  1. both of these projects show great promise and I think we shall see the F-101 become a reality in the next few months. Here is a link to one of the projects: F101B/CF101 I am not sure if the modder who is working on this bird is modding a true F-101B cockpit but his work looks awesome and it truly deserves one, if he is not he should consider contacting the guys from MF or capuns skunkworks as I have a feeling that they would appreciate his talent and want to work with him. Julhelm is working on the other if I remember correctly, and it looked fantastic, that thread was a while back and I do not think he has had the time to update it. These are among the most highly anticipated releases that I am aware of , thanks for working on these guys
  2. Okay folks, this is driving me insane and perhaps i am over looking something obvious... but i just cant figure this out. I am simply trying to add the Aim-7F/M to my Phantoms for mid 80's/ early 90's loadouts. I have been able to get the Aim-7M pre loaded on my AI squadron mates by editing the loadout configuration settings with note pad, but if I enter the hangar/loading screen the master weapons list on the far left says: Aim-7M -0 available and over to the right at the loading screen none are availabe. the only sparrows i can load are E series up to the E4. By the way... if it makes a difference to the loadouts I am using the latest bunyap weapons pack. Out of frustration I added AHM to the sparrow bays in the data configuration setings with note pad and that gave me the Aim120 as a substitute. That is great to have in the 90's but for 80's scenarios it is out of place and will not be acceptable. I see there is a data. ini.bak file and am wondering if that is the issue, do i have to extract the ini from it and if so what do i use to extract an BAK file? now here is the weird part the standard third wire F-4J loads the Aim-7F/M but the F-4S does not, and I believe the F-4N has the same problem. Also I attempted to add chaff and flares to this jet via the instructions in the knowlage base for the F-4F ICE and that did not work. so far all of my attempts to add chaff and flares to this aircraft have failed and I am carfully applying the edits others have done and gotten results with on other aircraft. There are no weapon entries for late model Navy/Marine Phantoms in the weapons loadout section of the knowlage base, and bunyaps wickipedia weapons guide list for navy aircraft does not include the phantom at all.... wich is very strange. If any of you could take the time to tell me what I am doing wrong with the weapons and chaff it would be greatfully apreciated. Thank you
  3. Thank you Wrench and Blade- Problem solved the maximum sparrow station mass was is set as 226.8 on the S as aposed to 231.5 on the E that I cross referenced. as I wrote in an earlier post the chaf /flare issue is fixed- I had messed up and misnumbered the dispensers thank you all so much for yor time and advice. It would be interesting to here from 531_Ghost to find out if the F-4S was carring the Aim7M in the late 80's and early 90's It would seem almost suicidal to not have that option when facing the threat of aircraft like the Mig-29 or Su-27 that could kick the ass out of the phantom in almost any close range fight. I would have to believe that if the cold war had gone hot and we were sending guys into battle in the f-4S/N that BVR would be their prefered tactic and that the most advanced sparrows available would be loaded on them. But then again many times red tape not logic prevails. Thanks again to everyone who helped me with these issues.
  4. First off thank you to everyone who has offered their help with these issues. Ok heres an update, I have the flares and chaff up and running- it was a stupid station numbering error on my part. Thank you CIACHO Secondly the Aim-7M will auto load on my plane if I leave the sparrow stations empty in the load out screen, however if I wanted to alter the sparrow bay load and carry a pod or some other mixed load that may be an issue. Thanks for your advice Coolhand29, yes the F-4S nation is set to USN and I only changed the Aim-7M weapon data to USN as an expairement... it had no effect so i will change it back to USAF I have yet to check the service dates listed for the -7M but I know that it was still in service when the F-4S was retierd in 1992. Pehaps I am still making a rookie mistake here but all of my attachment points were set the same as the other navy birds like the F-14A and F-18A both of those get both Aim 7F/M ability on thier respective load out pages. The only thing I have changed was to add USAF to the attachment point list. I will change that back to NATO, USN because adding USAF did not make a difference with the Sparrows. Does Any one here have the F-4S installed in their game? I would be interested to see if any one else has the same problem or if it is just my noobness geting in the way of the propper loadouts. Thank you all for helping me.
  5. I checked both the aircraft data and weapons data all attachment points concur but the nation name of the Aim7M is USAF this may be the problem but i changed it to USN and no joy perhaps i need to reboot for it to take effect. Has any body had this missile issue before?????? many aicraft mods like the F-14 and F-18 have no issues like this. I have heard that the new mirage factory weapons pack does away with nation specific loads??? Is this the cure for this problem???
  6. Thanks Gocad, yes I checked this in the aircraft data and selected- Nato, USN, USAF, this is why i am pulling my hair out. The navy did use the Aim-7M. the 7F may have been airforce exclusive I am not sure. i will recheck the weapons data but I an certain I remember USN as an attachment type. I believe the problem runs deeper than this.
  7. Thanks CIACHO, I did add chaff/ flares to the sidewinder stations, I will look to see exactly how i labeled them pehaps that is the problem. Does the base quantity edit work in single mission or is it only campiegn? what I would really like is to get all of the period correct weapons active for load outs but the -Aim-7F and Aim-7M are my biggest priority thanks again
  8. OH YAH!!!!! BABY!!! F-101B I have soooo been looking for this bird. Looks great Veltro2k, thanks for taking on this project.
