  1. I take as a personal insult to my leadership abilities if everybody doesnt make it back. So my name is mud, pretty much most of the time.
  2. Even I would really really like a B-2 or even a bone. That would give the flanker a good intercept beside the B-52
  3. I tried Flanker 2.5 with a Flanker pilot next to me and he started explaining the railway lines on the HUD for an IR shot and I was like what are we driving a plane or a steam engine?
  4. Bottom line is two man flight is the best. Keep the speed up. One pass haul ass. In an F-15, or F-14 that is. In the cAt I love the long range shot(50 miles plus), hate mixing it up with the Blinders.
  5. Get Bunyaps weapon pack. Load it. you shouldnt have the same prpblem. if you do then go into the loadout ini, and change the NATO codenamed missiles to their rooskie names. eg aa-11 is r-73m1 or r-73m2, aa-12 is r-77; those missiles ought to give you a fighting chance, depending on your tactics and opponent type. If your up aginst an f-18 or eagle make sure you have the whole squad in the air.
  6. So true. Have you ever noticed hoe they go dumb sometimes, wingman too- like no matter how many times you tell him to break there are these situations where he just wants the bandit to stick it up his tail-pipe;and you're out of range to do anything about it. Or even when the bandits have been tallied, warnings issued over the air, and they'll just keep flying straight and level. In reality yes I have heard of scenario's where the bandits sitting 500 yards behind and the pilot just keeps going along like a Huckleberry Hound, but for crying out loud its a shame when ur have to watch an F-15C get shot down by a MiG-21
  7. One thing though, they shouldn't have idiots reviewing sim games.
  8. I live with a budding psychologist who strives everyday to get in touch with her emotions. She tells me I have a chronic obsession with this game. Probably. I couldn't fly for real so... however she's wrong! Period. Its a field of interest. I dont like watching T.V. But I love reading or listening to good jazz or old rock. Every time I go out, wherever I am I will look skyward. There's nothing like the a night sky from on top of a mountain. Or a sunset from 30,000 feet. Or a even a sunrise from that high. Or higher. Darn it cant seem to make up my mind. 'Anyone who yearns to fly essentially yearns for peace.' Besides you are just a little closer to heaven. My father flies for a living. One day at home and he's ready to climb the wall. And he's being doing it for 30 years now.
  9. Sure thang. E-mail me when u do. Ill sort ya'll out
  10. Full on. Ill even show you around the Lohegoan airbase where the Sues are; that is when they get back.Probably August.
  11. This reminds me of my father sitting down with junior pilots at home over early morning breakfasts and literally beating the basics into them before their check flights.
  12. Set the comm button to TAB, I find that easier. Or something on your joystick And besides how you deploy your fellas reflects on your tactical abilities. Use short radar sweeps, and keep the brood close. In a campaign I usually stick to the mission. I only go on the offence if the bad apples are pointing toward me or will cross my flight path.
  13. Nope Im Indian but thats a long story. We can discuss that over butter chicken and beer.
  14. Big Chief No s**t, eh! Yes they are very obedient especially your wingman. So yes please order them to fire. If the AI had a sense of humour Im sure they'd go on strike at this rate.
  15. I was simply looking up the latest developments from Sukhoi and came across an interesting site. It even has a black n white picture of an F-14 in Soviet hands. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Flanker.html Check it out.
  16. How about the EF-111A Raven? Just off the top of my head for the most advanced. Dale Brown's Chains of Command is a good book to get to know the Vark. Force of Eagles also has the F-111. Theres this one scene where the pilot singes a Mirage who gets to close in an airshow, with the fuel dump.
  17. Ive tried curtain of shells at 0.8nm; that is where you fire ahead of the target(nose up) and seen pieces come away from the fella. of course I used in excess of 500 rounds to test my theory. Theres a major difference without tanks.Try a hard turn with the tanks .While in the turn jettison tanks; your nose will leap up noticeably. I definitely feel the difference. Usually i stick with the tanks for the extra legs, but when uve have ms sue flanker curious to know what uve got in ur pants it wouldnt be such a bad idea to drop em(the tanks)
  18. Hear, Hear... well said. But it would be unfair to imply that every old hand here acts like a fart who's never smelt his own s**t. I got a lot a lot of help too, the occasional rebuff for crass stupidity on my part, but ultimately the game is a lonely one. We learn from our mistakes and though that road may be well trodden, a few signs wouldnt hurt. The KB can be daunting. The first time I looked at it I was flummoxed. Every one of us has acted like an arse at some point of our lives. The trick is to know when. Alas that is not included in the read me.
  19. Happy Birthday to USAFMTL

    Happy Birthday Sir!
  20. Basically with all the attention that WOI has been getting I had had it with feeling sorry for myself. I decided to figure out what it is that I wanted. Pretty much what I didnt have. So looked at Johan217's Yom Kippur2 Campaign and said well...its a possibility. Johan217 was so kind to show me how to get around things. Here are a few pictures. Its still based on the 71 war so it needs a lot of embellishement to be be plausible in a modern day scenario.
  21. They were Catholics, anglo-indian,full of that diluted honky spirit of do good unto all mankind. I on the other hand am a Syrian Christian and I take after my Jewish mother in sentiments toward fellow man. In all other matters i am a Christian(conveniently;I look toward my nether regions and heave a sigh of relief.) So now you know. Speaking of risk, when i was studying insurance law, I came up with this in a seminar; Risk is Life.Life is Risk
  22. Apparently not much I see, and to answer the former well what possessed them was exactly what possesses people who come down to Goa or Kasaul or some back of beyond part of India and buy property. The lure of paradise, maybe conceit for thinking they could make a change; i dont know;they ignored the stench in the air. Then when the locals get rough and Mr. Kalashnikov takes a walk in the night you are on the lam again. Thats life, i guess, and things get tough when ur not a local. Coz when push comes to shove and other such motions of turmoil and plunder its the locals who'll know where to burrow down. Thay went there to teach. 'That girls are raped, two boys knife a third, Were axioms to him who'd never heard' Of any world where promises are kept, Or that one could weep because another wept.' The Shield of Achilles W.H. Auden
