I wanted to add and clean up some target areas before I tried to bundle this monster. But I just havnt had the time. It's a lot of work. As you know. Then you and Geezer made so many great terrain objects. I wanted to go back and edit in some new buildings and factories. But that is so time consuming. After Geezer posted all the new airfield objects I tried to go back and edit airfields and other places. But it's a snowball effect. It never ends and gets more and more involved. But what I have so far is good enough for now. I can always edit the Targets.INI later. I'll try to get on it. Like I said though it will be a big file. I'll have to do it in several parts. So many new tiles in every season. I may have too many things going on too (960 TargetAreas). Frame rates take a hit in dense areas. But I cant just delete TargetArea's. Then the number sequence will be off. I would have to put something in it place that doesn't take up any memory. We'll see. I wanted to do this to the Vogesen terrain a while back. But there was no simple terrain editor then. Now it's so easy. The Vogesen terrain would have been the perfect terrain for the IAF campaign. I can send you my campaign. You can add the important airfields. And just add the important targets that the IAF targeted. Your Vogesen upgrade will be great.

Might I recommend "Independent Force" by Keith Rennles. It's a log book or diary if you will from the British Independent Air Force (IAF). I used it to create an IAF campaign. A wealth of information as far as important locations (targets), aerodromes, Jastas, Kests, and even maps. Also I was able to get a huge amount of names to add to the squadrons, escadrilles, kest and Jastas. I use the campaign on my highly revamped Vedun map. I never got around to messing with the Vogesen map. So you might like this book just for the research. Great accounts of aerial combat from the IAF crews. Sometimes with great detail. Staggering loses too. Great book.

Great job again Stephen1918.

Breguet 14 would be nice. I've been working on the one that's available now. Its' mapping is all over the place. Very hard to paint and add decals.

Italian and Austrian two-seaters. Pomilio and SIA7 for Italians. Aviatik C.I and Phonix C.I or UFAG C.I for Austro-Hungarians. The beautiful Italian Map needs more planes. Even sea planes like Lohner types and Macchi types.

Stephen1918, a couple of years ago all I wanted you to do was make an Aviatik D.I. Who knew? Thanks for everything. You've kept FE interesting.

This is one nice plane. Great addition for the French.

I heard the Junkers J.I was used extensively throughout the 1920's and 30's.

Trying to paint the tracks directly onto the tiles is tough. Especially the curved sections. These are just test shots. The curved sections aren't very smooth. But it seems to be working. It will save a lot in fame rates this way instead of laying track objects ( which would also take forever!). they are great with Stephen1918's new Armored train that is set at ground level. But the other trains are set above ground to fit on the 3D tracks. Anyone one know who made the trains for the SF terrains? Wrench, I know you do!. Anyway here are a few pics from my Verdun terrain. BTW, I'm working on a "Movement" for the train too. It would use the "TRUCK" movement for the long straight tracks. Ofcourse you would have to do something else with your trucks. We'll figure it all out. The tracks seem a bit wide but it's the only way they wont over distort and blur around the curves. The trains tiles had to be 2048x2048 o paint the tracks.

Sadly no. Not yet anyway. I've been too busy with real life this past summer. Havn't had much time to work on any FE stuff. It was a huge project so I hope I can get it done soon.

Got it. Yeah, the only way to correct this is to have opaque decals.
-
Yes. Well just the Insignias I think. Was a while back. I think I did it when I did the skins for the N28 package. The black camo on the upper right wing is a decal and it interfered with the USAS insignia. I think it was doing what your decals were doing. You could see the tonal difference between the two overlapping decals. So I started making all the decal solid opaque. It was the only way to get the black decal to disappear under the red USAS decal. And I made all the alpha channel Black and white so there was no lowered opacity in any of the decals. The only reason TW made the decal slightly transparent was to see any detail under the decals. But with the Bump mapping in FE2 you really don't need transparent decals anymore.
-
I make all Apha channels for decals black and white.
-
Also keep in mind that the first decal "Decal000" will be on top of any other decal that comes after it. If two decals are to take the same, or close to the same coordinates, than make sure the one you want to be on top comes first in the "Decalxxx" list.

The stock decals have a reduced opacity to them. If they overlap then you can see the decal that's underneath. I think. I noticed this a long time ago. So I remade a bunch of stock decals. I made them solid with no reduced opacity. Mostly the insignias. I figured if all the decals were really painted on in real life then they should be more vibrant anyway. It did work. Any time I had two decal overlap they remained the same color. Like I said "I think" this was the answer.

This is a skin pack of three more color schemes used by Josef Carl Jacobs of Jasta 7. Fokker Dr.1 450/17 - Early with "Winged Devil" and Iron Crosses pre April 1918. Fokker Dr.1 450/17 - Late all black with Baulkencruez crosses only mid summer 1918. Fokker Dr.1 470/17 - Late style with all white crosses and black fuselage and wings mid summer 1918. the numbers and the color schemes might be reversed. But no solid evidence exsists to prove otherwise. A lot more in the readme file. Enjoy, quack74 -

(I have a hunch that we're going to need another Austro-Hungarian fighter soon.) First I would like to say thanks for another great plane. Perfect for some mid-war flying in the Italian map. Second I would like to say another Austro-Hungarian plane would be great. What did you have in mind?

I've been MIA the last few months because of real life stuff. But I would like to say thanks to Stephen1918 for another great creation. I installed it last night and it looks great. I love the new ground objects too. I need to install some of ojcar's campaigns for it. Been too busy fixing my new house up that I haven't had much time to play in the last few months. I need to make time to get back to work on FE stuff. I miss it. It's my get get away. Thanks Stephen1918.

[WIP] Target Area Editor
quack74 replied to mue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hello Mue. This editor is something I've been needing for years. I thank you for this effort. I use First Eagles 2 and all seems to work. I know it's still beta but I can not get objects taken from the Objects/GroundObjects folder to appear. Only objects in the terrains' folder will appear. The only objects that appear outside the terrain folder are the add-on objects like trucks and wagons. But they have no texture. Only show as green. Taken directly from the CAT I assume? FE2 folder structure is the same as SF2 but FE2 doesn't have any of the recent updates as SF2. Another issue if I may. Can there be a way to search for the TargetAerea rather than scrolling down? I have 960 TargetArea's in my Verdun terrain. It takes some time to find one targetAerea to edit. Like the Control-H in NotePad? Will you be working on a way to highlight a target and edit it's location and direction? This editor as is is already huge. Again, thank you. -
I remember that from years ago. It was a Felixstowe. But it has long since disappeared. I don't remember who posted it. But it never ended up in the download section here or at the A-Team. Too bad.

The Zeppelin-Staaken's prop diameter has been enlarged. You'll find the new .LOD over at the SkunkWorks site.
