i need help reading a readme.txt.lnk
Spectre_USA replied to EzmeniO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
It is something you will probably have to unzip, as the link file is pointing to wherever the actual txt file is. Have you looked inside the Boss directory? I bet it is there. Why anyone would include a windows shortcut file is beyond me, as they are very path sensitive... -
F-16I Sufa makes emergency landing
Spectre_USA replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
That is one cool story! One for the grand-kids. You, of course, realize that the "Lawn-Dart" has the glideslope of a brick, yeah? Amazing stuff... -
Tunisia terrain upgrade WIP
Spectre_USA replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
What? No Hot-lips Hoolihan shaking her assets down by the Swamp? Looking mighty fine, as per usual, Wrench-man! -
Fangs to a Flanker
Spectre_USA replied to diceman624's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, there've been some serious naming mismatches over the years for Soviet designed weapons. Some folks use the NATO names, others the Soviet, still others kind of a factory type system. Makes it a real head-ache trying to match weapons with loadout.ini's, etc. Follow the K-Man's advice, it will save a group of grief, believe you me... -
Refueling and re-arming in WOE
Spectre_USA replied to ThaDutchman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Had been pining for it for many moons, and was pleasantly surprised when it was revealed. 2 things of note, if you add this via INI edit, do NOT open the controls section in game, as it will immediately delete this key combo. Also, if you get in a pickle, and jettison weapons, (Default Alt+J), then try to re-arm in the ICT area at an FOL, you will see your weapons load appear, and quickly fall away, right through the tarmac... -

Off the topic, but would this be the DiceMan of A-10 CMSgt fame at the Hill AFB Depot a few years back? -
MODERN SAM/BMD SYSTEMS
Spectre_USA replied to Abhi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That Insky Patriot looks YOMMY! >wipes drool from chin< And the 2S6 has been out since ought 5? How totally remiss of me. I should really add it to help them fine red-side guys. Ooo, look, shiny! (I'm easily distracted when talking about their assistance.) -

MODERN SAM/BMD SYSTEMS
Spectre_USA replied to Abhi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
With the addition of the working Hawk recently, Blue side finally has a viable area defense weapon system. A PAC-1/2/3 system would be most welcome. The Tunguska would be a nightmare on the Red side... -
Hawk launcher for allied side question
Spectre_USA replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, the Red side just does not have a clue how to evade SAMs, as there never was one included in any 3rdwire sim. The quad .50, using the MkI eyball for guidance, and the radar guided PIVADs 20 mm were about it. No SAMs until 3rd parties made their fiery goodness. Only recently have they become effective, as prior attempts with the associated search and tracking RADARs looked good, but were pretty ineffective. If you want to live longer while flying east bloc aerospace vehicles, dumb down the specs on the Hawks in their respective weapons directory folders. I'd point out the entries, but am at work, so don't have any of the respective data.ini's handy. I fly blue jets exclusively and am very appreciative of some SAMs that work on our side... -
The Nimitz? Gonna be in Japan soon, I hear. A buddy of mine, HeavyDelta, is on the same pleasure cruise. If you wander by the CIC, tell HD Spectre said "Howdy."

Boo-yeah! A Jammer! Used to be a jammer jocley `til I made weapons load crew chief. The best thing about a "Jammer?" They made C-Rations palatable. Would love to see a few of these buggers running around. THis looks like a good `un... -

Eagles Gone Wild
Spectre_USA replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That's an affirmative. There was a similar one for the Eagle in Jane's F-15, which was my 2nd fave, behind the Batman one. That Silent Eagle is lookin' mighty cool! -
Couple of effects editing questions...
Spectre_USA replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Since we're in effect mode in this here thread, can anyone tell me why I get odd `square' smoke trails on missiles in SF2E? Just got back in state last week and found time to get a campaign going. These funky translucent squares kill immersion. I only have a couple of 3rd party jets, and no effects added... -

Have had this happen a few times as well, even in SF2E. You can tell when a hit is critical when your wingie won't rejoin. They respond to comms like they will, but they don't. may as well just end it, as the flight back to base is a waste of time. Annoying, it is, and have had it happen with seemingly light damage... -

XB-70 Valkyrie
Spectre_USA replied to salcidomd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
As it is the only aircraft I ever heard of that was made to capture and ride that effect, it was probably the deadliest. Extremely sad situation, and way to find out... -
anyone noticed this before?
Spectre_USA replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, that be true. After years of messing about with it, I always take most "multi-role" jet I can as the primary, so the others can assist with a full munitions spread. Heck, starting off with a certain jet doesn't mean ANY of them will be the chosen one, but as long they have the required munitions, all is good...
