Here are 10 Albatros D.V's of Jasta 12 in early summer 1917. They can be used along with quack74's Albatros D.III's of Jasta 12. Jasta 12 used a few D.III's until mid summer 1917. If any of you were ever curious as to where all the different Jastas and Squadrons were located then check out this site. It places all the Jastas and Squadrons on a map at their aerodromes by date and it tracks their movement throughout the war. Even if you were just curious about were an aerodrome was located it searches for that too and places it on the map. Good stuff for mission building. http://patriot.net/~townsend/WW1AirMap2/

I've been trying to send a couple of PM's to other members, but when I select PM the screen turns a transparent grey and freezes up. It happens when I try it from the "Members" section or when I click on a members name in the download section. I only use First Eagles. Is it just me or is it happening to others?

File Name: Werner Voss 103/17 File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 18 Oct 2009 File Category: Fokker Skins This is the skin of Fokker FI.103/17. I would like to thank gumpy for the use of his original Werner Voss skin that has been posted in the FE download section back in '07. I used the wings and fuselage streaking effect created by gumpy. I created a new "face" on the front cowl, darkened the wheel discs to be more olive-brown, moved the white fuselage cross fields forward, and added the "Fok FI.103/17" to the lower fuselage sides. Also I have painted on all insignias and added a bit of wear and tear (weathering). More in the "Readme" file Enjoy, quack74 Click here to download this file

Josef Jacobs 3-Pack Dr.1's
quack74 posted a topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
File Name: Josef Jacobs 3-Pack Dr.1's File Submitter: quack74 File Submitted: 18 Oct 2009 File Category: Fokker Skins This is a skin pack of three more color schemes used by Josef Carl Jacobs of Jasta 7. Fokker Dr.1 450/17 - Early with "Winged Devil" and Iron Crosses pre April 1918. Fokker Dr.1 450/17 - Late all black with Baulkencruez crosses only mid summer 1918. Fokker Dr.1 470/17 - Late style with all white crosses and black fuselage and wings mid summer 1918. the numbers and the color schemes might be reversed. But no solid evidence exsists to prove otherwise. A lot more in the readme file. Enjoy, quack74 Click here to download this file -
I think awhile back people were having problems getting the skins to work. They didnt know about the TextureSets. So I started adding them with my skin packs. Just out of habit now I guess.

It happenes to me almost everytime I use Le missioneur or KMD mission builders. It's just a glitch I suppose. Most missions I do now start in the air over the airfield at low altitude. But if you delete the flight thats taking off and redo it, it might be better the second time. Or even third time . It is very anoying I know. nothing like creating a big mission only to not have the planes take off . Well as far as I know there isnt a fix for this. Just try it again. FYI, I use LM to create missions, waypoints, and place ground objects (one of everything). Then use KMD to change the altitude for balloons, change the skins for all the planes by "cloning", and clone all ground objects. LM doesnt let you do this. With LM you can only create one object at a time. You can get KMD here in the download section. Try in SFP1 utilities.

