Hawk T.Mk1A, Scottish Air Corps
ndicki posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Hawk T.Mk1A, Scottish Air Corps File Submitter: ndicki File Submitted: 5 Apr 2009 File Category: Light Attack and Trainers BAe Hawk T.MkIA, Scottish Air Corps, 2010-2012 For use within the framework of the Celtic Wars Project. Original aircraft model by Russouk2004 - thanks, Russ! The Story so far: 2012. The financial crisis has brought the British economy to its knees. Unemployment is rife, and the underlying tensions running through British society have caused massive social and ethnic unrest. Minority groups have rioted violently throughout England, and the Armed Forces have had to intervene to impose stability. Meanwhile, government debt spirals without end as benefits and welfare payments far exceed predicted levels. Scotland and Wales are as usual the hardest-hit parts of the kingdom, and payments to those areas equal those made to the rest of the UK. As a result, English MPs in Westminster vote for the dissolution of the Union. England leaves the United Kingdom, abandoning Wales and Scotland to face the future alone, and Northern Ireland at the mercy of the Republic. Wales and Scotland have no option but to form an alliance against England, to claim back the huge sums of money taken in taxation which should normally have been used to help them out of the crisis. England will not budge. Various smaller groups join the Celtic Alliance; Cornwall secedes from England, and the Isle of Man joins some weeks later. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland remains in limbo, caught between Nationalist factions who wish to exploit the possibility of joining the South, and loyalist factions, now cast adrift, who are attempting to preserve their independence from the South, with some under-the-table help from the English... And fighting breaks out, first caused by popular unrest, but rapidly becomes militarised as cross-border skirmishes and air intrusions take place more and more frequently. England attempts to intimidate its neighbours, who still demand the restitution of their monies and citizens, into submission... Click here to download this file -
How to adding some entries to the nations.ini in SF2?
ndicki replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You need a folder named "Flight" in your mods folder; nations.ini goes in there. Actually, if you've downloaded any of the add-on weapons packs with a view to modding them for SF2, you'll already have a better nations.ini sitting on your hard drive, and you might as well use that. As Bigstank says, adding new nations is easy - use notepad to edit the file, and remember to give each new nation the next number up. This number will then correspond to the insignia decals (INSIGNIA000 and FINFLASH000, where 000 is the nation's number in the sequence) that you can add to your "Decals" folder. The appropriate insignia will appear automatically, if scripted by the decals.ini of the texture file you're using. Example: [Nation203] Name=WALES DisplayName=Byddin Awyr Gweriniaeth Cymru Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NAMESWELSH.LST RankList=RanksRAF.lst CallsignList=CALLSIGNSRAF.LST Formation.Fighter=USFighter Formation.Attack=USFighter Formation.Bomber=USBomber Formation.Transport=USBomber Formation.Tank=USTank Formation.MobileAD=USAD PilotTrainingStandard=EXCELLENT GenderRatio=0 DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.str Medals=MedalsRAF.ini MedalTextFile=MedalsRAF.str This is nation number 203, so it will use INSIGNIA203.tga. (If you make one!) And so on. You can customise callsigns, names, ranks, speech, medals, the lot - but that's a bit complicated. By the way, if you do extract all this from the cat file, make sure that the original cat file stays where it is, and that you extract the contents into a folder OUTSIDE SF2. I've copied the entire SF2 core files into an identical structure outside the game folders, and opened them there, so they don't get in the way and mess things up. -
Some decals and standards not appears in SF2?

In the "Mod Folder" of SF2, what is the filepath for:....?
ndicki replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Interesting. My pilots work well even though they are just thrown in with the aircraft! One further thing is the terrain folder: in SF1, it's called "Terrain", but in SF2, it won't work unless it's called "Terrains". That took me a while, too! -

England attempts to intimidate its neighbours, who still demand the restitution of their monies and citizens, into submission... If nothing else, Spinners will enjoy it. By the way, this is my idea, and I will be very unhappy if you, Larry Bond or Tom Clancy exploit it for a book... That's my objective! But I don't know (yet) how to put together a campaign for SF! So any help? Here's a MiG-29 of the Army of the People's Democratic Republic of Wales. Anyone speak Welsh, so I can make a nice decal to put on the aircraft somewhere?

StrikeFighters2\Effects StrikeFighters2\Sounds StrikeFighters2\Objects\Decals Pilots go into: StrikeFighters2\Objects\Aircraft StrikeFighters2\Objects\Weapons Weapons need to be formatted to suit SF2 - each weapon has its own individual folder, with the LOD, bitmaps, data.ini and .ini files. If you download one of my Rhodesian Hunters, you can copy the way it's done. The data.ini contains the same information as you would have copied into your WEAPONDATA.INI in SF1. Just check the header is correct. -

Baltika's UK terrain is out, and it's very nice. Go and get it! BUT... I don't have WOE, so I don't have the ground objects, houses, trees, etc. And the WOE stock tilesets are abysmal. The fields are all rectangular and regular, and nastily coloured, so they look like a childish parody of what American agriculture might look like if seen from the air. Not Baltika's responsibility, I must add, because he has done a great job with limited means, as he explains in the "read-me". SO... The trick is to download these tiles and objects, and tip the lot into your UK terrain folder. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6192 And lo and behold, it looks right. Beautiful tiles for beautiful terrain. You'll probably have to turn your scenery settings down in order to keep decent FPS rates, but it looks great. Happy! -

Yes, I have, actually - still WIP round the edges, but it'll save you some time. It's been realigned to take account of where the moving parts really are, and has new mapping for the wing fences. If you PM me with your e-mail address, you're welcome to use it as long as it is not for Zimbabwe, South Africa, or Celtic Wars skins! -

Try renaming the tanks for one of them; you'd then have to edit the data.ini and loadout.ini with notepad to reflect the new names. (Run a search for the old names, or even use "replace all" with the full file names, old and new.) Then you need to hack the LODs with a hex editor - I use XVI32 from http://www.chmaas.handshake.de - search in "text string" for .bmp. Once you've found the reference to the skin files, change the name needed carefully keeping to the same number of characters. Close and save, and rename the corresponding .bmp files with the new name. That should be it. -

New Project - SAAF Ju52
ndicki replied to LloydNB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
http://www.aviationmegastore.com/?shopid=L...0&art=52136 SAAF Ju52s were ex-SAA, so the civilian model, as were the Ju86s. They were field modified to carry bombs, and painted in camouflage colours. I don't have any photos of Ju52s available, but I do have one or two of the JU86s. They appear to be wearing heavily weathered sand (or pale) coloured paint on the uppersurfaces, and possibly similarly-toned pale blue paint on the lower surfaces, with a straight feathered demarcation which is virtually imperceptible on B+W photos. Good luck! -

The Hawk would not be the sexiest combat aircraft, but it would be the most numerous, at least until foreign machines become avaliable. So... The logic is that they would be used as attack aircraft at relatively low altitude, hence the green and brown camouflage. And because I happen to have a weal spot for that sort of thing, and it's different from RAF specs - equally important if you're a small country trying to distance itself from its bigger neighbour. Just in case, I've tweaked it to carry 4 Sidewinders - I can't see why that would be technically problematic. By the way - Welsh for "Rescue"? -
