  1. That's the idea - I've just had a fight between RAF Typhoons and ScAF Tornadoes... The Scots won... Ireland is another case - Northern Ireland has degenerated into total anarchy, with the RAF aircraft there falling essentially but not exclusively into the hands of the (ex-Loyalist) Assembly Forces. IRA forces have still managed to get their hands on others, which gives the Irish Air Corps a completely deniable but useful strike force. The level of training is however extremely low, although rumour has it that a number of American mercenaries of Irish extraction have begun training the locals... It'll be a right shambles!
  2. It isn't the texture size, as I've got a number of similarly heavy aircraft... But I've just noticed the Marcfighters Su-27 doing the same thing. Could it be a missile thing? Unlikely, but it's all I can think of. Meanwhile, I'll have a look at the texture.ini file.
  3. Hmmm... Not a bad idea, either... I like the fin flag, but I admit the roundels don't really do much for me, either...
  4. Hunting Stewart seems appropriate - hostility towards the English, and so on.
  5. What, this sort of thing? Just putting the ideas together...
  6. As I have no idea how to build a campaign, I don't know. It should be easy enough, I'd have thought.
  7. It's done that sort of thing to me, too. At a guess, you'd need to be fiddling with the core files, removing the stuff by hand, or fix the core .ini files so they won't run, or something. Not a task I relish much...
  8. Don't know why, but this hasn't made it into the file announcements, so I'll announce it myself - it's the "normal" stablemate to the Sidewinder version. This one comes with optional national insignia and serial numbers, just to add a bit of variety. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...amp;showcat=273
  9. This is a Rhodesian Hunter in the Royal Rhodesian Air Force colours which were carried up until 5th March 1970, when the Rhodaf dropped the "Royal" prefix and adopted the green-and-white insignia. Any interest?
  10. Very interesting. What he says mirrors trouble I've had finding the correct colour balance for some of the aircraft I've been doing, too. Green has been an especial problem! I've also actually got to the point of considering renouncing the use of decals for insignia except serial and codes, in fact.
  11. Very interesting and informative article - thank you. Just to tell you how much I agree with you: I recently changed monitor, which caused no end of trouble, and then found that the colour values I was using for skinning in CFS3 don't altogether correspond in SF. Especially greens, as you've pointed out. Which was the colour I had the most trouble with when I changed my monitor, too...
  12. OK, got the idea. Thanks - this look any better?
  13. Not sure how that works... Is it by using a greyer alpha channel, do you mean? They are a bit bright, I admit!
  14. Actually, for Rhodesian aircraft I've used a different dark green - the references I gave are the ones I use for CFS3; here I've used 76, 76, 58. It's a bit less bright. And I've just uploaded a normal Rhodaf Hunter, without the Sidewinders - it seems to have failed to get into the file announcements, don't know why...
  15. If you go and download my Rhodesian Hunter, there are a few tips there on adding new aircraft - all my SF1 aircraft work - and it shows you how to add new weapons. It's actually a sight easier the new way! http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8445 Terrains seem generally to work if you create a folder in your My Docs/Strikefighters folder, called "Terrains". Note the "S". In SFP1, it was "terrain". Vehicles go into Objects/GroundObject. Etc, etc. Folders are pretty much the same as in SF1. Just don't go un-catting the core files, or you'll get in a terrible mess...

File Name: Hunter FGA.9 Rhodaf Late UDI Period File Submitter: ndicki File Submitted: 14 Mar 2009 File Category: British Aircraft HAWKER HUNTER FGA.9, No.1 Squadron Rhodesian Air Force, Thornhill AFB, Rhodesia, late 1970s The Hawker Hunter FGA.9 was delivered the (then) Royal Rhodesian Air Force in 1962/3 to replace the DH Vampires then in service with No.1 Squadron. The aircraft wore a number of different camouflage schemes during its twenty-plus years in service with the Royal Rhodesian Air Force, the UDI-period Rhodesian Air Force and finally, the post-Independence Air Force of Zimbabwe. Twelve aircraft were delivered, and all are represented in this pack, although three crashed during the 1970s. 18. Now then... Colours: I use the following chart for RAF and Commonwealth aircraft: Dark Earth : 110, 93, 63 Dark Green : 68, 76, 56 Sky/Camotint : 172,177,159 or 171, 180, 161 "Duck Egg Green" : 174, 182, 154 BS381 No1 Sky Blue : 161, 176, 167 Ocean Grey (RAE) : 105, 114, 120 Mixed Grey (1941) : 95, 95, 95 (For guidance only) Med Sea Grey : 144, 147, 151 Night/Special Night: 27, 27, 27 Mid Stone : 158, 131, 8 Azure Blue : 165, 187, 190 Dark Med Blue : 86, 114, 134 Dark Slate Grey : 97, 99, 82 Ex Dark Sea Grey : 91, 96, 100 Trainer Yellow : 252, 220, 1 Dull Blue : 2, 14, 34 Dull Red : 116, 1, 1 Roundel Blue : 16, 0, 90 Roundel Red : 199, 13, 0 Roundel Orange : 211, 94, 0 Interior Grey-Green: 108, 122, 96 PRU Blue : 82, 104, 115 They seem to look close enough to yours, which are a little more faded. The Migs look good, but if I were you, I'd add a little Gaussian blur to the layers of camouflage paint to make them look more sprayed-on. And if you'd like, I can knock out serial numbers, national insignia and a decals.ini in a matter of minutes. One thing I would do if I were you - go into graphics settings and adjust the object detail and texture settings for high and unlimited. Your aircraft will become much clearer and sharper!
  19. That Trog looks good! Where did you say you'd found it? Here's my next one - assuming permissions, etc - the Cessna 180 from WOV. Rhodaf had two C-185s on strength, and it's an easy enough aircraft to find on the market. Useful little tracker/spotter plane...
  20. File Name: Hunter FGA.9 Rhodaf (SW) File Submitter: ndicki File Submitted: 12 Mar 2009 File Category: British Aircraft FIXED VERSION - MISSING PYLON ADDED - APOLOGIES TO ALL CONCERNED! Rhodesian Air Force Hawker Hunter FGA.9 as modified by the South African Air Force to carry either Sidewinder or V3B "Voorslag" IR missiles. This was carried out at the SAAF's TFDC at Waterkloof in August 1979. http://www.ourstory.com/thread.html?t=305460 The main difference between the Rhodesian Hunters and other similarly modified Hunters is the addition of an extra weapons pylon between the two existing ones; most Air Forces simply used the external pylon. At least two aircraft were modified this way. It is unclear what happened to them after Independence. Credits go to Spinners for converting the stock FGS.9 to flyable, AleDucat for making the indispensable pylon and rail, and Jeremiah Weed for the idea and support. Thanks! 21. Alex, you might want to talk to Starfighter2 - I think he's already done a lot of the work.
