The A-4M hung on with the corps forever, it would definitely be part of any major conflict. So would the late model Phantoms. -

VF-74 and VF-103 were on the forestall flying the F-4S until about 83 The Midway had two squadrons of F-4S until 1986, the Coral sea had two squadrons of F-4N's until 1884, VF-201/ 202 had the F-4S until 1987. 4 west coast reserve squadrons flew the f-4S( they shared the same aircraft) until late 84/85. -

If any of them worked as intended at the latest patch level I would not keep beating this horse . lets hope he has the good sense to address the issue before he releases this. Every thing else we have seen looks amazing, it would be pretty stupid put all of this work into the terrain ,yet neglect the sky. -

Sweet we have the YAK, and it looks great. Sure hope he fixes those clouds though they just look so lame in comparison to everything else... they just don't belong. -

We have plenty of modern sub mods but I don't think any of them are set up to launch missiles or torpedoes. -

F-6D Missileer = the ugliest interceptor that ever flew. kinda like mounting a huge radar in the nose of an A-6 and arming it with AIM-54's -

LONG RANGE MISSILES

Pretty sure the D model is the one that was slated for the B-1R project, it has a very long range, approaching that of the phoenix. -

Black Sea v2.0

Pretty weird if you ask me... Pfunk came here to glean technical advice from our members, and he got a lot of help. Oh well from what Ive seen I like the original black sea terrain better anyways... that bizarre crop circle tile just ruins the terrain in my opinion . -

A Fully beta tested product with an improved, believable, sim lite version of naval combat . A working Sim lite version of F-14 avionics. And as far as the environment- Clouds that look like clouds, and updated weather modes that look like the weather you would find in the north Atlantic.... nasty storms and snow. -

Give me high quality and I have no problem paying $40 That whole budget game idea is flawed to begin with, I am in no rush to buy SF2NA if waiting several months means it will be a much better game. My main install of WOE at the june 2010 patch level is modded to the hilt it looks and runs fantastic with the detail mesh size set to 16 and the horizon distance at 100,000+. -
My thoughts are mixed on this one , the Anderson design would have been one hell of a ship, but I see your point, the 80's Iowas were sexy ships and those tomahawks were like having an air wing in a compact area.
-
There were several proposals submitted and most were based around the "assault ship" concept which was geared towards amphibious operations and utilized the type of air wing you would find on an LHA. The most capable submission was the Anderson design which would have operated conventional aircraft. At the same time there was also a plan to reactivate a couple of Essex class carriers... from what I read years ago the fixed wing portion of the air wing would have been made up mainly of light attack aircraft and light fighters, the A-4M skyhawk was favored for the attack role, perhaps a squadron of A-6's for heavy attack and at the time there was serious consideration to taking a few squadrons of F-8J crusaders out of mothballs and modernizing them to serve aboard retrofitted, modernized Essex class carriers. The air wing on the Anderson design was geared around the same light attack concept, probably A-4M's with a small detachment of F-8J's.

AI controlled helicopters would make sense for a sim centered around naval operations. Seems like with TK's background it would be fairly simple for him to do. -

Icarus999 replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Most likely it would use the A and C variants of the Harrier, the B did not become operational until 1985. When it comes to the LHA's what I would really like to see is a helicopter flight model added to the game. -

Yep looks like an old list , the last one I saw had the F-4S and F-4N added as well. however I don't remember the F-4K (80) and F-4M(80). -
USN Phantom questions
Icarus999 replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
The ECM fairings on the N were the longer version... the J and S are identical. The only F-4N mod I know with the ECM Fairings is the old F-4N for series one, it has them painted on the skin rather than modeled. If there is a new correct model id love to know about it.
