We were plagued by engine problems in the beginning especially with the Rusian built ones. In fact the workmanship of the of the first MK versions was not what I had expected as Sukhoi's answer to the F-15.My father who is used to glass cockpits of the A320 and A330 was aghast.However he is also very biased toward Russian equipment-he has this story about Russian planes not having pressurization! In the Flankers defence-it is one beautiful plane.The only thing I find unsightly is the number of pylons employed for ordinance-its detracts from the clean lines of the aircraft.

Basically the Bone rules!PERIOD! Any other opinion is a waste of thought!

So much so they bagged an F-117 in Yugoslavia-nothing is ideal!

You cant hear an aircraft coming at Mach 1.2,its only when its past and broken all your glass that you know its gone by.A man who can shoot a shoulder launched missile at a Mach 1 plane must have big cohones. Can an F-22 supercruise at low altitude? Low altitude penetration may be vulnerable to heat seekers and AAA, but then again Im sure mission planning would take into consideration the various threats to such a strategy- I imagine suitable weapons would be deployed. So far I am convinced a B-1 can come out of the worst scenario. Remember its job is not to mix it up with the bad guys, but to deliver its payload and get out of dodge.

As far as look down shoot down goes, setting up a radar shot is difficult...period...unless you have great intel-ground as well as in the sky; I'll lay my money down that a single B-1 operating out alone could pull the hood over a posse of Flankers and Foxhounds. And even if they get a shot-the envelope they'd have to take that shot would be very small...the window of opportunity would be a guillotine in disguise- ur looking for one enemy in a sky swarming with friendlies. And young pilots-most of the experience in opposing air-forces must be pushing paper. The only threat I perceive are shoulder-launched SAM's. Everything else is just out there. But maybe strategies are changing-maybe using something so expensive so recklessly is now frowned upon.

I remember the first time I flew Flanker 2.5, I had to intercept these 3 B-1's.One moment they were on my radar, and then they turned and dived into the mountains.Needless to say that was the last I saw of them . But I think even in reality it is a very difficult plane to intercept;I dont know if there is any fighter today that has the endurance to keep up with the Lancer full throttle and down low, and the whole distance. This is the real dark horse!

Now the Vigilante is the devils's ride-you have to come in fast...and hope your hook catches As a matter of fact when flying that plane you have to keep it above 450kts or else autopilot all the way!

Ive just added the F-111's, RF-4C's, the Skoshi tiger, the F-8s, the A-1H, Cobra's, Huey's, C-130A's, amongst others. Thanks to CA_stary for all that jungle! I await the recon version of the Voodoo. So far my F-111A makes for exhilarating flying, so much so WOI is now sitting gathering dust. Old is Gold baby!