  9. I have had the same issue, with a few ground objects, it is strange and i dont understand it, for other files however, restarting the application or my computer will bring them up on the menu. Hey Basher let me know if you have any problems with air to air missiles in your missions. I am having big problems,as any missile shot that is much over a mile is guiding WAY LOW this is driving me nuts and I cant seem to figure it out. Aim-7 and Aim 120's are totally worthless in the mission I just created and that sucks because otherwise my first user made mission kicks some serious butt Does any body have any suggestions?
  10. I spend a lot of time flying the F-4 in this sim, I have no problems downing migs or anything else from that time period and I play mostly mid eighties combat scenarios. Never fight on the migs terms, The F-4 is really more of an interceptor than a fighterplane The F-4 has a ton of power use it to your advantage. Download the Fantastic F-4S-L and take on some mig 23's or 25's for a change of pace. Then take the F-4S up against a few Mig -17s and keep it vertical- I still have a lot of room for improvement in the energy management catagory but if i get shot down it is usually a SAM not a Mig that gets me. Rule # 1 -keep your speed up!!! I am betting that you are getting low and slow against Mig-17's wich will almost never lead to anything but an ass full of 23mm. I am also willing to bet a big part of your problem are the early versions of the Aim-9 and Aim-7 missiles of the 60's and early 70's p.s if you want a real challenge try the stock WOE campeign that has you chasing Migs in an F-105.
  11. AV-8B

Fantastic job Bobrock, this is probably the most highly anticipated release on my list of wanted aircraft. You are the MAN!!!!!
  12. You have got to be joking.... right? Yeah, its possible if the aircraft is parked on the tarmac.
  13. This is a great idea, top gun/ red flag style air to air training in a series of missions, air to ground weapons training in another series; then a chance to mix it up and train to fly strike missions under pressure. This would be of great benifit to newbies like myself who could use some quality instruction in energy management/and taking the fight into the vertical plane, as well as air to ground (dumb bomb) delivery skills.
  14. This is one hell of a Mod, it flys like a dream and what power... it feels like i'm strapped into the space shuttle.
  15. Thank you Strikeagle, my copy of woe is installed on my old computer, It runs a ge force 6800 video card and an older sylvania monitor -1024x768. I did not realize that the mazimum settings selectible in the game referenced the users system capability. Thanks again for clearing that up.
  16. I was wondering if the resolution settings have been upgraded on WOI? The max on WOE was something like 1600x 1200. I just ordered a 1920X 1080p monitor and I am kind of a Noob in the scaleability department, not sure if there will be pixilation problems if the settings do not match. Do any of you run at 1920X1080p? Thanks
  17. Ok guys, I read about the fixes to get this up and running on vistas but I have got to wonder why this game is not set up for vistas and directx10 since it's debut is over a year after vistas became the new standard os? Most avid gamers who are building new systems are going vistas, and running 8800gt or gtx in SLI I just built one on vistas 64 with 8 gigs of ram ( I also run an audio /video studio with this computer) so I was pretty disapointed that vistas was not supported on this brand new game. Oh well, I will get over it and I will make the nessecary adjustments; I will probably download it this weekend. Just curious... has anyone tried WOI in SLI yet? Perhaps this was an early release and a directx 10/vistas version will be available down the road.
  18. Exactly, this series kicks serious butt in the aircraft detail department, what is needed is an expanded user (noob) friendly mission editor that gives the user a mission-with a target or a series of them and allows him to assign flights of appropriate aircraft to attack these targets. I am new here and perhaps a bit naive about what can be accomplished on reasonable development budget but it strikes me that the current series is an incredible starting point. After seeing the photoreal terrain from razbam, the incredible Siberian sun/ sky mods from lexx_luther and the fantastic aircraft/ campaigns/missions you have teamed up to build it seems that if you guys had T.K. on board and worked as a unit the sim you could produce would be revolutionary… let's say it it is a desert storm type mission, the player in this mode gets the option of assigning different types of aircraft to sets of targets to complete the overall objective. He can pilot any plane in the mission while AI pilots attack the other targets- perhaps the player could also toggle back and forth between cockpits- So for instance- F-117's and F-4G wildweasles take out the SAM defenses AH -64 apaches take out anti aircraft artillery in selected areas then work with A-10s to take out tanks in others F-15c's fly mig cap at one side of the map while F-14d's fly mig cap at another F-18/ F-16/ F-111/ tornado/ A-7/ A-6/ Av-8b/ A-4 units each have a pre programmed ground target to hit yet are free to be called in on a new target after they hit their programmed target B-52's carpet bomb troop emplacements RF-4 phantoms recon the targets after the strikes and also provide real time intelligence on troop/ armor units movement All of the previous aircraft mods work just like WOV, WOE and Strike Fighters but they can be included in the mission editor - So if a player wants to get creative and add a mod like the fantastic F-4S-L Phantom mod and put a USMC reserve skin on it- Ala 1991-it is just drop in and play. The strategy planning target assigning mode as referenced above is an addition to normal single mission game play, so that someone who lacks the attention span to plan an elaborate multi element attack can just jump right into a standard single mission style game such as what already exists on Wings over Europe. Imagine the multiplayer possibilities! Also consider: for beginners who want to move beyond arcade style and actually learn to fly. A flight tutorial mission A top gun - fighter weapons school random mission generator A bombing range
