AI Performance low and fast
Stick replied to Tantobot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
What I do is order my wingie in first; cover him, if he botches I tell him to cover me while I mop up and if there is an additional flight make them do the CAP. Try the formation alteration that is available here http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5583 Its cooler. I cant work with the commands though so the formation edit makes me happy. College homework huh... you dont say. Im in my 4th yr of law and im torn between the game and my academic responsiblities. -
F-15 avionics
Stick replied to Stick's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
See I manage to extract everything from the Cat file. Then when I try and access the particular ini I want it doesnt respond. even when I go to to the location it is said to have been extracted to. it just sits there with its funny extractor logo cluttering up my folder Im working on vista, by the way. Its inexplicable if you ask me. Besides thanks anyway.a friend delivered the goods. Thing is when your flying against a flanker you like to keep him at bay, or else he'll stick onto yer six like bee on honey? -
F-15 avionics

F-15 avionics
Stick replied to Stick's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No I beg to disagree, if that were the case then the whole modding thing ought to be scuppered. Trust me I'm a law student so I know the copyright loop-hole. When they advertise open architecture it is entirely correct presume that they have consented to allow their customers and general audience to build on the game, so long as no monetary profits are reaped by way of re-selling the modded game without their prior knowledge. But I appreciate the concern. Your ethics are admirable. -
WOE Value for Money or what!
Stick replied to lazboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I got my WoE for Rs 399 or the U.S equivalent of $10. Twice. The first C.D ran into triple A from the girlfriend coz I was spending too much time with the game on Her computer. Now Ive got my own laptop I play on my terms. -
As of right now....
Stick replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That was a killer read. Remember when Mig and F-18 pilot have been shot down and scramble into a dinghie together when the american tells him there are sharks in the water. Akula ! -
Carrier landings
Stick replied to Brainless's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Any way of having airplanes parked on the deck? That ought to make the landings a little more hairy! I use Digital Overload for Red swarm in WOE So Im yes I might just be advertising my ignorance! -
Sheesh I have searched and searched online but nothing on the Italian angle or for that matter Nato's. Maybe you would like to elaborate a little on what your target plan is. Italian from U.N point of view or what? I found this pretty informative but Im sure on two things either you've seen it before or its irrelevant if your focus is restricted to what you mentioned;http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/1984/KRG.htm You could try going into the India Today archives. They might have something but a word of caution- at that time Indira Gandhi had lot of influence on the printed word so thats that
-
I dont mean to be crass but I dont think Italian opinion really mattered until Sonia Gandhi came to the fore :blush2: . But gimme until after Saturday( got some law exams to give) and Ill see what I can rustle up. But its pretty bleak so far; spent half an hr, and came up dry. U.N didnt do squat let alone Nato. Chew on this for starters :scout: http://merln.ndu.edu/archive/icg/indiakashmir.pdf Its not what you asked for but it will give you an insight into the various political opinions that hold sway in this "great" country and the influence they might weild on the International community if the were the majority.

The Balance of Power in the Southern Hemisphere
Stick replied to Stick's topic in Military and General Aviation
Indeed the fire control system is far below what one would expect to be a threat or counter to Western fighters. Having actually appraised both versions of the SU-30 I can confidently say this- the first version that came in and was used for training our pilots (Hawks)was of a standard comparable to the F-15 A/B. Those were rather crude in build and finish and I was loathe to believe they were the vaunted Flankers. Even my father who is a commercial pilot(on an A-330)and the consumate judge of aircraft was very dissapointed. Despite the jaw dropping acrobatics and incredible maneouvres that had become the standard course of things until recently here at Lohegaon, I was of the opinion that yet again we Indians had gotten the bad end of the bargain especially since our neighbours had procured the same aircraft. However when the Lightnings inducted the MkI version I shook myself like a spaniel coming out of a stupour. Now that bird is a lean mean fighting machine. Maybe our defence department and fat politicians didnt strike such a bad bargain. Max load maybe 4 tons less than that of the F-15E but its got the Strike Eagle by the feathers on other counts. And the other thing that really matters is that the pilots in this particular squadron are really good. -
Thunder Station. y'll have to read that one. its got a pilot called Mudcat Walker and his RSo goes by the name of Bad Ass Burns. Theres an engagement between the F-14 and a MiG-29. Otherwise I like Richard Hermans Force of eagles and Firebreak. And Dale Brown until he went Ultra hi-tech

The Balance of Power in the Southern Hemisphere
Stick replied to Stick's topic in Military and General Aviation
I am suitably enlightened. Truth to tell I didnt really bother with the credibility of the Author or veracity of the F-14 picture. He was discussing the Flanker and the consternation that defence adminsistrations around the world have been thrown into. You cannot deny it is one of the most superlative examples of flying machinery ever to come out of Russia, perhaps the only aircraft that lived up to the hype that the West would create every time something new was heard of from behind the Iron curtain. The subject was the Flanker, the picture was only of peripheral interest. On the same subject the Russians have played a good game by selling such a capable aircraft to nearly everybody who wanted one. -
Basic question about RAM, Graphics Cards, and game perfromance
Stick replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Naw its simple enough-flip it over and slide open the RAM slot-usually there is place for two cards and Ive got 2gb So things never ever slow down. Also because I have a separate 400mb video card. But I work on Vista so the grass isnt greener on the other side -
are sidewinder 9Bs really that horrible?
Stick replied to Vertical_Luke's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
AIM-9B's are like throwing rocks at birds.Mudcat Walker did say now -guns are the modern equivalent of a knife-fight. And for that era and day guns were weapon to choice. Now everything might be stand-off. Man's better efforts are directed toward making existence a little easier. And so we must progress. There are times though when we hark back to those days of yore when our usual methods fail Hell, taking a lead shot or even a high angle snap shot while you are teetering at the edge of a stall, clinging on to controlled flight by your seemingly numb rudders, as your nemesis roars past you like an avenging fury; is the ultimate satisfaction , when you hit that is... otherwise dive, pump the throttle, bend over and kiss your rear good-bye( yeah i've incorporated the advanced AI), and when you've done that get outta dodge! Or if you've got big cojones go back keep trying until you've taken a chomp out of that bad-ass. -

Get into this website and do delve in. Its a pandora's box.The download section caters to every whim, fancy, or fetish you might have for the flying machines. Try the Ai discussed here a few days ago. Play around with the settings. Personally I've changed everything to hard, except for visual targeting because I play on tiny 15 '' laptop. The new AI extracted from Woi( see http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26039) can be further tweaked to personal preferences and makes for immersive gameplay. -

WOI
Stick replied to Baz_GFA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Trial and error. thats how we all learn -
well after hanging out with the boys i had to make my own dinner since the lady was REALLy ticked off so I whipped out my south indian fish pickle, which if you throw into a fighters gas tank it will not require afterburners. Then i went out bought two rotis(flat bread prepared in a coal oven) which I lathered in butter, a lone tomato, yoghurt and coffee almond fudge ice-cream for desert. I julliened the tomato, carefully spooned the pickle onto the roti, liberally doused it with yoghurt, and added a little shredded mint leaf. And rolled it up as its name would suggest- tuna thokku roll I had her eating out of my plate I think good food can solve any spat, and usher in a general mood of contentment.

Mig 21 in WOI
Stick replied to Bandy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think its pretty realistic if you ask me coz if ur on the other guys tail; ur running him outta altitude. There are are many times i've been run out of altitude as well and i crash if im the bird cant recover; eg phantom, thud, etc. And with all those vertical evolutions and hard maneouvres ur bound to hit the deck at some point, especially when uve run out of options and the other guy has a speed advantage and wont let you get out of dodge. -