Some pics of Ground Object add-ons for download
quack74 posted a topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Here are some pics of some ground objects I started to use with the Le Missioneur editor. You can find them at: www.geos-aircraft.com/SFObjects. And also some from Heck Mitchell's WW1 Poor Bloody Infantry Mod found here in the FE ground objects mod download section. This stuff works great and fully interacts with enemy forces. They all move and shoot. It's nice to create a mission over the trenches and see all the action below. -
Where to put .ini files for download?
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
That sound about right. Thats where I'll put them. Thanks don246. And you're welcome. I enjoy doing this stuff and sharing it all here. -
Here are two more Fokker Dr.1's flown by Ltn. Josef Jacobs of Jasta 7. An early version of Fokker Dr.1 450/17, with the "Winged Devil" marking on the fuselage sides, having Iron Crosses as the national insignia. I have seen a small section of a photo of this early version showing the Iron Cross on the fuselage just aft of the white wing. This would certainly indicate that Jacobs had 450/17 before April of 1917. I put the Iron Crosses on the lower wings as well. I did this because on the later version of 450/17 it had thick white borders around the newer Baulkenkruez on its' lower wings. Possibly being so thick to cover up the Iron Crosses. Paul Baumer Had crosses on his lower wings, why not Jacobs? The photo can be seen in a thread over at theaerodrome.com. You have to do a search for 450/17 ( I cant remember the link). Also I did a late version of Fokker Dr.1 (possibly) 470/17 with late style white crosses. This Dr.1 is seen , in Paul Leaman's book The Fokker Dr.1 Triplane on page 153 and in Osprey's Fokker Dr.1 Aces of WWI Page 71, in a line up photo of Jasta 7 at St. Marguerite in June 1918 along with another of Jacobs' "reserve?" Dr.1's. Maybe it was 450/17 repainted or it was that possible third Dr.1 that Jacobs once said he had. I shurly dont know. But he did have three different triplane schemes. Hmmm. Anyway that third Dr.1 scheme, That other Dr.1 seen second from left in that same line up photo is believed to be the last version of 450/17 of which he flew up until he was forced to crash land in October 1918. Why the repaint? Who knows. Was a nice piece of work to just cover up. Pre April 1917 450/17 470/17 with white crosses Last version of 450/17 mid summer to October 1918 Will post them soon. Need to do a write-up.

I changed the formation of the fighter aircraft to use the Vee-Formation rather than Echelon Left. The Vee formation only used three aircraft per flight. So if I wanted two or more flights the fourth aircraft wouldn't appear. I changed the number of aircraft in the Vee formation to 4 and added the XYZ coordinates. I also changed the positioning of the aircraft in the Vee Formation to be a lot tighter. Attached is my "Formation.ini" file. Back up yours if you want and install this new one into your First Eagles' "Flight" folder. The original is in the CAT. File in the Flight folder just in case you want the original back.

Using Vee- Formation with fighters
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Here is another Formation style. This time the whole Squadron or Jasta up to 16 aircraft will fly in a Vee formation. Instead of each vee formation flight being in an echelon left formation, now the vee flights will be in a vee formation. Hard to explain have a look at the photos. Here is the Formation .ini file. Back up your original formation.ini file in your Flight folder. Then just drop in this new one and overwrite. -
Something funny I found on the battlefield

Funny right? Hey Laton, How's the married life? Congrats.

Can you have a mix of aircrcraft in the same squadron? If this is your question then yes. In the "Load Out screen" just select all the different aircraft you want to have in your squadron. I do this all the time. Ex: I use the Fokker Dr.1 used by Josef Jacobs of Jasta 7 along with Albatros DV's of Jasta 7 and PfalzDIII's of Jasta 7. I even Use A mix of Jasta's for a full "Squadron" of 16 aircraft. 8 Fokker Dr.1's of Jasta 11 and 8 Fokker Dr.1's of Jasta 6. You can mix anything you want. I hope this was your pregunta

Some pics of Ground Object add-ons for download
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Ok these will be the last ones These are pics of an active battle field between German and British ground objects. They are all just from a stock install and seem to be doing just fine with out altering their data. I think it is an awsome site to see from the air. Sorry for the overkill with the pics but it's the only way to get a feel for it. -
Just when I thought I was finally happy with what I had . How do they look from a distance?

Some pics of Ground Object add-ons for download
quack74 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Wow Heck, I didnt even think of taking it that far. But it all makes sense too me. I'll have to work on all that stuff you said to get everything to react better. When flying over the populated areas there is a lot of gun fire and smoke. Too much more would really kill the Frame Rates on my system. Since you know about Le Missioneur editor can you or anyone else here tell me if the AI flights are able to have different skins for each plane? Can you clone the lead plane? or select each aircraft in the flight and change their skins some how? And can you change the altitudes for balloons? Sorry to bug you with this. But thanks anyway
