least try and get them fixed Wish me luck; and a lot of patience. Cheers bud
  17. Ummmmm....... can I ask another question? How does it work? Is there a Forum here at CA where users are shown how it's operated?
  18. Sorry Wrench; I meant to say GREENHORN! That's what happens when you're homebound on a Saturday night and not drinking for reasons of my current prescription. My missus is just gone out. That is just soooo damn unfair Thank for the info on the TE installation. Will give that a go now
  19. At the end of the day if it works; well who am I to tell you otherwise. Glad you enjoy it bud. Happy flying Hi Baffmeister. Don't know if you realise it but your earlier release was in part my inspiration for this. It'll be interesting to see where your French colony ends up!
  20. I'm assuming you don't have SF2 but you do have SF1. OK, I thought about this for a few minutes and I think I know what your problem might be. I just looked at the DESERT3.ini and this is what you'd see: [Terrain] TerrainFullName=Desert 3.0 DataFile=DESERT3_DATA.ini TargetFile=DESERT3_TARGETS.ini TargetTypeFile=DESERT3_TYPES.ini MovementFile=DESERT3_MOVEMENT.ini NationsFile=DESERT3_NATIONS.ini BriefingText=DESERT_BRIEFING.ini DogfightFile=DESERT3_DOGFIGHT.ini DogfightOnly=FALSE CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat LimitedNations=TRUE GroundObjectTexture=tan Again I'm assuming that you placed a DESERT.CAT file from SF1 into the Desert3 folder. What's probably wrong is that you need to make sure that the terrain is pointing to the CAT file in question. Change the following entry from: CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat to CatFile=..\Desert3\Desert.cat If I'm reading your problem correctly then that should set things straight for you. Let me know how you get on
  21. Holy s**t....

And perhaps later in the evening your glass will be in constant need of chemical replenishment? Hmmmmmmmm?!!!
