Taking a back seat?
echoco replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
HI, I've been following your T-38 development and looking forward to it. Don't really like air force aircraft much but the T-38 is different especially if I could fly in the back seat, just to be different and since there's no weapons anyway. Also this gave me an idea, if other aircrafts like F-5F, F-4, F/A-18D... had the back seat version then I'd really love to fly missions as the back seater. Put the aircraft on auto pilot and guide weapons all day long. -
I'd bet the anti-gun groups would say that the high visibiliy artistic (cute) paint job on that rifle is a gun fanatic ploy to camouflage the weapon for urban environment and to distract innocent victims with the cute cartoon charater (not knowing the character name) so they stay still long enough for the gunman to take easy head shots.

I like the comment about the Navy/Marine hehe yeah disband the Army and make the Marines the main ground force, and absorb the Airforce into the Navy. But then the flack would fall on the Marines and we can't have that. I don't like the idea of having all F22 force for air defence, don't know how large teh F-22 force would be compared to F-15 1/3, 1/4? that can't possobly be enough to cover the kind of comitment the military has around the world. Kosovo, Korea, Kuwait.. wow all Ks F-16 are numerous but they're getting older in design, F-35 replacing the F-16 I don't think they'll be in the same number either. Scalling down is a pain and you could bet on another scalling down one the Democrates take office. -
Australia goes with Fullbacks?
echoco replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
I thought the Japanese aircraft ATD-X or something was an own design with thrust vectoring and stealth similar to F-22 not actually an F-22. I don't think F-22 was release to Japan because of security risk, how Japan is only a spit away from China. I read somewhere China stole tech through Japan before. If going by the logic of not selling weapons to past enemies then I'm for banning weapon sales to UK, Fance, Germany, Italy, Spain, Cananda..... not being sarcastic I just really don't wanna see these coutnries benefit from high tech us weapons hahahaha Back to the SU-34 I don't think its practical, even if RAAF fit them with Western avionics there's the matters of spare wheels, tyres, pylons, external fuel tanks, wires and cables.. etc that needs to be bought from a different source than the curent fleet. Assuming that RAAF SU-34 uses western engines, thats where I see the main logistic problem. Anyone know if integrating Western targetting systems with Russian flight control and navigation been tried anywhere? -

Zuni smoke marker rocket

Hi I'm wondering if there's been any addon or similar or even if its possible to have a LAU-10 pod with smoke markers for marking up targets. -
Why are the parked F-14s have different nozzle for port and starboard engine? Is this something the F-14 does?

1989 World in Conflict based campaign
echoco replied to ShadowRain X Zero's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I mentioned that it would have taken months because according to WiC game CONUS was invaded and it took awhile to push the russians out. The 2nd front probably would've divide the Soviets forces as much as NATO so I assume the offensive would take longer. And I agree with Soviet interfering in reinforcing by sea, their huge submarine force have to also be atleast making a dent. I'm just not sure what the 6th fleet were supposed to do. I think tom clancy's Fight Wing was more of a post Cold War type quick reaction force? The OP mentioned 1989. -
1989 World in Conflict based campaign
echoco replied to ShadowRain X Zero's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Campaign ideas could be to start of with some under strength USAFE/European squadrons trying to hold on for a few months waiting for reinforcements, or you could have playable USAF forces starting at the beginning and Navy/Marine squadrons starting maybe 4months-a year later. I don't know NATO's strategy during that time, does anyone know whats the game plan for USN 6th fleet in Italy if the Cold War actually got hot? Possibly block in the Black Sea fleet? -

New strike fighter 2 in 2008 ?
echoco replied to DamonSchumi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It just seemed weird to me that the Sparrows would out perform Sidewinders. I forgot to mention that those 4 Sparrow E were the only ones I've used so far so 4 out of 4 was a shock to me. All the targets seemed to be flying straight. Also the first shot I took was at a Mig-21 flying 90 degrees to my flight path, the missile flew an intercept course rather than heading straight towards the target, is this how Sparrows flies, I would've thought being SARH they'll fly a straight path for the target and gradually end up following it in an arc. I've used Sidewinder Es in quite a few missions before I jumped into the Phantom and I rarely miss with the E, adds to my surprise. -
Useless wingmen...
echoco replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Haha yeah I thought they were just there to draw off fighters too would be too much if every other fighter was tailing you when you're picking a target. I usually use my #2 as bait and get easy kills when a mig tries to shoot him down, either that or use him to take out the ground objectives (the only thing I found wingman useful for). The other wingmen were actually quite good at taking out bombers thought they do get killed quite alot too. I even shot one wingman down once when he flew into my stream of bullets. -

Hi I'm pretty new to this series, having only bought SPG a few days ago and liked the openess. I'd hate to see a DX10 only version thought because I'm still on Win2k and not looking to move up to Xp anytime soon. I haven't even noticed the medal issue, got to check it tonight and I agree its about the flying not the medals. One weird thing though, I only flew the F-4 a few times but one mission I encountered a few enemy planes and intercepted them. Launched 4 Sparrows at 4 targets (one of which at 4.5nm) and got 4 kills while I only got 1 kill from the 3 Sidewinder E?? I launched, is this just a fluke or are Sparrows in this game amazingly good?
