  1. I was too young to remember the political shenanigans but this contemporary cartoon sums things up. There's been many books written about this fantastic strike aircraft but I can thoroughly recommend the TSR.2 chapter in Bill Gunstons "Attack Aircraft Of The West" and, indeed, that entire book. I read that book as an aviation mad teenager in the mid-70's and became a life-long TSR.2 fan. The TSR.2 wasn't perfect, and there was probably lots of heartache to come in the development programme, but it was a damn sight better than it's contemporaries and 'on paper' successors. The aircraft modelling community went wild when Airfix released a model kit of it a few years ago and the £18 kits regularly sell for well over £60 on ebay and there is also a massive 'what-if' modelling and GCI scene associated with this superb aircraft. I'm getting moist in anticipation...
  2. http://www.column5.us/forum/index.php?showtopic=7229 Ruddy Nora Craig. I was only joking! Just like lazboy I'm having to pinch myself in case I'm dreaming! Anyway, take your time and don't put too much pressure on yourself. If it's half as good as your Typhoon then it'll be a winner.
  3. 10 That is brilliant. Keep up the good work. 20 Go to Line 10 Run!
  4. Off the top of my swede, that download was meant for SFG/WOV/WOE so the LOD's are missing and need to be extracted.
  5. I really do love this show but I just wish they paid a bit more attention to detail such as showing US 'star and bar' insignia on both upper wings of an USAF F-4 (and not angled) and a USN F-4 jock explains that he's fired his last missile and then they show a fully armed bird. Oh, and did F-4D's really carry a centreline tank with one 370-gal wing tank and an ECM pod where the other 370-gal should be? The graphics are a bit good though aren't they!
  6. Q. What do you think the series lacks? A. The Blackburn Buccaneer. Not much else, I'm loving the core games and the brilliant add-on stuff done by the community.
  7. Nice! Is that a Phoenix I see there?
  8. Hi Mammut. I took it into SFG (I don't go there often now) and had a couple of fun rides in it. Sea level to 29,500m in the blink of an eye! Those designers have done well to shoehorn two 30,000lb's thrust engines into the little devil but I couldn't outrun a Sparrow fired by an 'enemy' F-4B - ooh, the sweet irony eh?
  9. A cracking thread this! Out of interest, whose F-4e is the most authentic - the Third Wire stock or the The Mirage Factory version?
  10. Thanks for the heads up on that Craig, I'll check it out when I get home from work.
  11. I'm loving that rear view and miss it like hell when going back to WOE/WOV/SFG.
  12. I've extracted the data.ini and imported an F-105D pit just to get me started and, to my surprise, it flies! It's way faster than I expected and at about 180m AGL it topped out at 1058kph but having just checked Bill Gunstons 'Fighters Of the Fifties' this is actually correct! I love the way the engines seem to spool up too! Anyway, what loadout screen would be suitable and can the guns be to set to fire lower as the seem almost to fire upwards by one or two degrees. Thanks in advance.
  13. Well. That's a first! I load up a strike mission in 1967 and as soon as the sim loads I'm on the runway just reaching for the 'B' button for brakes release when the cry of "Bandits" rings out. Fearing that I'm about to be bombed on the runway I take off and press J to jettison my ordnance and I'm surprised when my bomb bay automatically opens and six 750-pounders tumble out. I find the MiG21 having a leisurely cruise back to his base and dispatch him with my cannon before going home for tea and medals.
  14. Thanks Wrench but I'm not in the mood for yet another 'why the f*** can't these muppets refer to the knowledge base' slapdowns. I've got myself flying using the F-105D pit. It works, I'm flying and I'm happy. Initially I was after two things. My gun aiming lowered and a loadout screen. Thanks to HHS I've got my guns working sweetly while strafing (the best use for this superb aircraft) and I'm not that bothered about the loading screen but I now know how to find a loadout screen in the hanger screen section - thank you. Not being a rivet counter I just fancied moving the roundel forward that's why I stated "the stock position is way too far back for my liking" so I'm well aware of where it was and, in your parlance, I just fancied screwing around with it.
  15. Thanks for the aiming tip HHS! Now I need to find out what on earth the airbrakes are 'really' called so that I can get my decal in position (the stock position is way too far back for my liking). I've tried everything but to no avail! Here's what I've for the decals at the moment (3 and 4 are showing); [Decal003] MeshName=fuselage_rear DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.25,0.15 Scale=1.50 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal004] MeshName=fuselage_rear DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.25,0.15 Scale=1.50 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal005] MeshName=Airbrake_Left DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=Left FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.25,0.15 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal006] MeshName=Airbrake_Right DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-3.25,0.15 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3
  16. Both are essentially stock Third Wire F-105D's extracted out of Wings Over Europe but with skins by easykill
  17. Well I've bought two out of the four 'jet' sims as downloads from the Third Wire site but there's something good and more tangible about owning the boxed versions.
  18. I've never really been a fan of the F-15 and rarely used it in Wings Over Europe. After downloading Wings Over Israel over the weekend I've given it another go and I've been won over! What a sweet aircraft!
  19. Here's Wrench's Pink F-15 skin gracing my stock Third Wire RAF Eagle F.1
  20. Nice one gerwin. Here's an RAF Eagle F.3 of No.20 Squadron in your scheme (Wings Over Israel).
  21. Roger. Copy that. It's work time this side of the pond so I'll have another go this evening. Nice looking skin gerwin.
  22. Are we meant to be reassured by this?
  23. Yes, it's amazing isn't it? I had my copy of WOE, brand new, off ebay for £3.50 and a second-hand SFG for £0.99 (I bought this as a spare as my first SFG was part of a four pack). I've bought WOV and WOI as downloads direct from the Third Wire site and I'm loving WOI so much I'd gladly buy a boxed version.
  24. I tried that one a few days ago and it doesn't fit/work (aircraft is totally white).
