  1. Fubar, do yo use the wide sky mod with those settings? The reason i ask is that I tried your "detailmeshsize" settings and the had some severe cloud/sky texture clipping that morphed into the terrain tiles and followed their outlines. I thought it might have something to do with the lexxluther farclipdistance mods- 5000E+3, but when I returned the setting to stock 80000.0 the clipping was still horrendous. there was one alpha object issue in play before I changed the flight engine settings: I use Starry's new alpha objects settings.... it fixes the flickering trees issue but it has a glitch with widesky mod, the trees sometime show through thin cloud layers. I would be grateful for any suggestions you might have. Your detail mesh settings make a huge improvement in the terrains depth and realism I really would like to find a way to make it work with Starry's new data and widesky.
  2. The gun-sight reticle you are referring to has not been modeled in this sim to my knowledge. I was surprised that TK did not use it on his F-16 HUD.
  3. Most of the stuff you are looking for is at the A team skunkworks site. The AH-64 is a work in progress and has been for some time, I really hope the author of the project gets around to finishing it, we really need it in this sim.
  4. As far as air to air engagements go, in my opinion the cannon is wonderful to have at under 0.5NM but beyond that I find myself simply wasting ammo. the best advice is "aim small hit small". At shorter range your piper is centered on a defined region of the target, at extreme range your piper covers much of or all of the target. You must also lead your target and compensate for trajectory, at short range this is not a problem at all. At long range its a huge issue.

I think your problem you are loading aircraft that were not in service at the cut off date in the options ini you need to manually change single mission start years to to a earlier and later dates like start 1941- end 2020. Then you can fly from ww2 or into the future. I had a similar problem if I recall correctly when I put a few newer fighters in my WOV install I also run several 06 patch level installs for special purpose uses - helicopters - props- lexxluther sky mods- Yap2- (highly recommended) and scripted ground attack missions because with that patch AI aircraft will use guided weapons on everything accept "strike" missions.
  6. Tragic news, your target placement tool was as far as I am concerned probably the most usefull tool created for this community. I truly hope your work was not lost.

    unbelievable.... in my family every one over 6 years old has the training to ensure this never happens. How this could happen amongst military personnel is beyond me. Cleaning a loaded weapon:fu2:- there is just no excuse.

  10. This insult comes as no surprise as they had already chosen to screw the P.C. community out of the prestige addition of the game. what a bunch of A-holes. They only encourage piracy with their policy's.

    This sim shows huge promise!!! I think a lot of us who are into the thirdwire series of sims will be drawn to this engine for modding. If it can actually live up to what is described on the website.... this is going to be my new favorite game.

  14. I run vista 64 ultimate, after I learned to put my third wire installs in my user folders I've had no troubles at all. I use patch 08 for air to air missions / campeign mode and patch 06 for specific air to ground scenarios. I have active shaders enabled enabled in my 06 installs because I only use those installs for scripted missions that I build for WOE- or Yap2 with my WOV install, I want the active water effects and I do not care if the game CTD's after I complete the mission.

My main installs are massively modified WOE with all of the available terrains patched 9/ 08 because the wingman actually follows orders most of the time with that patch/ another with 10/08patchb.... my ground attack and prop/ helicopter installs are patched 8/ 30/06. also have WoV modded with Yap2 And a heavily modded version of WOI

The answer to your frame rate problem is in a sticky thread at the top of this section- yo check this out great speed boost!- The HDR Bloom will work wonders for your frame rates in vista with the both generations of the sim. yes you will get slightly better frame rates with strikefighters 2 from what I am told.

  20. le missioneur will reset your game settings the first time you use it, that is normal just put them back to your preferred settings after you create your fist mission and fire up the game. The reason for the crash is most likely an weapons or object issue. The game searched for data for something you inserted into the mission and could not find it ... so it crashed.
  21. Just flew a couple of random missions to check out the terrain and I must say it is very well done. This map has many possibilities aside from the campaign it was designed for. I would like to figure out how Jan Tuma did his alternative height map for GermanyCE- to adds hills and valley's to this otherwise awesome terrain.

  23. first off I'm glad to see you are back, I had heard you had a bad car accident a few months ago. Personally I am waiting for TK to release a game with major improvements - like a new terrain engine- then I will make the move over the the new series. I spent countless hours modding my games to get them to where they are now.... I am very happy with the results and I do not wish to do it all over again. In the meantime there is a thread that gives instruction about making the new mods compatible with the older series Just my opinion.
  24. Wow!!! That is just freaking Awesome. I think i will start building massive naval battle mission in anticipation of it's release. Can you imagine going up against this carrier escorted by that amazing experimental mirage factory warship that you guys keep teasing us with? By the way is that aforementioned guided missile cruiser based on an actual ship? Is it going to be an official TMF release or is it just being worked on by that circle of modders?
