  1. He should be because this site has done more to generate loyal customers than anything in the way of PR he has done himself. The reality is our modders have taken his vanilla game and so greatly improved it that the modded game has picked up a loyal "cult following" . People who buy his stock game and do not mod it quickly grow tired of the game and become one time customers. A couple of of my friends had bought his games and were quite disappointed.. that is until they saw what I had done with my modded installs and began adding mods to their games.
  2. Right on Dave!!! And what good is something shiny and new for your hanger if the virtual world you get to fly it in looks like ass? I want the goddamned environment system unlocked! I'm sure that most of us here would pay the cost of one of TK's DLC downloads for a modders pack that unlocks all of the hardcoding he has done in the past year. - If you pork your install it's your fault and you get to re install - we are all big boys right? I think we can handle it if you let us put the game back to the way it used to be... and we will even pay a few bucks for the ability to make the sim look somewhat like the planet we live on. I bet a lot of you would also gladly pay for patch that simply adds multi core support to any of the older patch levels ( you know.... the ones that worked correctly- Feb 2010 and before-) with no other changes... I'd pay 20 bucks for that in a heartbeat.
  3. I want to replace the tiles under a specific target area with tiles I have repainted and renamed - I must retain Stary's original tiles as well because they are used in may other places throughout the terrain. Is there a simple method that allows one go about replacing single tiles in a terrain with repainted ones? Thank you in advance for advising me on this.
  4. Well the thirdwire Google site shows yet another backfire... a D model if I remember correctly so there sure is going to be a lot of types to intercept. looks promising .
  5. LOL...that was my thoughts exactly.
  6. Well in my view the potential of something like this is huge, the idea of a "standard" World map makes real sense. Look at what Dave has started with the virtual NATO idea... something like this is exactly what is needed. With the new CPU's (and dual CPU gaming motherboards like EVGA's SR-X that are about to be released) the technology to make it happen is finally here.
  7. This looks like it could be absolutely Epic if it were done right. It seems like a huge project that would be best tackled by a team of our terrain gurus, with region specific tiles, trees, buildings and such.
  8. AH-64 Apache

look in the SF2 knowledge base for the conversion to sf1 procedure it should be a simple mater of ini edits(Unicode) and setting the decals up like other sf1 birds.
  9. I think that the range terrain is too small for this, your work is excellent and deserves to be part of a more grand terrain... just my opinion. I think that an eastward expanded version of the Socal terrain would be more fitting for something this cool.
  10. Well I can tell you that with the October patch that the horizon distance scalability was changed ... if you set it where I like it- to at least 100000.0 you get what appears to be haze/horizon cloud material clipping that results in weird gray angular wedges that rise from the horizon. Remember how with the older(better) patches the mountains in the FAR back ground would appear grayish in color... (and that was okay... I could live with that) well now that grey will climb into the sky. I presume that he has cut the horizon distance even closer to compensate for folks that are running the game on older systems... probably another bone head, hard coding move I am often tempted to post screenshots that show how amazing my older patch level game looks in comparison to how s**tty my new patch level hard coded game is . You know what I want as a DLC- an official third wire modders pack that allows us to un lock all of the hard coded nonsense that he has done in the past year (to keep noobs from screwing up their installs), and put the game back to where it ought to be.
  11. Seems to be working here too, thank you very much .
  12. This sounds like the place to be!

    forty rounds goes pretty quick.
  13. Thanks I will give this a try when I get off work.

  15. Im starting to wonder if all of these problems that some people are having is due to them applying patch after (Bad) patch after (broken) patch after f**ked up) patch to the same install over the last year of screwed up patches.... and all of that accumulation of over writing said installs has left a bunch of code remnants that are the cause of all of this.
  16. Well unlike the SF1 series you cant have multiple installs of the same game at separate patch levels in SF2... I want the editor for SF2V because its patched up to the latest standard- but I refuse to ruin a great working install of SF2E by patching it up to exp2 and the latest patches because they SUCK BALLS : TK hard-coded pretty much all of the settings that add enough realism to the game enjoyable to me.
  17. Something very special going on with the flight models in these vids, especialy the first video. The AI has a serious problem maintaining level flight with almost all helicopters made for this series- with a very few notable exceptions such as the yap2 helicopters which fly straight and level. Most of the choppers flown by the AI will nose up and down gaining and losing altitude twisting and turning in an irritating yet comical display.
  18. Hmm perhaps it won't be called tomcat after all... makes sense.
  19. Well I patched up my sf2v install to this patch, I just took up the crusader and waxed a couple of mig-17's with guns. I noticed that the AI seems to have a hard time controlling the 17 in a dogfight they were yawing all over the place and porpoising badly. My wingmen were yawing too but not as much as those MIG-17's. Not sure what to think other than somethings wrong here... ( perhaps they were all novice pilots?)Ive been mainly playing sf2E at the Feb 2010 patch level until now because that patch works great. The fading trees would be great if they were visible 10 times as far away... LOL.
  20. Ho lee *hit..... I think things just took a turn for the best
  21. How a man handles a problem

    Classic... I love it.
