Squid how are you getting that kind of cloud coverage in widesky with NA? Even on the "broken" cloud settings my coverage looks like "scattered" used to look. -

Has this been reported to TK? Seems like he is taking his time on the patch and wants to be thorough... Id make sure he knows about it. -

Sounds like an arms race. Seriously tough TK getting what he wants with all of this hard coding has pretty much ruined my gaming experience. -

In building new terrains from scratch wouldn't it make much more sense to build the trees directly into the model rather than place them via ini as TK did here? -

Icarus999 replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
WOW we have trees !! Not sure because the screen shot is from a distance but am I seeing seams showing in the areas with tree coverage? Are those trees 3d models or just TGA images? -

This is why I have been lobbying for a DLC set of modders tools that unlock all of this hard codded nonsense. The idea is that if you use the tools to unlock the game and then proceed to mod the game to the point that your frame rates drop to single digits... or you hose your install - you are responsible for that and ...you get to do a complete re install if that's what it takes to fix what you have messed up. -

Cant imagine the Iranians ever had many AIM-54's their arsenal so I dont really see the TW F-14 .dll avionics being of any significance. Oh well each to his own. Oh I see he wants identical flight models ... I missed that part. -

Icarus999 replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
And perhaps a separate section for NA compatible mods because there is going to be a lot of confusion when people start adding old models to the current game or new models to an older patch level -

Im gonna wait till we learn more before I chime in cause I feel a long angry rant coming on. Once TK gets the new patch out and the bugs are fixed I think we should start asking for some real answers. I had started a thread on TK's forums about establishing a knowledge base on the third wire forum for terrain builders- to get familiar with the new terrain engine. I'd really welcome you guys to go to that thread and lobby for for a new terrain engine knowledge base. -

Has any one else noticed that when flying any air to air scenario in single mission, that the only additional AI CAP Sweep or intercept flights genereated by the engine are the same type of aircraft you chose to fly... with the same skin. In previous versions of the games the engine would generate many random flights much like what you would see while flying in campaign mode. -

Sounds like your frame rates are fine. My point is that people need to think before they complain. Many times the people who complain the most are the ones whose problems are due to their own poor judgement. Nuff said... moving on now. -

The review was harsh but it was truthful. Sad thing is that it could have been avoided, the last thing TK needs right now is bad press... this game needs to sell a lot of copies to make the development worth the cost. From what I've seen it looks like he is beginning to change some stubborn old ideas...maybe he will bring the beta team back. -

You gotta wonder about some of these guys, I mean TK posted the minimum specs and warned people ahead of time. Common sense tells you that if your rig is comming in right at the minimum spec level you are going to have to make compromises to get an acceptable frame rate. -

LOL ....First one to whine to TK about the new high res terrain beating the piss out of their single core 2 Ghz processor and six year old GPU on the third wire forum walks the plank . We have lots of great terrains at our disposal.. and the stock NA terrain should work for folks with low specs if they turn thier settings down. I still really enjoy a great many of the modded terrains and will continue to fly over them for a long time to come. We are going to need very powerful rigs to fully utilize this terrain engine... I do not think that is a bad thing. The technology is finally here to make what we have all been asking for a reality. As we learn more about the new engine we will learn tricks to lower the frame rate hit on less powerful machines. -
Mod ideas for SF2NA

You have some valid points, but I do think that we as a community are going to do some amazing things with the terrain engine and the new features. Also on the thirdwire forums TK stated that he has already planned new features and that they will be coming in future patches. I hear ya on the clouds its my main pet peeve... we need our wide sky back!!! -

Carrier battle groups do not merge and take each other on at gun range LOL. It would be pretty damn cool to watch an Iowa class battleship lead a battle group in an epic naval battle if the ships 16"guns and surface to surface weapons capabilities functioned correctly in the new game engine. -

What the heck is going on with the positioning of that airfield? How it juts out into the sea like that.... weird.
